Chapter 7 Annoying

Bonnie's heart softened when Gavin handed her the tissues. And just as quickly, it was filled with anger again.

It turned out he wasn't doing it out of concern. He was just worried about his own reputation.

'You scum!

Gavin Zhuo, you're a scum!'

There was no mirror in his office. Bonnie looked at her reflection from her cellphone's screen as she cleaned her face up of blood. Before she could finish, Gavin cut through the silence of the office.

"Go back to the house as soon as possible. Don't bother me here in my office."

His words were punctuated with the sound of paper turning. Apparently, Bonnie married a workaholic.

Taking a deep breath, Bonnie warned herself not to overreact. This scumbag probably had something against her family. After she calmed down, she turned to Gavin. "Well, I'm leaving now. If you don't want to see my sulking face, you can go to the brothel and see those smiling girls there. Bye."

Bonnie closed the door to his office silently, leaving Gavin alone with his work in his office. With a calm look on his face, he clutched the contract in his hand.

Ring! Ring!

The phone on his desk broke through his thoughts. Frowning, Gavin picked up the phone.

"What's the matter?"

His secretary's sweet voice filled the receiver. "Mr. Zhuo, Mr. Evan Zhang is calling from Hong Kong. Do you want me to connect his call?"

"Okay, transfer the call." Gavin was confused. Why didn't Evan call his personal number directly?

He was still thinking how odd it was that Evan was calling his office phone when he heard Evan's voice.

"Gavin, hi! How's everything going?"

It was true that you could always tell how someone was through their voice. Judging from how he sounded over the phone, one would think Evan was an outgoing and cheerful man.

Gavin rubbed his eyebrows wearily. "I'm still preparing. I've been very busy, Evan. Why didn't you call me directly?"

"I called you but you didn't answer. Did you forget to bring your phone again?" Evan asked casually. "I'm calling because of something important. I heard you married the gril from the Meng family. Is that true?"

"How did you know?" Surprise flashed across Gavin's eyes. Then he asked Evan, "Who told you that?"

"I just heard it from someone," Evan said. Gavin could imagine Evan's mischievous expression right now. His friend must be shrugging his shoulders carelessly. His mouth twitched at the thought.

"I did make a vow with that woman inside a church," Gavin replied. Even if Evan didn't tell him who it was, Gavin had an idea who leaked the news. Anyways, he didn't plan on hiding it. It didn't matter if the news spread.

"Are you kidding?" Apparently, Evan didn't think Gavin was being serious. "How could you marry that woman?! And what about Jenna? Are you just going to break up with her?"

"Break up with Jenna? Were we ever together? And besides, it was just a church ceremony. We haven't signed any marriage certificate yet."

At the other end of the line, Evan breathed a sigh of relief. "Jenna has been waiting for you for so many years. The least you could do is be kind to her."

"Evan, love can't be forced. As for Jenna, I could only say one word."

"And what's that?" Evan asked crossly.

"Annoying."

Evan felt sorry for Jenna. But even so, he couldn't do anything to help her.

It sounded like that was the end of the conversation. So Evan didn't push the subject anymore.

Meanwhile, in the master's bedroom of Gavin's house, Bonnie was scratching her head. "Ah! This is so annoying!"
