Chapter 3 Alpha Damian

Selene's POV

After stepping out from the warm tub, I had Elaine, one of the maids that left with me that night, approach me with a hairbrush in her hands. I had completely lived alone with her for five years now in this medium-sized apartment, with my father visiting only a few times. Thankfully, my father made sure that it was somewhere very far away from Ravens pack while I made sure that it had everything not to make me miss that awful packhouse.

"You just keep getting prettier by the day, Selene," Elaine smiled while I let her help me with my hair. Of course, she had become like a friend to me, and our friendship was the one I knew wouldn't be falling apart soon.

"You never get tired of flattering me, Elaine," I smiled back only to notice the worried look in her eyes. "What's wrong?"

"It's really nothing serious," she lied and I could tell because her lips were quivering.

"There's never a point in you trying to lie to me, Elaine so speak up already. What is the matter?"

"I'm just worried. I made some acquaintances around here just for information's sake, and rumors have it that the Alpha wants you back at all cost."

"And you believe such?" I asked back, surprised that such rumors could get to her.

"I didn't at first but it's now common amongst the people. They say that he deeply regrets his action and he had placed an awesome reward for anyone who can turn you in. We both know that if there's anything about Alpha Asher, he can always get what he wants and I'm just scared that he might pull through with it."

Her fears were starting to make sense to me, but then again, I just couldn't see how true it was.

"If anything were happening in Raven's pack right now, I'm certain that my father would find a way to let me know about it, but I haven't heard anything from him."

"Maybe not yet or maybe that's because he might be held by Alpha Asher to stop him from feeding you important information about his plans to bring you back," she argued back.

"Nobody knows about him coming to see me, and that's the reason he doesn't come around too often. Also, I don't believe that Asher would do that."

"If that's the case, you have to look for a way and write to him or something-"

"That would be risky. I'll just wait and see what happens."

She was about to speak up when we heard a knock at the door. I watched as she swallowed hard as though her biggest fears had caught up with her.

"Expecting someone?" she asked, her voice slightly above a whisper.

"No."

"Alright, then. Stay put. I'll see who it is and if I break a glass, I want you to hide, okay?"

I nodded and watched her leave. It wasn't long before she came back to the room, except that this time she wasn't alone. Without thinking, I sprinted towards Theodore Nightfall, the man who had proven countless times to be my anchor and shield, my father.

"You just keep looking more beautiful with each second," he chuckled against my embrace.

"Thanks, Dad," I pulled away from him and directed him to the bed.

"We were actually talking about you before you knocked, and I'm guessing your presence here is of great importance, so I'll leave you two to it," Elaine muttered and turned to leave.

"No, come back," my father called her back. "You're now like a sister to my daughter and what I have to say is something you also have a part to play in."

Tension filled the room as those words left his mouth. I didn't need anyone to tell me that something was wrong from the level of seriousness in his tone while he spoke and in his eyes when he glanced from Elaine to me.

"What's wrong?" I inquired.

"It's about the Alpha. He wants you back, and as funny as that may sound, he is doing everything possible to make sure that he gets you back, not just as a member of the pack but as his Luna."

"Is there a special reason for that?" I asked just to confirm what Elaine said to me this morning.

"He said he regrets his action, and he sincerely apologizes for it, but we know that's not true," he sighed.

"Right, father. How possible is it that all of a sudden, after five years have passed, he wants me back, especially when he still has Gia? Five years, not even days."

"Well, five years is enough for anyone to realize his biggest mistakes and look for ways to make amends for them. However, he is not just anyone. He is Alpha Asher and everyone knows that he doesn't chase something with all his resources when he won't get back its worth," my father looked at me intensely now.

"Meaning he has learned of your abilities, Selene," Elaine panicked. "But how is that possible? We've been very careful about showing off your abilities, plus, you've suppressed your wolf in order not to let anyone suspect how special you are, so how?!"

"Calm down, Elaine. I've always known that I won't be able to run away forever, and if he now knows, I'm not surprised at all, especially as he is the Alpha and has everything to buy any sort of information."

Everyone sat there, pondering on a possible next move before my dad stood up and rubbed his palms against his pants.

"I'm afraid, that I'd be leaving soon. No one knew when I left and I don't want to be looked for. Also, I might not be seeing you in a very long time as Asher might have his men monitoring my every move now, so take care of yourself, okay?"

I nodded, standing to hug him.

"And you too," he turned to Elaine. "Thank you for standing up for my daughter and being her companion in my absence. If things should get worse, you might be the medium through which we remain in contact."

"Take care of yourself too," she shook his hand and saw him off at the door.

"What?" I raised a brow at Elaine after she returned from seeing my dad off.

"We have to leave this place, obviously. Believe it or not, it's just a matter of time before Alpha Asher finds us and drags us back to the packhouse with him."

"And what if I told you that I have a better plan?"

"Oh Selene!" she whined, collapsing on the bed. "This is about you and I care, okay? Alpha Asher doesn't deserve to be with you after all he did especially since it's obvious that he only wants to take advantage of the fact that you are powerful and would be very beneficial to him in subduing other packs and clans!"

"Funny how quickly we've switched roles. You worry a lot and trust me, I have a plan," I told her, looking directly into her eyes.

"And what is this brilliant plan that should make me worry less about your safety?"

"I know someone who wants revenge, someone who wants Asher begging at his feet, and when he learns about my potential, I'd be proud to have found myself a new strong and powerful ally," I smirked.

She rolled her eyes. "This ally has to be of equal strength with our enemy or even more powerful-"

"Alpha Damian is all you can think of and more," I spat and left her in awe at once.
