Chapter 2 Marry Your Daughter

Neil, who was watching patiently what had been happening, frowned. Was it really as simple as Bonnie's dad made it out to be?

He stole a glance at Bonnie, as if he was asking what she thought was happening. Bonnie only shrugged. She couldn't do anything to help.

She also didn't know who the hell Gavin was.

"You're right. I'm here for the wedding," Gavin said, confirming Talon's words. But what he said next shocked everyone. "But I'm here as the groom."

Bonnie and Neil were as shocked as their guests. Neil's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Xia, were in an uproar. The crowd began to titter at what was happening. Meanwhile, Talon's face darkened.

"Gavin, stop it!" With a stiff smile on his face, Talon patted Gavin on his shoulder in fake camaraderie. "That's not a funny joke."

"But Uncle Talon, I'm not kidding. You and my parents made this engagement between me and Bonnie twenty years ago. Remember?" It seemed like Gavin's words were the tinder that lit the entire congregation into a wildfire. Everyone went wild with the revelation. Meanwhile, Gavin's smile deepened in satisfaction before he took a look at Bonnie's stunned face.

Neil's frown deepened. He lowered his head to whisper in Bonnie's ear, "What the hell is going on?"

"I have no idea. I don't even know who he is. I haven't seen him before." Bonnie was completely stumped at what was happening. Who the hell was this man?

And she was engaged to him? How was that possible? No one ever mentioned this engagement to her.

Cold sweat began to slide down Talon's face. The longer he let this situation go on, the more this wedding would be in jeopardy. He couldn't have that. He needed Bonnie to get married to Neil.

The thought of the possible consequences if Bonnie didn't marry Neil spurred him into action.

Talon composed himself and tried to persuade Gavin. "Gavin, that happened many years ago. We haven't seen or hear from you for twenty years. As a father, I have to think of my daughter's welfare. How could you just show up at Bonnie's wedding and demand to be married to her? Are you here to destroy her happiness?"

'Shameless!'

Gavin thought. Considering why this marriage was happening in the first place, it was hypocritical of Talon to say he was protecting Bonnie's happiness.

"Uncle Talon, do you still remember the night my parents died?"

Bonnie didn't know if she was just imagining things but Gavin's voice sounded a bit tragic.

"Why would you bring this up on Bonnie's wedding?" The smile on Talon's face faded. His shirt was now soaked with his sweat.

Gavin sneered and leaned over. He whispered against Talon's ear, making sure they were the only ones who heard his words, "I remember. I remember everything you did that night clearly."

Talon's eyes widened in fear. He gasped for breath as his entire being felt cold and numb.

"Uncle Talon, let's not fool ourselves here. I know why Bonnie is marrying Neil Xia. Let's make a deal. I can double the offer the Xia family has promised you... Only if Bonnie marries me." Gavin watched Talon's reaction with calmness on his face. He didn't care about Talon's reaction at all.

He had two goals today.

One was to stop the Xia and Meng families' wedding.

The other was to fulfill his engagement with Bonnie.

He didn't care about what others thought of him or his plans.

Bonnie was shocked by Gavin's arrogance. She didn't know how to react. How could someone so unreasonable exist in this world?

But what was even more confusing for her was seeing her father tremble like a leaf in the wind at Gavin's request.

It was a completely unreasonable request. Wasn't her father the one who regarded this wedding highly?

What exactly did Gavin say to her father?

"Mr. Zhuo, if you are here to destroy my wedding, please leave now," Neil said angrily, finally breaking his silence. He couldn't stand the situation anymore.
