"She seems to be troubling you a lot with her childish behavior. You don't have to worry about her, she's not a child anymore. Shall we have a drink? It's been a while since we've had a drink," Beatrice coaxed.
Leon immediately gave Beatrice a sharp glance. He didn't expect Beatrice to ask him for a drink when he was worrying about his wife's condition who was nowhere to be found.
"Uh... I'm just trying to calm you down. You know, she's been coming home at night for a long time."
"I can't be drinking at a time like this. I'll catch up her at the store."
"Can I come? I feel bad for her. Maybe, if I apologize properly, she'll accept me and not run off like this," Beatrice said.
Leon snorted. He didn't forbid her from coming at all. He quickly grabbed his car keys.
Beatrice sat next to Leon. She looked at Leon who was currently driving his car somewhere. Leon and Abby had mentioned a place called a store. Beatrice didn't know what kind of store it was and what kind of business Abby was actually doing.
Beatrice glanced at Leon's cell phone, Leon seemed to be trying to contact someone named Olly. Abby also mentioned her name earlier.
"Who's Olly?" asked Beatrice.
"She's Abby's assistant who runs the shop," Leon replied.
Beatrice just nodded her head in understanding.
"I'm sorry to bother you at this time of night. Are you with Abby? Me and her... ugh, had a fight today. She hasn't come home today. Maybe she's in the store with you?" Leon asked.
Olly: ["Oh, hi, Leon! I went to the store for a while to put some costumes on, and Abby was there. Unfortunately I couldn't stay long, so I only came for a short while, I left the rest of the work to Abby. Maybe she's still at the store."]
"Alright, thank you then."
Leon parked his car at a shop that was already closed. Beatrice took a look at the shop, which turned out to have cosplay supplies. It turned out that Abby was working in her field of interest.
Leon looked at the closed store and there was no Abby's car there. He then grunted rudely while circling the store, making sure Abby didn't hide her car behind the store, which Abby must have done.
Not finding Abby, Leon ended up going home with Beatrice again.
"I didn't expect her to be in that business." Beatrice chuckled softly, sounding dismissive of Abby. "You gave her the capital?"
"Yes, I gave it to her as an investor," Leon replied, but he never touched the money from Abby's business.
"It seems to be a successful business in just two years," Beatrice said.
Leon ignored her. He was worried about Abby now. There was no one for Abby to go to, maybe she was staying in a hotel or maybe staying at a friend's place.
Abby's mother had died when she was a child, while her father died when she was about 19 years old. Abby was taken care of by her uncle's family, the Beatrice family. Her uncle was her mother's younger brother. Unfortunately, the Beatrice family was not a place for Abby to go home to.
The Beatrice family cut ties with Abby when they found out Leon wanted to marry Abby instead of Beatrice. At that time, Abby was even provided with an apartment by Leon before they actually got married.
"She already asked you for a divorce, why don't you just divorce her? Isn't that easier for you?" Beatrice had gathered her courage to ask such a question.
"I'll never divorce her," Leon replied quietly, but with emphasis.
"I don't understand. Why are you still holding on to her when she herself wants to break away from you. After all, you're making it harder for yourself, because she doesn't want to be with you anymore."
"Shut your mouth!" Leon gave Beatrice a sharp glance.
Beatrice then fell silent. She furrowed her brows slightly, clearly annoyed by Leon's words just now.
***
Until morning, Leon had not found Abby back. He looked uneasy knowing that his wife hadn't come home all night. That was not good news.
Beatrice noticed how distraught Leon was just because his wife was missing.
"Olly, if Abby contacts you, please call me! If you see her, hold her at your place! I'll give you 250 if you do."
"Caden, have them trace Abby's license plate. She didn't come home after leaving yesterday afternoon!"
Beatrice furrowed her brows. Leon was so determined to find Abby, even using a third person. While she was sure that Abby was just sulking and she would come home quickly.
"Was all that necessary? Don't you think you're overreacting?" Beatrice asked.
"It's quite normal for a husband to worry about his wife's safety," Leon replied coldly.
Beatrice didn't understand anymore. She simply went to her room, wearing Abby's clothes that Leon had taken from Abby's closet. She was preparing to go to her office at the time.
That day, Leon also drove her to his office. Because lately, it was known that Beatrice's car was also in the shop because it broke down. He headed straight to his office as soon as he dropped Beatrice off.
Leon was actually nervous. However, he had to keep working and finish his work first that day. He had also asked his assistant to track Abby's movements.
In the middle of the meeting he was leading, Leon glanced at the message his cell phone had just received.
Caden: Abby's car is at home. Looks like she's back home.
Leon breathed a sigh of relief. He was glad to hear that Abby had finally decided to come home in his absence.
Leon could imagine that Abby would probably ignore him. So before he went home, he went to the flower shop first to buy a bouquet of flowers.
Of course, this was Leon's way of persuading Abby. If Abby had already stepped out of the house and run away for the night like that, Leon knew it was not a good sign. Although this had never happened before. Usually she just went out for a bite to eat or a drink, and came back when she felt better, within a matter of hours, five at the most.
Seeing Abby's car parked at home, made Leon sigh and rush into the house.
"Sweetie...? Abby?" Leon didn't see her downstairs, so he quickly climbed the stairs upstairs.
"Sweetheart?" Leon opened the door to his room, he still hadn't found Abby.
Leon moved to the bathroom, to find that the room remained empty.
Then, his eyes glanced at Abby's closet, where there should be Abby's suitcase. Her suitcase was missing.
"Fuck!" Leon immediately opened Abby's closet, to find some of Abby's clothes missing.
Leon clearly remembered how many piles there should be, as he had recently taken clothes from Abby's closet for Beatrice to wear. He then found a piece of paper on top of Abby's underwear.
{Just give everything to Beatrice, I don't need it. I don't need you either.
-Abigail Grahame}.
"Abigail..." Leon was devastated when Abby refused to use his last name anymore.
