Chapter 9 Wedding

Esmeralda paced around the living room thinking of a way to cancel the wedding. "I know you never listen to me but do so now and Marry Kian at least" her father's words ring in her head and she sighs in frustration. How would she stop this marriage. She was still mumbling when Cassie came in. "Am back" Cassie said holding a lot of shopping bags on her hand. "I see you did a lot of shopping" Esmeralda said. "Hehehe, of course, I will be your bridesmaid, I have to look good, don't you think" Cassie smiled dropping the shopping bags on the couch.

"I don't even wanna get married" Esmeralda sighed. "Huh, you can't say that now of all times, your father will kill you" Cassie exclaimed. "You think I don't know that" Esmeralda sighed again. "Just endure, after a year, file for a divorce" Cassie suggested. "That's if I am still alive after a year" Esmeralda said. "I have no choice" Cassie said going into the kitchen. "I know" Esmeralda sighed for the third time.

Three days to the wedding and Esmeralda still hasn't thought of a way to get out of this, Cassie's idea seems to be making a lot of sense, she just has to ignore him for as long as possible and then divorce him after a year. She has seen Kian either. Her mom and kian's mom have been planning a lot for the wedding. She thought they said it would be a small wedding but that's not what it looked like when she went to the wedding venue yesterday.

She received a call from the hospital saying the construction would be over soon. That was fast, she thought. "I can't believe we will be resuming soon to work soon, I want more holidays " Cassie pouted. "If you're complaining, imagine how I'm feeling" Esmeralda said and they both sighed.

"You're getting married? How could you do this to me, you know I have always loved you" Miranda cried through the phone. She was talking to Kian, she wants to talk him out of the marriage. "It's none of your business, can you stop obsessing over me, it's getting infuriating" Kian said and hung up. He had blocked all the numbers she used to call him, but she kept calling and even came to his company to make a scene. "Simon, get the car ready, am going for a business trip" Kian said to Simon. "Sir, your mom said to cancel all business trips and meetings for the next one week as you'll be getting married tomorrow" Simon said shaking, he knew his boss will explode soon.

"What! You take orders from my mom now? She asked you to do it and you did?" Kian glared at him angrily. "I'm sorry sir, your mom is very scary, you need to see the way she looked at me when I told her I couldn't" Simon said at the verge of tears. Ever since he started working here, he has been facing a lot of challenges with both Vivian and Kian. "I don't care, you work for me, you should follow my command not hers, get out" Kian yelled. "And no salary for you this month" he said again in anger. Simon ran out.

Finally, the day has arrived, Esmeralda was sitting in a room, the make-up artist just finished her work on her face and when she looked at herself through the mirror, she could hardly recognise herself. If she was getting married to a man she loved it would have been so much better. She sighed. "You look beautiful dear" Vivian said hugging her. "Thanks" Esmeralda forced a smile. "They are waiting for you" Emily said and Esmeralda nodded. They left her and she looked at her reflection in a mirror and sighed again.

Esmeralda held her father's hands as they waited for the church doors to open. "You look beautiful today" came her father's voice, Esmeralda was shocked, this man hasn't given her a single complement for a long time,. She felt happy hearing this. She smiled at him. The church doors opened and they walked in.

The hall was beautifully decorated, so many food and drinks, people talking and laughing. Esmeralda was sitting, her elbow on the table with her chin resting on her palms. She looked at everyone, they seemed happy but she wasn't. The bride is not happy, how dare they be happy. She thought, she was already boiling with anger with that thought. "If you keep on putting on that scary look, everyone would think you're not happy" kian said, he was sitting beside her. "that's because I am not, who would be happy marrying some like you" Esmeralda glared at him. "A lot of ladies would, but I don't expect that from you, maybe cause you're not a lady" Kian said earning a hard glare from Esmeralda.

Miranda walked towards them, she mustered all her strength to attend the wedding. "Hi" she greeted, smiling at Esmeralda. "hi" Esmeralda looked at her. Kian just rolled his eyes, he knew Miranda was here to cause trouble, but why should he care, Esmeralda should deal with her troubles. He stood up leaving them. Esmeralda watched it leave, she didn't know the lady, so she was expecting the lady to see Kian. "Am kian's girlfriend" Miranda said smiling widely, and stretching her hands towards Esmeralda.

Esmeralda looked at her with a pity face, she was expecting this, she knew those girls kian had played with would come for her. "I wasn't expecting one of you so soon, especially on my wedding day" Esmeralda said smiling. She got up and looked at Miranda, "I feel sorry for you, claiming to be his girlfriend while I am married to him, that means you're his mistress" Esmeralda said placing her hand on Miranda's shoulder, "I advice you come to your senses soon" she said and made to leave but Miranda held her hand, she was boiling with anger. She raised her hands to slap Esmeralda but Esmeralda held her hand. "What are you trying to do, you want to create a scene on my wedding day? Don't you dare?" Esmeralda said shoving Miranda's hand away and walking out. Miranda stood there in anger.

Kian watched as Esmeralda walked towards Cassie and he chuckled.

"What happened, why are so annoyed" Cassie asked as soon as Esmeralda got to her. "Some lady pushed my buttons" Esmeralda said collecting the drink from Cassie's hand and gulping down the content. "Well more of your buttons would be pushed cause Trixie is here" Cassie said. "What?" Esmeralda exclaimed. "Yeah.. and she is walking over here right now" Cassie said looking in the direction of Trixie.

"Congratulations on your wedding" Trixie smiled. "Why are you here, I don't remember sending you an invitation" Esmeralda questioned. "I don't need an invitation to go to by best friend wedding" Trixie answered with a smile. "You're no more a friend not to talk of a best friend, you've been replaced" Cassie said, standing Infront of Esmeralda. Trixie glared at her and Cassie chuckled. "I don't have time for this" Esmeralda turned and left them. Trixie wanted to go after her but Cassie stood in her way. "Where are you going, the bride said she needs to be alone" Cassie said and Trixie wanted to beat the hell out of Cassie but she held herself and walked away.

The bride and groom would now have their dance, Lucas said after giving his long speech and everyone clapped. Esmeralda and kian made their way to the dance floor.
