Chapter 10 Roll With The Punches

Gavin saw the innocent look on Bonnie's face and immediately thought of the fact that the maids practically starved her to death today.

He immediately understood what had happened.

"Get out."

He might have figured it out but that didn't mean he had to explain himself to Bonnie. There was no need for him to explain anything to her.

Bonnie stood up from the couch. She was surprised when Gavin told her to get out of the room.

"You're asking me to get out? Shouldn't you arrange a room for me?" Where did he want her to sleep? At the corridors?

Bonnie was glad she didn't have to sleep on the same bed as Gavin. But even if she slept on the corridor, she would easily catch a fever. It was a cool autumn night. She would most likely find herself at the hospital by dawn tomorrow.

Gavin also realized how ridiculous he sounded. He raised his wrist to check on the time on his diamond encrusted watch.

It was already past midnight. The servants had already gone to bed. It would be too much of a fuss to ask them to prepare a room for Bonnie.

"So, do you want to stay in this room tonight?" Gavin's long and powerful legs ate up the distance between him and Bonnie as he approached her. He lowered his head to whisper in her ear, "Or do you want to sleep with me?"

His warm breath tickled the sensitive area under her ear. Bonnie's breath hitched. Her whole body immediately stiffened.

"Nonsense! Who wants to sleep with you?" Bonnie stuttered in reply.

Gavin took advantage of his height and watched as Bonnie's blush spread from her cheeks down to her neck and to the tips of her ears. He snorted. "Go to the study and sleep there."

She didn't need to sleep in the corridor or sleep with someone crazy like Gavin. Hearing him say she could sleep at the study was relieving for her.

"Where are the extra quilt and pillows?" Now that they had crossed off one problem, the next one came. There was only one quilt on the king-sized bed. Bonnie knew she wasn't that lucky to get away with that quilt.

If she did, Gavin would definitely let her sleep on the corridor.

"There's a spare set of bedding in the study. Go and find it in the cabinet." Gavin waved his hand at Bonnie, already tired of their conversation.

"Okay. Thank you so much!" Bonnie said in a fake cheerful voice before she rolled her eyes at him. She then went to the study.

Pushing the heavy wooden door open, Bonnie studied the room.

It was pretty spacious, with the area of more than thirty square meters. Against the wall were huge bookshelves full of books from ceiling to floor. In the center of the study, there was a black plush carpet. On one side, there was a pair of European style chairs with a tea set perched on top of a glass tea table.

Near the French window, an elegant wooden table completed the majestic look of the entire room.

"Well, he has a great taste in interior design," Bonnie murmured to herself. She walked to the cabinet and took out a set of bedding. He was right. There was a fluffy quilt and a pillow that smelled inviting. She'd be sleeping tonight, thinking of freshly laundered linens dried under the warm sun.

She wrapped the quilt around her and curled up on the deck chair situated near the French window.

Everything seemed strange for her. Her husband did not beat or scold her. And he was mad when he found out the maids starved her today. He didn't want her to freeze either. She wondered what he married her for.

"He probably just wanted to cut the relationship between the Meng and Xia families," Bonnie thought out loud. As soon as she said it, she shook her head. It didn't make sense.

If that was the case, Gavin only needed to stop her from getting married to Neil. He didn't have to marry her after.

"I don't understand everything. Ah, it's better if I sleep this off." The more she thought about it, the more it didn't make sense. It only brought her more headache. So she decided to forget all her worries until she woke up tomorrow.

She would find out what Gavin really wanted tomorrow. And then, she would roll with the punches.

Long after Bonnie fell asleep, Gavin leaned against the headboard of his bed in the master's bedroom. He had his computer on and a Bluetooth headset on while he spoke with someone on the phone. It was the dead of the night and he was still busy.
