Felix took over the marriage certificate and looked it over carefully, it indeed belonged to Valerie and Asher.

Valerie was abandoned in the countryside when she was little, she grew up with her grandfather there, so her registered residence was at that place.

That is to say, she could get her marriage certificate without needing their consent.

Realizing this, Felix felt a sudden darkness before his eyes, his mind buzzing wildly.

Helena came down from upstairs, seeing everyone in the hall standstill. She stepped forward to investigate but was attracted by Asher first.

The black suit he wore only made him even taller, upright, and more restrained.

"Dad, Mom, what's going on?" Helena reluctantly took her eyes off him and asked.

"Your sister found this pretty boy from who knows where, directly got married to him, it made your father furious!" Eleanor grumbled, hatred filling her eyes as she looked at Valerie.

"Huh? Sister, how could you do this?"

Helena pretended to be surprised. "Didn't you promise yesterday? If you infuriate Mr. Leo, he won't help us with Brooks's financial shortfall, we won't have money to treat grandfather's illness, is that what you want?"

Thinking of the possibility that the Brooks family could go bankrupt due to Valerie, Felix's hatred deepened, scolding angrily, "I don't care what the actual relationship you guys have is, go get a divorce immediately! And go apologize to Mr. Leo!"

"Otherwise, just wait to hold your grandfather's funeral!"

Valerie bit her lips tight, so hard that blood was drawn.

Asher looked down at Valerie in his arms, her small face all flushed, tears shimmering in her eyes. It was hard not to feel sorry for her.

His eyes became cold and sharp. "Isn't it disgraceful that the owner of the Brooks Corporation is pressuring his daughter into selling herself? If word gets out, it could become the talk of the town."

"Just because you're enamored with Miss Valerie's identity, do you think you've hitched yourself to a wealthy family?"

"I'll tell you, In the Brooks family, Valerie is worth nothing!"

Felix vented his rage indiscriminately.

Valerie stood there in a daze, listening to Felix spew out venomous words, sentence by sentence, each one like a sharp blade, cutting away whatever little familial bond she had left.

Her body started shaking uncontrollably. Asher's normally impassive eyes narrowed slightly, about to speak up for her, but she grasped his wrist.

Looking at with her pale little face, she shook her head bitterly and said, "You should leave first."

Felix was set on selling her to Leo, having Asher here would only anger him further.

Considering Felix's scheming nature, it wouldn't be a surprise if he tried to make things difficult for Asher afterward!

She couldn't drag him into this.

Asher didn't say anything, his gaze remained focused on her, filled with concern and confusion.

"Go? Impossible! You must get divorced first!"

Felix blocked their path, turning to look at Valerie, "You see, Mr. Leo likes you. You just need to divorce now, then agree to marry Mr. Leo. This could save our Brooks Corporation, and your grandfather too."

Looking at Felix's demeanor, Valerie felt a bitter taste in her throat.

She forced herself to calm down. "Even if I divorce, it will be a month later."

Seeing her easing up, Felix's attitude also relaxed, "Okay, you can go and register first. Tomorrow, come with me to apologize to Mr. Leo. Then we can prepare the wedding banquet. When that is done, the matter will be settled. When the time comes, you will receive the certificate from Mr. Leo."

Valerie took Asher's hand and quickly left, sending him to the door. "You should go back quickly."

Asher, however, didn't move. He turned and stared at her, his tone somewhat icy, "Are you thinking about divorcing me?"

Valerie was startled, and she lifted her bewildered eyes to look at him, falling into his deep gaze.

Looking at his handsome face, she suddenly felt a strange yet familiar feeling.

It was strange because they had only met once, but familiar because they were already connected in an intimate relationship on paper.

She shook her head, "I'm just worried about him hurting my grandfather. Don't worry, during this month of cooling-off period for divorce, I will handle everything."

I will also settle with my grandfather and will not give them any handles to threaten me anymore.

Knowing that she didn't intend to divorce him, Asher's expression gradually returned to normal, "Now that we are husband and wife, no matter what problems arise in the future, you can talk to me."

Valerie gave a bitter smile. "Forget it, I already feel guilty for dragging you into this. You're just a male model, and now you've offended Felix. If he meddles, you might lose your job."

"How come you're so sure that I'm a male model?" As he gazed at her with a complicated expression, Asher couldn't help but voice the question that had lingered in his heart for a long time.

Asher left, watching Valerie as she walked away, his gaze becoming complex.
