Chapter 7 Meeting the family

"What the heck is this?" Esmeralda yelled. Cassie quickly collected her phone from Esmeralda, "don't break my phone out of anger and now you know your mother is serious about your marriage with Kian, happy married life my dear friend" Cassie said smiling. "There's no way I am getting married, why would mom post something like that on social media" Esmeralda said picking up her phone from the couch and made to call her mom. "Not only your mom, kian's mom posted about it too" Cassie said and Esmeralda felt like her brain would explode.

"Esmeralda is getting married, I thought you said you would get her to start dating you again" Trixie said holding her phone in her and yelling at Richard. Richard immediately took the phone from Trixie's hand and was surprised. Esmeralda's mom posted about the marriage between Esmeralda and kian, saying the invitation card to the wedding would be released soon. "How can she do this, getting married immediately we broke up" Richard said feeling disheartening. "If she gets married to this man, we won't be able to get money from her anymore, do something about this Richard" Trixie yelled in frustration. "I will not let this happen, calm down, I will do something about this" Richard said.

"Why did you post something like that" Kian asked his mother through the phone. "Why won't I, we would be meeting her family soon to discuss the date, it's best we let those whores you have out there know" Vivian said and hung up. Kian wanted to protest but saw that Vivian had already hung up on him. He sighed in frustration.

Esmeralda was getting ready for the dinner with the Anthonys, she didn't plan to go but later changed her mind, she wanted to go there and make it clear that she doesn't want to get married to Kian, she hasn't recovered from what happened with Richard, she can't get into another relationship again. She got dressed, and bid Cassie Goodbye. She was wearing a blue of shoulder, knee length gown and black heels, she dressed well as her father would be there and she didn't want him to think she wasn't doing well without his money. They were meeting at Anthony's mansion.

Esmeralda got there and she was let in after confirming her identity. She came down from her car and went into the mansion. Everyone was already sitting and they seem to be getting along well. Kian was quiet though as it was evident he was very angry. "Good evening" Esmeralda said walking into the dining. Everyone turned and welcomed her, she settled on her sit close to her mother's. She glanced at her father, he didn't bother giving her a single glance like she didn't exist at all. She looked at Kian who was staring at her angrily. "I don't want this either" she said in her mind glaring back at him. "Since everyone is here, let's eat" Vivian said and the food was served.

They started eating, "let's quickly pick the wedding date" Vivian said excitedly to Emily. "2 weeks from now" William said and everyone looked at him in shock. "Don't you think it's a bit rushed" Emily asked her husband. "It's better that way, it seems the kids aren't ready to get married, if we don't rush it they would change their minds" Lucas interjected. "I didn't agree in the first place" Kian snapped, he has had enough of all this bullshit. "I don't want to get marr..." He couldn't finish his sentence as his mother had stepped on his foot from under the table. He whinced in pain. "yes, two weeks is okay, it doesn't have to be a big wedding, just few people, with family and friends" Vivian said and the elders nodded. "I will make the invitation card preparations" Emily smiled. Esmeralda couldn't say anything, everything happened so fast it was hard for her mind to process it all. "I think the kids should have sometime to get to know eachother, Kian take Esmeralda for a walk" Lucas said to Kian who looked seriously annoyed. He refused to get up and his mother stepped on his foot again and he got up. Emily signalled her daughter to follow him. Sighing, Esmeralda got up trailing behind Kian.

Kian walked too fast and it was hard for Esmeralda to keep up "can you stop walking too fast" Esmeralda said annoyed. "It's not my fault you have short legs" Kian retorted and Esmeralda felt like punching him. " I don't want to get married either, but it seems we don't have a say in this" Esmeralda said. "Of course, let's get over with this marriage thing. And don't for once expect me to act like a loving husband" Kian said and walked away. "Like you're capable of being a loving husband" Esmeralda murmured. She sighed heavily and went back to the dining.

The dinner was finally over and they bid goodbye to eachother. Getting outside the mansion, William turned to Esmeralda. "You better not mess this up" he said and entered the car. "Call me" Emily said and entered the car and they drove away. Esmeralda sighed and also got into her car, driving away.

"Why couldn't you behave yourself in front of your future in laws" Vivian yelled immediately they were alone. Kian didn't say anything he just stood there. "Let him be, he is getting married soon, the stress" Lucas said. " I doubt his feeling any stress, if you do anything to harm Esmeralda, I will harm you too" Vivian said walking upstairs. "You shouldn't anger your mother, you know how she is" Lucas said. Going after his wife.

"What happened, how did it go, did you manage to tell them you're not getting married, I want to know everything, tell me" Cassie said immediately Esmeralda entered the apartment. She was feeling sleepy but she decided to stay awake to hear everything from Esmeralda. "I'm tired, tomorrow " Esmeralda said slumping on the couch. "No, not tomorrow, now, I didn't miss my beauty sleep for you to tell me tomorrow" Cassie complained and Esmeralda gave up and told Cassie everything.

Early the next day, Esmeralda phone rang non stop. "Can you please pick up your phone, it's to early for me to be awake" Cassie yelled and Esmeralda sluggishly took her phone, not looking at the caller she picked. "I'm outside Cassie's apartment, come out we need to talk" Richard voice came through the phone. "Go away" Esmeralda said and wanted to hung up. "If you don't come outside, I will force my way in" Richard threatened. Esmeralda sighed. Getting up from bed she went to meet Richard with her pyjamas. It was 6 in the morning for fuck sake. Who would come to someone's place by 6. "Are you seriously getting married?" Richard asked immediately he saw Esmeralda. "My private life is none of your business, please leave, I still need to sleep" Esmeralda said yawning. "Answer me first" Richard demanded. "Yes, I am getting married, are you happy now" Esmeralda yelled. "How could you do something like that, what about us" Richard demanded. "You destroyed everything we had when you decided to have sex with my best friend" Esmeralda yelled again and Richard forcefully kissed her.
