Chapter 4 One V. One

"I don't understand, I treated her like a sister, we shared our worst secrets, I was always supportive of her and she went behind my back to hook up with my boyfriend? I thought Alex loved me" Daina ranted.

He's your ex now, regard that way, for your so-called friend, she was fake and trust me I have had my fair share of fake friends who I have been nothing but kind too stab me in the back cause of jealous, trust me you dodged a bullet, she don't deserve you and niether does he, he's a dumb boy if he chose her over you, in summary people suck," Shelia said. "You're a catch girl, look around girl, all these boys got their eyes on you, maybe that's why they are playing so hard to impress you, you're freaking beautiful" They were sitting court side of the school's basketball court "if I was lesbian I had hit on you," Sheila said and it made Daina laughed, suddenly a ball came crashing to Daina's face.

"Ouch," Daina exclaimed and Sheila was laughing.

"Are you alright?" Shelia asked.

"Sure but someone's not gonna be when ..." Daina ended her rant when she saw two boys who looked like they fell from heaven, walking towards her.

"Yo, Girl throw the ball over here" The boy with brown hair requested.

"What the heck?" Daina snapped.

"Daina calm down," Shelia said.

"Sorry, ignore him, he's just worked out the cause of the game, please hand over the ball," The other boy with blonde hair said, Sheila immediately threw the ball to the boys, and just as they were about to walk away Daina opened her mouth.

"You're bad at hoop but at least you should have had good manners" Daina yelled and the boys exclaimed.

"What is it you say?" The brown-haired boy said turning around.

"Damian ignore her, she doesn't know what she's talking about," Shelia said.

"No I meant it," Daina said standing her ground.

"Ho, I hope you can back up your words," Damian said.

"Stefan, talk to your friend" Shelia yelled to the other boy.

"5 free throws, the highest number wins," Daina said. "And when I win you write an apology letter for your attitude and misogynist comment and read it tomorrow during lunch" She added.

"It's your friend who needs talking," Stefan said.

"This is freaking ridiculous," Damian said laughing.

"Thank you," Sheila said.

"Are you scared of getting beat up by a girl, if you back out now you're a coward," Daina said and everyone reacted like she dropped the hardest diss of the year.

"Daina?" Sheila said.

"Damian you don't have to do this" Stefan said.

"If I win you'll clean my shoes for the whole semester, " Damian said.

"Whatever," Daina said.

"Game on," Damian said throwing the ball to Daina who threw it back to him.

"Go first," Daina said waking to the court, the players made way for them, Damian stood in the middle of the court, bounced the ball, aimed it, and scored, he repeated the same thing three times and scored 3 and missed one, for his last shot, he bounced the ball, this time staring at Daina with a grin.

"I'm gonna give you some pointers," He said throwing the ball backward

"You're gonna regret it, trust me," Daina said, Damian chuckled and shrugged his shoulders.

When Damian got the ball again he threw it backwards into the net and everyone laughed.

"Three out of five, let's see what you got baby girl," Damian said and Daina just frowned.

Daina got the ball, bounced it aiming to the basket, she threw it but it didn't go anywhere close to the basket and everyone began to laugh especially Damian but she was kept smiling, Sheila shakes her head disappointed, Diana got the ball again, she bounces it again and this time she scores, everyone was surprised, the look on Damian's face was like he saw a ghost.

"Beginner's luck," Damian waved it.

"That shot was actually insane," Stefan said.

Daina got the ball again, she bounces, shoots, and scores and the cheers kept getting louder, especially from Sheila. Diana repeated the same step and scored again,

"Dude three to three," One of Damian's teammates said and Damian glared at him.

Diana was handed the ball again, and this she turned around, facing the opposite direction of the net.

"No way" Stefan exclaimed.

Daina bounced the ball and then threw it backward, she netted it and it was a screamer, Sheila ran hugging her.

"Didn't know you could play" Sheila said.

"I used to hoop with my cousin" Daina revealed, Damian kept giving her death glares. "Make sure that apology is nice," Daina said.

"Hey, wait up," Stefan shouted and the girls obliged. "Nice shot that was insane, almost as beautiful as you," He complimented Diana who blushed as he bit his lips, her eyes were fixed on his alluring green eyes.

"Hm mh," Sheila clears her throat, stopping the magical moment.

"Oh, I want to apologize about Damian, and also, I think you should join the girls basketball team with your shot you could be the next Steph Curry for the WNBA for sure," Stefan said.

"Sorry, I don't really know, basketball ain't my strong suit," Diana replied.

"But you're gonna at least think about it?" Stefan asked.

"I make no promises," Diana said as they both giggled.

"In case you ..." Stefan's words were left in half.

"Come on Stef we are one man down," Damian yelled.

"I'll see you later Diana, hit me up when you change your mind," Stefan said running back to his teammates.

"I'll see you around too Stefan, you too," Daina finally found her words, she stood there frozen in to spot until ...

"Okay, fun time is over let's go," Sheila announced dragging Daina and all of a sudden Daina bumped into someone, she almost fell but Sheila held her tight.

"Hey watch where you're ..." Daina couldn't complete her words, oh no, what the ... "You?"
