Chapter 8 The Clingy Abby

"Abby, you make me sick. I barely recognize you as my wife. You're not usually like this. And your attitude now... disappoints me."

Leon looked at Abby with a rude snort. He took off his clothes and put them in the washing basket. Leon then faced Abby again.

"Now shut up, don't talk, and let me sleep! I don't want to talk about this anymore."

Abby took a deep breath as she looked at Leon who was lying on the bed and closed his eyes. While Abby stared at him in silence.

Leon who changed drastically can be seen from his current actions. Abby tried to think clearly if Leon was just sleep deprived, which caused him to become more selfish and irritable.

While Leon slept, Abby brought the laundry from his room to the laundry room. She was about to wash, when she found a red stain on the collar of Leon's freshly-worn polo shirt.

"I knew it," Abby muttered under her breath as she tossed Leon's shirt into the trash.

Abby would have bought him a new one instead of washing the lipstick stain. She even felt disgusted and creeped out by the sight of her husband with another woman.

Abby's day-to-day activities were pretty straightforward. She performed her duties as a wife, and then traded, she actually owned a costume rental shop. Abby also secretly had a freelance job for herself. She thought of it as a hobby rather than a job, although she was doing well at it.

Hearing Leon taking a shower, Abby immediately prepared breakfast for him. She always served food right when Leon came out of his room and headed to the kitchen.

"Are you leaving now? Your food is ready," Abby greeted as Leon came downstairs.

"Oh, it smells good." Leon had originally intended to leave immediately, to show that he was angry, but the food smelled too good to leave behind.

Abby smiled as Leon sat at the dining table with her. Leon ate with Abby as usual despite the fact that they had just had a fight. Small arguments like the one just now would pass, and sometimes problems were necessary in relationships.

Beatrice came out of her room while they were eating. Abby glanced at her sarcastically. While Leon was still focused on his food, he was already late for the office.

"Leon, can I join you? I haven't eaten yet," Beatrice said.

"I only cook for two," Abby replied sarcastically.

"You can cook for yourself, right? Or, just eat whatever's available. I'll go now." Leon got up from his chair as soon as he finished eating, he put on his suit.

Beatrice sighed and just nodded slightly lazily as Leon had already finished eating as soon as she arrived. Beatrice looked at Leon who was so neat and well-groomed.

"Did you forget something?" Abby stopped Leon just as he was about to leave.

Leon looked at Abby with a frown on his forehead. He shook his head slowly in doubt.

"A peck?" Abby smiled sweetly, her eyes blinking seductively at her husband.

"Ahh..." Leon chuckled, he still seemed to be blushing at his wife's behavior.

Leon came closer. He kissed her on the forehead, the tip of her nose and Abby's lips. And Abby then did the same. Right in front of Beatrice whose face immediately soured.

"Be careful on the road!"

"Mm, take care of yourself!" Leon nodded as he left the house.

Abby sighed, she glanced at Beatrice and found her sour expression. She was obviously happy to know Beatrice was jealous of how she and Leon interacted. Perhaps the only way to get Beatrice out of their house now was to continue making out.

Abby realized it. Her bickering and fighting with Leon would only make Beatrice happy. What she had to do was to do the opposite, which Beatrice did not like.

"That's so sweet," Beatrice snickered.

Abby just smiled triumphantly.

While Beatrice watched Abby's movements with a displeased look.

***

Beatrice glanced at Abby who seemed to be leaving. She carried her bag and took the car keys. Beatrice then blocked Abby's path, making Abby look her up and down.

"What are you doing?" Abby asked.

"I was wondering where you were going. You're all dressed up," said Beatrice.

"None of your business. Do you think I'm unemployed?" replied Abby sarcastically as she walked away.

Beatrice snorted in disbelief at Abby's seemingly offensive words.

"I'm not working today because the disaster last night shocked me so much. After all, what if I'm not working today?" Beatrice retorted.

"I'm just asking what you think of me." Abby glanced at her sarcastically.

"I was wondering what kind of job you have. Don't you sell yourself?" asked Beatrice as she approached Abby to intimidate her.

"Hah! I'm not as dirty as you who has to sleep with your boss for the good of your salary or promotion," Abby retorted while making fun of her.

Beatrice widened her eyes at Abby's statement. She was certainly surprised how Abby knew about it. Abby happened to know because Beatrice's boss was a friend of Abby's by chance.

Abby chuckled sarcastically. She simply passed Beatrice by. Beatrice could only snort and watch Abby's departure.

***

Abby leaned against Leon, she glanced at Beatrice who was sitting on another sofa, glancing at her too. Abby sat on Leon's lap, leaning against him as if afraid that Beatrice would do it first.

Leon also just rested his chin on Abby's shoulder while watching television.

"I heard Leah was on the road," Beatrice said with a sigh.

"Oh, yeah? She came here?" Leon asked.

"Yes, she is. She seemed to want to cheer me up." Beatrice smiled.

"By the way, I heard there's a cosplay event at the stadium today. Aren't you there?" asked Leon while looking at Abby.

"Mm, no. I'm not feeling well. So, I'll leave it to Olly," Abby replied.

Leon nodded his head while holding Abby's forehead, because Abby said she wasn't feeling well. Abby just smiled while continuing to lean on him. She had been getting spoiled with Leon lately, openly in front of Beatrice.

Beatrice furrowed her brows listening to their conversation.

"I'm going to the room for a while, wait here." Leon lifted Abby to put her on the sofa.

"Wait!" Abby immediately followed behind Leon, reluctant to be left behind by him, let alone with Beatrice.

Beatrice snorted while looking at Abby. Abby had been getting clingy lately, and Leon seemed to melt into Abby easily when Abby was like that.

Beatrice preferred it when she saw Abby and Leon fighting. Unfortunately, lately, their relationship seemed to be doing just fine.

"Excuse me, package!"

Beatrice went out to get the package, which she thought was hers. Unfortunately, it was Abby's, with such a large box. Beatrice snorted as she brought it in and threw it.

"Ugh, what did she buy, anyway? It's so heavy!" she swore.

"Beatrice!" Abby shrieked from the stairs as she saw Beatrice slam the large package, Abby sounding hysterical.
