Selene's POV
"Imagine what's like, flying from a hot pan and straight into a fire. Alpha Damian will hurt you harder than I ever did. He's not good for you. Run back to me for your safety! ~Asher" the message read.
I froze in complete shock.
How the hell did he find out about this number? I thought and checked out the SIM card on the phone, only to realize that Damian had actually restored my existing number instead of giving me a new one.
Fuck!
He must have done this so innocently.
My heart started beating really fast as I wondered what I should do about this.
Asher already knew about my whereabouts. I rushed to the window in search of Elaine and saw her conversing with one of the Omegas in the flower garden humbly.
I turned and ran out of my room. I needed to speak with her but before I could get to her, I got blocked by Beta Joe. "Miss Selene, the Alpha needs you." He said, and I thought seeing him would make better sense, so I rushed to his chamber only to find him peacefully scrolling through a document.
My heart raced and I suddenly felt dumb.
"Would he believe me if I said I never reached out to that man first?" I thought, staring into his ocean eyes that stared right back into my eyes.
"Come here!" He softly muttered and I rushed to him, hugging him and crying.
"Are you okay? You know you can tell me anything." He said but I doubted I wouldn't get on his nerves with what I had in mind.
"I swear I didn't talk to him. He came to me without me even giving him my number." I kept saying and saw the confusion on his face.
"What are you talking about?" He asked me and I then realized what I had said and felt embarrassed.
"I wouldn't blame you or get pissed about you being transparent with me. That's what we need to be a lifelong mate to each other." He told me, consoling my feelings while I was on his lap.
"He... I saw his message. He told me to run from you." I opened up
"Are you talking to me about Alpha Asher?" He finally got it and I nodded.
He went silent for a second.
"It's fine. I trust you. Just tell me everything. I will never use it against you, okay? I can get you a different number if you don't need that one anymore." He casually said and I paused to think.
There was no trace of anger on his face and that got me really worried about his feelings. Could he be hiding it to please me? "Please trust me. I love us together. I despise Asher and would never want anything with him." I opened up plainly and he kissed my forehead.
"Selene, I trust you deeply." He said again and I smiled in relief.
"I have a surprise for you." He said and my eyes lit up.
"What did I do to deserve a surprise though?" I asked him.
"I just need you to clear your head. Come on!" He said and helped me up. He brought out his palm and I placed mine on it, feeling calm and at peace. He then led me out of the chamber and took me outside the palace building. "I'm going to give you a tour of the secret parts of the palace." He announced to me and that sparked my interest. I was interested in history and knowing secrets very few could find.
In excitement, I followed him around. I saw his private red pool and was in awe. I touched the water, and after conversations about his pool, he took me straight to the palace's private library. "Wow!" I exclaimed as I studied the interior. The antiques placed on every corner piqued the tiniest curiosity I had buried in my body system.
"Very few have been in here. From my great grandfather to my grandfather and then my father, my mother, me, and now it's me and you." He said and it went straight to my heart.
It must be so special then. I thought wondering what I had done for the moon goddess to bless me with such a thoughtful mate to be. "I must have saved the entire kingdom to have deserved you. Thank you for this honor, Damian." I said to him and his response was a kiss on my forehead.
I left his hands and started running towards the shelves and it was then I spotted a shelf that had the names of different packs written at the top of each corner of the shelf. I went closer and started looking at the names. I could see a lot of familiar Packs and only passed until I came across a part that had "Ravens Pack" written on it.
I rolled my eyes in curiosity. Why was it looking like my soul was tied to the Ravens' pack? I thought and touched some books there. "You can look at it. I don't mind. It will help you understand their weakness if they ever attack our pack. Also, you will find out about their goodness and their evil. Their mystery and every one of their sins against the moon goddess." He mentioned and that got me more curious. I picked up a book that had a chilling title on it.
"You mean you also have the names of every blood the Ravens have shed?" I muttered in fright.
"Yes! But this particular book wasn't my effort. It was my father's effort. As I rule, I will be able to update it and have it on the shelf for the younger generation to come. Feel free to look at it," he replied, and I quickly turned it open.
His father was from my father's generation. I had wondered what it was like to be young and a Raven from forty years ago. I opened the pages and there they were, the names of every life that was lost with the name of the Raven that killed the person. "Wow! Asher is just like his father. Heartless and ruthless. The life his father took unprovoked is uncountable." I spat as I kept looking and scrolling through the pages. Alpha Asher's father was the one ruling in Alpha Damian's father's time, so I wasn't surprised he knew so much about him; after all, they were enemies.
The names on the book had some that were written boldly, unlike the rest, and I couldn't help but stare at the bold inks.
My eyes flashed across a familiar one and it felt as though my heart stopped for a minute. I looked towards Damian, but he looked too busy with something else, and then I looked at the book again.
"Rose Nightfall" stayed boldly written and I suddenly became too dumb to utter a word.
I looked at the killer of the name and "Richard Blackwood" was boldly written above.
Everyone knew Richard Blackwood was Alpha Asher's late father.
But Rose Nightfall!
That's my late mother's name.
