Chapter 6 Emotions

Esmeralda went home, all she could think about was her father's words, he didn't even care about her, she knew she always disobeyed him but still, she was his daughter, he should care for her more. She sighed, getting into Cassie's apartment. She looked around and couldn't find Cassie, where is she? She thought, taking her phone from her bag she called Cassie to find out her whereabouts. "Where are you?" She voiced out immediately when Cassie picked. "Am at a friend's place, I was bored at home so I went out, sorry" Cassie said.

"Alright, stay safe" Esmeralda said and hung up after Cassie said okay. She went into the bedroom and changed, not without taking a hot shower.

"Your mom said you made her angry" Lucas questioned his son. They were having a family dinner. "I didn't, she got angry on her own and left" Kian said nonchalantly. "She's not a phycopath, how can she get angry without a reason" Vivian said. "I don't know mom, and I don't care, let's just eat" Kian said. "You'll get married to her either way, I have seen her and I like her, I will never get a chance to see such a girl for you again" Vivian said. "Am not getting married to her mom, and I don't think she wants the same" Kian said frustratingly. "We already talked to her parents and they agreed, we would be having a meeting between the two families soon to discuss marriage preparations" Lucas said. "No, you can't do that, I won't get married" Kian said. "You'll get married to Esmeralda wether you want it or not, it's not a choice but a command" Vivian said angrily leaving the dinning. Lucas sighed and continue eating. Kian was already boiling with anger.

It was already 12am and Cassie haven't come back yet, Esmeralda was getting worried. Where did she go, hope she didn't get into any trouble,her phone has been switched it since 10pm. She wanted to call Cassie again when her mom sent her a message. "Having dinner with the Anthonys on Friday by 7pm". Seriously, she hasn't even agreed to marrying hima nd they are already talking about meeting each other families, and why was her mom awake by 12 and sending her a message at that. She sighed and called Cassie again, it finally ringed and she was glad.

"Sorry, my phone was dead and there was a power outage at my friend's place, I won't be coming back home today, I will spend the night here, sorry again" Cassie said immediately she picked the call. "Okay okay, just stay safe I was so worried" Esmeralda complained. "Sorry" Cassie said lowly and Esmeralda hung up, and made to sleep.

Esmeralda woke up by 10, she didn't have to go to work cause of the reconstruction, so she was going to make the most out of her day by watching all the movies she missed. She just finished eating and was in the living room watching a movie when the door bell rang. "Was Cassie back?" She thought, but Cassie won't ring the doorbell, she sighed and went to open the door to meet an unexpected guest, Trixie. "Hey bestie, long time no see" Trixie said walking into the apartment without even asking for permission. "Why are you here?" Esmeralda said indifferently. The audacity of this bitch. "Oh c'mon are you still angry about what happened with Richard, it was a total mistake and nothing more" Trixie tried to coerced Esmeralda. "Enough, I know you're only here cause your rent is almost due, get yourself a fucking job and leave me alone" Esmeralda yelled. Trixie was boiling with anger, she never liked Esmeralda one bit cause Esmeralda was better than her in every way but she still had to swallow all her pride and pretend to like her. "You know it's hard to get a job without a degree" Trixie said sadly. "You would have gotten a degree if you studied well in college" Esmeralda voiced out. "You know my parents can't afford the fees". Trixie reasoned. "And my parents were willing to pay but you refused cause you couldn't bring yourself to study, you've always been lazy and relying on me to cover your finances, but not anymore, am done Trixie, leave me alone " Esmeralda yelled.

"Esme, listen to me it's not like that " Trixie tried to persuade. "I said not anymore, i did everything I could to help you because you were my friend but what did I get in return? Betrayal, you have been having sex with Richard for as long as I don't know, the day I caught you didn't seem like the first time that was happening. I actually suspected it but I brushed it off cause you were my friend and I never believed you'll do that but I was totally wrong, leave right now" Esmeralda said holding on to Trixie and dragging her out of the apartment slamming the door at her face. She fell to ground crying bitterly.

Trixie stomped her feet in anger. "That bitch, she seemed to have wised up, I need to use other means to get money from her or else I won't survive" she said and left Cassie's apartment.

Kian was in his office going there some documents. "Ma'am you can't go in without an appointment" his secretary voice sounded and a lady walked in with an angry expression on. "Tell your stupid secretary not to stop me from seeing you ever again" Miranda said angrily. "Everly, you can leave" Kian said to his secretary and Everly left not without glaring at Miranda. "Kian, my love, I have missed you so much, while in new York, you're all I think about" Miranda said throwing herself at Kian who doesn't seem to care.

"Why are you here" he said pushing her away from him. "To see you of course, don't you miss me?" Miranda asked sadly. "I don't miss you one bit, Miranda, we already broke up, why are you still hovering around me" Kian asked with disgust. Miranda felt a sharp pang on her heart, she had loved Kian for a very long time and did everything in her power to date him. Even though she caught him cheating on her every time she still dated him cause she loved him very much but Kian on the other hand doesn't seem to care about hurting her, after dating for a year, he broke up with her cause she kept getting in his way. But she kept hovering around him and he was getting frustrated.

"How can you say something like that, you know I love you very much" Miranda said trying to touch him but he held her hand. "but I don't love you, what happened between us is over, now leave my office" Kian said. And Miranda was at the verge of tears, she won't give up, she had succeeded in dating him before and she will do it again. She looked at him with love in her eyes and then she finally left.

Cassie came home and met Esmeralda on the couch sleeping, the lines on her face showed she had cried herself to sleep, Cassie sighed, what happened she thought. She went to the bedroom and later came out a short and a t shirt. She sat in the living room, looked and Esmeralda one more time and sighed again. She brought out her phone and was scrolling through social media, and then she screamed loudly waking Esmeralda up. Esmeralda jump up "what happened, is there a thief?" She asked with wide and red eyes. "There's no thief and you look like a zombie with your red eyes and the lines on your face" Cassie said. Esmeralda relaxed, "why did you scream then" she asked.
