Chapter 3 Welcome To Wolvestien High

After a ride that felt like forever, with Mrs. Smith constantly throwing shots at Daina, Mason trying to calm her down and Tristan enjoying the entire show, the family finally arrived, Wolvestien High unveiled its hidden beauty as they drove past the gate, Daina's doubt of joining the school suddenly disappeared, her eyes were enticed with the architecture and her jaw was dropping, a little voice said to her 'I think you're gonna like it here' she smirked at that thought.

"Wow," Daina exclaimed.

"Get used to it, this is your new school now," Mason said.

Shortly Mason pulled over at the parking lot and everyone helped Diana get her luggage from the car, a tall woman, in her early 30s approached the family, she was on a fancy blazer and blouse, and she kept scanning Daina's face making her uncomfortable...

"Hi, I'm Mrs. Victoria" The woman introduced himself "I'm not good with faces are you the Smiths?" Victoria asked.

"Jessica Smith and this is my brother, Mason and my nephew Tristian" Mrs. Smith said excitedly "And this is the star girl," She said patting Diana's shoulder and she faked a smile.

"Okay, I'm an associate of Dr. Robertson, and he trusts me to welcome you to Wolvestien High," Victoria said shaking Daina's hand.

"Dr. Robertson?, The one who funded the scholarship program?" Daina asked.

"Yes and He has obligated me to be your guardian so Mrs. Smith I assure you your daughter is in safe hands," Victoria informed.

"So do every scholarship student receive this kind of treatment?" Tristan asked and his Father gave him the side eye. "What? I might wanna apply next year," he told his father.

"Don't listen to him, he's an idiot," Mason advised.

"It's alright, Dr. Robertson was pleased with your exam score and even wants to meet with you anytime soon, he calls Daina a prodigy and he is determined to ensure she attains her full potential he would have formally welcomed you but he is on a business trip," Victoria revealed. "Once again welcome to Wolvestien High," she added.

Daina was so marveled by the words coming out of Victoria's mouth that she became speechless, Victoria signaled two men and they took Daina's pieces of luggage.

"They will place it in your room," Victoria said.

"Can I have a second with my family I will join you soon," Daina requested.

"Okay," Victoria said giving her some privacy.

"Guess I'm gonna have to change your contact to prodigy" Tristian teased and Daina playfully punched him and hugged him.

"Always knew you were made for great things," Mason said hugging Daina.

"Daina, you made it baby, this is it, we're so proud of you," Mrs. Smith said hugging her, Tristian and Mason joined the hug. "I'm gonna miss my baby so much," Mrs. Smith said.

"It's just a minute drive and I'll be back every weekend plus you can ..." Daina's speech was immediately cut short.

"Don't ruin the moment" Mrs. Smith said.

"Alright, I'm gonna miss you guys a lot," Daina said, soon the family broke the group hug.

Tristian, Mrs. Smith, and Mason got into the car.

"Hey yo Tris you better not forget my gift" Daina yelled.

"I swear you're gonna get it tonight" Tristan yelled, Daina's family got into the car and Daina kept watching with a smile, they drove away and Daina kept waving until they were out of her sight, it was an emotional scene, Daina was fighting hard against her tears from escaping her eyes, okay Daina Smith put on your big girl pants, she said to herself.

**********

"This is where you would be staying" Victoria informed Daina handing her a key.

"Woah, this is nice," Daina said, she couldn't help but notice the two beds in the room, which made her question...

"Your roommate will be joining you shortly," Victoria said affirming her theory "I will have the staff help you arrange,"

"Thanks but I will be alright," Daina said with a pleasant smile.

"I want you to see me as a family, so if you need anything or someone to talk to or anything at all call me," Victoria said handing Daina a business card.

"Okay," Daina said and Victoria opened the door "Have a wonderful evening," Daina said.

"Have a blissful evening, Daina" Victoria said leaving.

"Man, I'm finally here," Daina said waving a sigh of relief "Worth all the hard work, worth all the pushing, worth everything, Worth everything Dad," Daina said.

"Oh my God, I'm gonna puke if you start to sing" a voice behind Daina let out, Daina turned around to see an angel in a yellow gown, her blue ocean eyes were screaming perfection, and her hair was carefully braided.

"Who are you?" Daina asked.

"Oh, you're that new girl," The girl said "Daina right?" She asked and Daina nodded affirmatively "I'm your roommate, Sheila," Sheila said shaking Daina.

"Nice to meet you," Daina said.

"You must be very wealthy 'cause of the way they treated you, is your Dad the president of some country or ..." Sheila stopped speaking when Daina began to laugh.

"It's quite the opposite, I'm here on scholarship" Daina revealed.

"Let's help you unpack," Sheila said helping Daina unpack her things, the girls engaged in minimal conversation like a favorite popstar, movies, and celebrities, they were having a good time, Sheila was funny and easy to talk to, she was a talkative who would blurt out the first thing in her mind, she was also a good listener.

"So what's the first misconception you had about Wolvestien?" Shelia asked.

"Before I got here my cousin was scaring me with these conspiracy theories that werewolves live here," Daina said laughing.

"Except they do," Shelia said in a serious tone and Daina's laughter faded "Every night, howls are heard, growl from around all the Conner, silent footsteps, patiently waiting for its next victim and no one knows who it is, it could be your biology teacher, your crush on the basketball team, could be me could be ... boo!!" Shelia said laughing.

"Why are you playing with me like that?" Daina said laughing. "Can't believe I fell for that"

"It's just a story we use to scare the newbies so welcome to Wolvestien," Sheila said.

Daina's phone buzzed, and she checked it, Mariah just sent her a message she tapped on it, and what she saw made her freeze with her jaw dropped, Sheila noticed.

"What's up?" Sheila asked and Daina showed her pictures of Mariah and Alex kissing. "Damn, he's hot," Shelia said.

"That's my boyfriend and my best friend" Daina informed. "She sent it to me"

"Yikes, sounds like you need a new best friend," Sheila said.

Diana stared at her screen as her blood boiled in rage, how could she? How could her best friend since middle school betray her this way, she felt like a fool for not taking Tristan's warning, and in a bit of she immediately started typing.

"What are you doing?" Sheila asked.

"Putting that bitch in her place," Daina said and Sheila snatched the phone from her hand. "Hey give that back," Daina shouted.

"Chill, girl, she sent you those pics so she would get a reaction from you, and if you do react you're making her win, leave her on read, ignore them like you don't a damn, it'll hurt them more," Sheila advised.

"You do have a point," Daina said letting out a sigh of relief "I don't just understand," she said.

"Let's get some air and get rid of the negative energy trust me you will feel better," Sheila said.
