Chapter 4 LOVE OR DUTY

Killian seems shocked but he tries to hide it. "What are you talking about?" He asks with uncertainty.

"Hazel, the girl you were with last night is a cursed witch." Mira reveals again.

"What do you mean by cursed witch ??" Killian ask, narrowing his gaze.

"She is yet to discover her supernatural powers and she hasn't even made her first shift." Mira explains to his amazement.

"Then why hasn't she being banished or killed yet?" Killian finds himself asking.

"Her judgment was supposed to take place yesterday during the full moon but I have no idea of what caused the delay." Mira replies, folding her hands.

"I saw her sneaking out of the palace this morning." Mira mutters.

"You can leave now!!" Killian orders, he was becoming nervous.

"I'm here to help you clean up your room." Mira said.

"You aren't dressed in a maid's uniform so you're services aren't needed. Leave now!!!" Killian mutters as he stood up.

"But..." Mira was about saying but stopped short when Killian glares at her. She gulps and slowly walks out, an accomplished smile on her face.

Killian stares into space for moments as he tries to wrap his head around what he just heard. Could this really be true??

He just didn't seem to believe the news. Why was he destined to have a cursed witch as his mate. Should he hold on to her words or make more inquiries??

He paced back and forth, his hands placed under his chin as he thought. A guard came in announcing the arrival of the queen mother.

"Greetings mom." Killian greets as he sits down. Queen mother took a seat as she gave him a silly look to which Killan chuckles at.

"Why...why that look." Killian asks.

"Mom!!!!" He whines when she refused to say a word.

"Where is she?" Fiona-- queen mother asks glancing around.

Killian felt the air around him go still as his breath hitches. "Hope she didn't find out about his mate." He screams in his head.

"What do you mean, who is the she?" Killian asks, pretending to be surprised.

"Don't act dumb." Fiona said.

"I don't understand what you're talking about mom." Killian said.

"Oh!! Common, you totally disappeared from the party last night, so it got me thinking..." Fiona explains.

Killian sighs out. Most importantly she didn't find out about Hazel. He thought.

If she finds out, that would surely spring up trouble amongst the pack. But why would the moon goddess destin his mate to be a cursed witch?? How can that be possible?? He would be in real trouble if he ever discloses to anyone that they shared a bond.

"I just felt tired and I returned back to rest." Killian said but Fiona wasn't convinced.

On a normal note, he wasn't planning on lying to his mother. Infact, he was planning on introducing Hazel as his Luna the next morning but he had change of plans, regarding the news he had from Mira that morning. He was confused at the moment and was struggling to make his decision. Was he going to prioritize pack laws over personal love affairs??

"I'm not believing that." Fiona mutters.

"You've got to believe me mom." Killian said as he tuggs at her arms.

"You haven't given me a welcoming hug...you know??" Kilian said, trying to divert from the conversation as Fiona gave him a soothing hug.

"There is going to be a meeting with the elders now and we need to decide on the punishment to be meted out." Fiona suddenly blurts out as she sat up, adjusting her clothes putting on a firm expression.

"What punishment?? Who is getting punshed?" Killian asks.

"A cursed witch." She replies and Killian's eyes widens in disbelief. Mira wasn't lying afterall. He thoughts.

"What's the punishment?" Killian asks, trying not to seem suspicious.

"According to the park laws, anyone who is yet to discover his/her supernatural powers having reached a certain age...the punishment is banning or beheading." Fiona explains.

Killian nods but inside was a turmoil of emotions. He couldn't just imagine that his mate was about to get killed or banished from the pack. What would happen if the members of the pack discovers his bond with her?? Will that save her from her cruel fate or destroy her even more??

"What do you think should be her punishment??" Fiona asks.

"I almost forgot about that. What happened??" Hazel asks Tatiana.

"Well guess who had a hand in it." Tatiana asks as she threw her hair backwards emanating a proud aura.

Qho else if not you." Hazel mutters sadly. "Honestly, I don't know what would have happened to me if you weren't there for me. You've being such a good friend and I don't know how to repay your kindness." Hazel said, emotional tears dripping from her eyes.

When she thinks about the good things Tatiana had done to help her, she couldn't help but cry. It was emotional considering the fact that when everyone turned thier back against her, Tatiana became her only ray of hope and shield.

"You don't have to repay my kindness. Stop the tears, don't make me cry!!" Tatiana mutters in a croaky tone as tears threatens to spill from her eyes.

"You have no idea of the good things you've done for me..good things that I don't deserve at all...Thank you so much Tatiana...you will always remain in my heart even after my death...."

"Shhh..." Tatiana shuts her up.

"Listen to me.....you are not going to die...trust me!!" Tatiana said as she cups her cheeks.

Hazel sniffles.

"Get yourself down here this minute." Fiona said to Tatiana through the mindlink.

"I would have to go now....queen mother just mindlinked." Tatiana announces and Hazel nods in understanding.

Tatiana leaves and the feeling of loneliness hits her so hard. Soon, she stood up to leave and unknown to her Mira was hiding at a corner.

She saw when Tatiana passed that route and now Hazel was also coming from that same direction. She could smell something fishy going on beyween the duo. Why was she just discovering secrets today?? Mira thought as she chuckles.

On her way, a guard suddenly blocks her way and informs her that Alpha Killian seeks her presence.

She soon finds herself walking down the corridor, her heartbeat racing in fear of the unknown. Several thoughts were running through her mind.

Why does he seek her presence?? Or did he find out about the curse?? What might be his decision??

She takes a deep breath before entering his chamber and then she came face-to-face with him. He stares at her blankly, the desire she saw in them earlier had vanished, it was now replaced with emptiness and now she knew that he had found out about the curse and she wouldn't blame him for any decision he makes.

She just stands there shimmering under his intense gaze not knowing what his intentions were.

Was he going to reject her now that he found out about the curse??
