Chapter 7 None Can Help You Except Me

As soon as the meal was over, Heidy hurriedly left the dining table. The thought of Jack's betrayal was flooding her mind. She couldn't even get a divorce from him for the sake of Hua Group. The constant replay of these thoughts made her appetite disappear. She wasn't in a mood to eat anymore.

Heidy went to the yard where Jack followed her. Jack reached forward and caught her wrist. He began softly with a little frown, "Heidy, please don't remain mad at me anymore. You're affecting everyone."

Heidy jerked her hand away from his grasp in anger and sneered, "Jack, I feel sick whenever I remember what you did. I lose my appetite immediately whenever I see you sitting at the same table as mine. Now, I'm really suspicious that you got close to me purposefully from the very beginning."

Jack furrowed his eyebrows listening to her complaints. He denied immediately, "No, it is not like that, Heidy. I really love you. If I didn't, I wouldn't have risked my life to save you. After we got married, you didn't even allow me to have sex with you. So, I thought you didn't love me anymore. I tried my best to take care of you. But I guess, it was never enough for you."

"If it's true then why did you sleep with Sherry? Jack, I can't even believe you did that. I don't want to believe in your nonsense anymore." Heidy's heart ached whenever she thought of his betrayal.

Pain flashed through his eyes. After a moment of silence, Jack replied, "I know the reason of why you never wanted me to have sex with you. You never told me about your past. I'd have never known if it wasn't for Sherry to tell me what happened when you were nineteen. You got pregnant with another man's baby."

All colors left her face as soon as the words left his mouth. Heidy looked at Jack, shocked and asked in a quivering voice, "You... you know about that?"

"Yes. I was hurt after learning it, because you hid it from me. I felt betrayed and heartbroken. It was Sherry who comforted me at that hard time. I was sad and she was there to provide my need at that moment. I couldn't stop myself and had sex with her. But it doesn't mean, I love her. I have always loved only you," Jack explained honestly.

Heidy bit her lower lip having found nothing to say. She and Sherry were the only two who knew about this secret. She never expected Sherry would reveal this to Jack and seduce him in having sex with her. The more Heidy thought about it, the more distressed she felt about the situation.

Jack gazed at her and said softly, "I admit that the reason behind having sex with Sherry was the intention to take revenge on your betrayal. Heidy, if you had told me the truth, it wouldn't have happened. I wouldn't have felt betrayed and committed the sin. You know already, how devoted I'm to you since the beginning. But, well... since you're not ready to listen to my explanation now, I'll just go accompany my parents for now. We will talk about this later," Jack sighed as he said that before leaving.

Heidy was meanwhile in a daze. She didn't expect that her husband's betrayal was because of what happened years ago. A rush of sorrow washed over her remembering what had happened in the past.

She turned around crestfallen and gazed up, only to find Hearst Tan standing behind her. Heidy was startled at his sudden presence. She took a step back instinctively. "What are you doing here?"

"I was just passing by," Hearst answered in a flat tone.

Heidy frowned and studied the mysterious man in front of her. She didn't feel right to talk to him anymore. Heidy was about to leave when she was stopped by him. He caught a hold of her tightly and pressed her against the wall. Heidy was caught off guard. She was shocked but looked into his eyes nonetheless. "Uncle, what are you doing exactly? Someone will see us. Aren't you afraid?"

Hearst looked down at her, sensed her hostility and estrangement, and replied calmly, "Not at all!"

Heidy tried to push him away, but failed. She panicked. Her eyes widened when Hearst's hold on her tightened. She said in a low voice, "Uncle, what do you want?"

Hearst confined her against the wall, then said calmly, "I saved you last time by coincidence. I just happened to be in the hospital."

Heidy clenched her fists, her nails dug into the heels of her palm. "You are Jack's uncle. It'd be better if you stay in your lane. If Jack comes to know that it was you who helped me that day, I'm afraid it'd not be good for you. I don't think a businessman like you will commit such a bad mistake and suffer loss."

Hearst reached up, pinched her chin and raised it frivolously. His lips tilted up slyly as he said, "I know very well whether I will suffer loss or not."

Heidy frowned realizing his dangerous intention. She plucked his fingers off of her face forcefully and said, "I can only tell you one thing. It would be better for both of us if we go on our separate ways." As soon as she warned him so, she ducked low and got out of his reach.

Hearst turned and smirked mischievously, "Still, if you need my help, I'll be there for you."

"If you are a mere businessman that I know, sure, I will ask you for help. But since you are Jack's uncle, our common ground will be very different than what you have in your mind right now." Heidy threw him a meaningful look.

Hearst dug both of his hands deeper into his pockets and said, "You have no choice. I'm the only one who can help you." He didn't wait for her response after that and walked away.

Heidy scowled looking at the way he went. "I don't trust you." The soft murmur left Heidy's lips as she stood there deep in thoughts.
