Chapter 7 Billionaire's Betrayal: A Love Lost

"Finally, soon you'll be ousted by Daniel yourself, Bella," Angel muttered with a smug smile that looked very cunning. She was truly two-faced and became a friend who stabbed her friend in the back.

Afterwards, Angel laughed satisfactorily while looking at her phone, showing that all the messages she sent to Daniel had been read by the owner of the number. Yes, she was the one who sent all the evidence of the affair between Bella and Edward to Daniel.

Angel's motive was only one: to destroy Bella and Daniel's relationship so she could replace Bella as Daniel's lover. Being friends with Bella for years made Angel always envy Bella's life, including in terms of romance and partners.

So basically, Angel, with everything Bella had, was willing to destroy their friendship. Just wait, soon Bella would surely know that behind all her problems was Angel pulling the strings.

Angel now looked satisfied because she was very sure that all the plans she had been devising for quite some time would end successfully, and she could fulfill her desire to have a nearly perfect lover like Daniel.

"I can't wait to make Daniel fall in love with me because I'm much better than Bella, who's a cheater," Angel muttered again with a radiant smile on her face. She was confident because she was not like Bella, who liked to cheat. On the contrary, Angel was the opposite because she could see the chaos in her own family caused by infidelity.

"Just one more step, and all my plans will surely succeed," Angel continued, with her gaze still fixed on the screen of her phone that she had been holding since earlier.

On the other hand, Bella was seen alone with Edward in a special room that served as Edward's workplace. Not much different from Daniel, Edward was also a boss or CEO in his own company, but his company was far behind Daniel's.

After having lunch with Daniel, Bella immediately went to meet Edward in Edward's office as requested by him. Bella, of course, complied because she still remembered Edward being angry two days ago when Bella refused his request.

"Darling, I'm tired," Edward complained after they finished lunch. So it could be said that Bella had lunch twice for the sake of her affair.

The man casually leaned his head on Bella's shoulder after Bella finished cleaning up their leftovers. Not to mention one of Edward's hands was wrapped around Bella's waist.

Bella smiled softly as she looked at Edward, gently stroking his hair before speaking. "Just rest, Edward. You must be tired from work. Don't push yourself; you might get sick," she said, full of concern.

"Hmm," Edward responded with a soft hum, closing his eyes to enjoy Bella's gentle touch.

"Is there no meeting later? Maybe you should rest," Bella asked again.

Edward shook his head. "No, but I want to finish all my work now, and I still need to sign some important documents," he replied, opening his eyes to gaze at Bella with adoration.

"Can I sleep here?" he continued, pointing to Bella's lap.

Without hesitation, Bella nodded with a smile, readily agreeing to Edward's request.

Edward smiled happily before resting his head on Bella's lap and positioning himself comfortably on the sofa with Bella's leg as a pillow. He looked up at Bella with a radiant smile on his face.

Reflexively, Bella gently stroked Edward's head again, full of care. "There, just sleep here. If it's not comfortable, you can move to the other room," she said.

The other room referred to a small room within the office space, which Edward usually used for resting when he was at the office.

"I can't sleep because I don't want to miss the beautiful view from down here," Edward replied with a longing gaze at Bella, his lips forming a sweet smile.

Bella chuckled, feeling a bit embarrassed by Edward's words. "Don't say that, Edward. I'm embarrassed," she replied.

Ding ding

The sound of notifications appearing several times made Edward abandon his intention to respond to Bella's words.

"Just a moment, dear, it might be important," Edward said, immediately getting Bella's approval.

Edward reached for his phone on the table in front of the sofa and checked it.

"Shit!" he cursed inwardly, his facial expression reflexively turning into a displeased frown. Whatever notification he had just seen, it clearly bothered him.

"What's wrong, dear?" Bella spontaneously asked Edward, noticing the change in his facial expression.

Edward rose from his previous position before shaking his head. "Nothing, dear, it's just something," he replied ambiguously and unclearly, certainly leaving Bella unsatisfied with his answer.

"What is it, dear?" Bella asked again, furrowing her eyebrows.

Edward seemed to briefly avert his gaze from Bella's. "Oh, it's just that there's suddenly an important meeting, and it's scheduled to start in one hour and twenty minutes," he replied, glancing at the clock on his desk.

Bella didn't suspect Edward at all, completely believing his behavior. "Oh, alright then, I'll go home," she replied casually, making Edward secretly breathe a sigh of relief without Bella's knowledge.

"Don't you want to wait here, dear?" Edward asked.

Bella shook her head. "Not now, Edward. I happen to want to take a nap at home," she replied casually while grabbing her sling bag.

"Alright then, take care on the way, dear," Edward said, caressing Bella's head and giving her a brief, affectionate kiss on the forehead.

Bella nodded. Shortly after, she left Edward's office and headed to the office parking lot to get her car.

However, when she arrived at the parking lot, she was surprised to find that both front tires of her car were flat.

"Ugh! This is bad! It must be a puncture. It's impossible for both tires to be flat like this," Bella muttered slightly annoyed when she concluded that what she felt now was her misfortune for the day.

"Ugh! Looks like I'll have to take a taxi," she muttered, thinking of calling a mechanic to the parking lot rather than waiting there.

Bella immediately contacted her family's trusted mechanic as she walked away from the parking area. Afterward, Bella thought that Daniel might be able to help her.

"Good idea, I can ask him to pick me up on the street near Edward's office so Daniel won't suspect me," Bella muttered before she ended up calling Daniel.
