Chapter 4 Leon's Choice

Leon looked upset when he saw Regan looking at his wife like that. He then approached Abby and covered Abby's body from Regan's view quickly.

"Can't you change your clothes first before you go down?" Leon asked sounding annoyed.

"I didn't know there would be so many people. By the way, what's wrong? Is it because of last night?" Abby asked while looking at Leon innocently.

Leon gulped, not sure if he should answer her. He then took his robe and covered Abby's sleepwear with it.

After Abby covered her sleepwear with Leon's robe, Abby joined the rest of the family to discuss something. Abby could already sense that this was related to last night.

Leah rolled her eyes when she saw Leon still embracing Abby. Leah seemed to really dislike Leon's attention on Abby.

"Where's Beatrice? Shouldn't she be here already?" Leah asked while glancing at the clock on the wall.

Abby furrowed her brows when Leah mentioned Beatrice's name. Abby looked at Leon who wasn't looking at her at all, as if he had no intention of interacting with her at all. Abby just sighed softly with a little uneasy feeling.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Beatrice entered the house with the door wide open.

Abby glanced at Beatrice. Then glanced at her mother-in-law who had been silent while drinking tea. Abby started to feel uncomfortable being there.

"Sit down, Trixie!" Leah cheerfully patted the empty spot next to her.

Abby looked at Leah suspiciously, because Leah's call to Beatrice sounded so close. And Beatrice immediately sat next to Leah, right in front of Abby who was sitting next to Leon.

"Leon..." Abby called Leon in a very low, very soft voice.

"It'll only take a minute, we have something to discuss," Leon said coldly.

"Let's get to the point. Abby, you know what you lack, what we can't get from you? We've given you enough time. We've been patient long enough to get what we want. Unfortunately, you haven't given us any good news."

Abby seemed resigned to the situation. She even seemed to know where this was going.

"We want Leon to remarry, and Leon has already agreed to Leon's second marriage, even Leon himself chose Beatrice as his second wife-to-be." Katherine spoke immediately.

Abby set her jaw. She wasn't surprised until she heard the connecting sentence at the end.

"Leon? Chose her himself?" Abby glanced at Leon with a crushed feeling of course.

Lately, Beatrice had been showing herself a lot. Now Abby knew why. Apart from the company's collaborative project to launch a new product, they were also collaborating to give birth to a successor.

It would be a lie if Abby didn't feel tight and the muscles around her chest tightened. Abby gripped Leon's coat that he was wearing.

Given how Leon's attitude was slowly changing towards her, it showed this had been planned for a long time. I don't know when. Maybe since the family meeting last month. Where after that, Leon was colder and Beatrice also appeared after the meeting last month.

"You should be grateful that my brother was reluctant to throw you away. At least you'll be a display piece in this house later. Or, maybe you'll be in charge of babysitting, considering you have nothing to do but dig for gold." Leah began to let out her taunts.

Abby stared at Leah blankly. She was silent this time due to shock. Her lips felt weak to say anything. What's more, Leon kept turning his face away.

Lenon as Abby's father-in-law was staring at Abby's reaction from outside the room. Lenon seemed reluctant to interfere in his son's family matters, signaling how much he trusted Leon.

Unfortunately, it was always the mother and sister, who interfered in the affairs of the proud figure.

"Leon wants to keep you, considering that your marriage cost a lot of money back then. And you can help take care of the baby Beatrice is going to have." Katherine calmly sipped her tea.

"Don't be discouraged, Abby! I'll be fair, I'll persuade Leon to touch you once in a while, in case he forgot about you after I became his wife too." Beatrice smiled kindly at her.

Abby said nothing. Abby immediately got up from her seat and was about to leave the room. However, she then made eye contact with Lenon who was silent. Lenon's silence seemed to be asking her to speak.

"I don't agree! Don't go crazy thinking I'll agree." Abby walked quickly up the stairs.

Leon still didn't react. His blank gaze seemed so burdened with the situation and conditions he had to face at the moment.

"He's running like a pubescent teenager," Leah cursed.

"This must be hard for him. I'll cheer her up later." Beatrice smiled with satisfaction.

Beatrice looked at Leon who still seemed to be very conflicted about this decision. Beatrice didn't understand what made Leon so reluctant to leave Abby.

Beatrice glanced at the pictures on the wall. Leon was smiling very broadly and laughing with Abby in the pictures. They seemed to have the perfect married life. Beatrice must have felt jealous when she realized that Leon didn't regret choosing Abby over her at all.

"Leon, you should be happy that you can have two wives. Your first wife was useless, she was just-"

"Shut your mouth! Don't you know that if you belittle someone, you'll look even lower than the one you're belittling? Especially when she's silent." Leon snapped, clearly fed up with his sister's nonsense.

"What did you say? Aren't you currently just feeling bad for her? Why are you so sensitive and upset? Don't you really want a child? She can't give you what you want when you can give her everything. That's not fair! And I'm trying to be on your side."

Leon got up and pointed at Leah sternly. Which made everyone quiet and silent.

"I'm only doing this because of the Zerathons!"

Leon walked quickly out of the room. He needed a quieter place with plenty of oxygen to control the emotions bottled up inside him.

Leon took out a cigarette from his pocket and was about to light a match.

"Doesn't Abby dislike smoking men?" Lenon walked with his hands behind his back.

Leon stared at his father who walked indifferently around him. He stopped his movement to smoke.

"She's not pregnant. And my sperm has no problem at all, but she's not pregnant yet either."

Leon lit his cigarette and took a deep drag. Leon hadn't smoked in a long time for Abby's sake. And now, he enjoyed his first cigarette after two years in a relaxed and calm manner. After this, he knew he would have a fight with Abby when the others left.

"Am I not your family?" Abby sat on the edge of the bed with her head down.
