Chapter 4 Billionaire's Betrayal: A Love Lost

"Huffhh! Finally, we're here," Virgo breathed a sigh of relief as he saw Daniel successfully laid down on the bed in his own apartment.

Virgo managed to bring Daniel because of Bella, so they both carried Daniel, who was almost unconscious, from the apartment parking lot to inside Daniel's unit.

"Thank you, Bella," Virgo expressed his gratitude to Bella, who was now silently watching Daniel still moving on the bed while mumbling softly.

Bella nodded. "You're welcome, Virgo. You don't need to thank me; I should be the one apologizing to you for Daniel causing you trouble," she replied with a faint smile.

"Oh no, no need to apologize. I'm used to being bothered by that guy," Virgo replied casually, pointing at Daniel with his chin.

"I'm going home now; my wife has been waiting for my return since earlier. Please take care of Daniel until he falls asleep, okay, Bel?" Virgo added, feeling slightly uneasy about leaving Bella alone with Daniel.

Bella, on the other hand, nodded calmly. She didn't mind accompanying Daniel there when he was unconscious like this. "No problem, Virgo. You'd better go home; I'll take care of Daniel," she replied with a friendly smile.

Virgo nodded and once again apologized for inconveniencing Bella before saying goodbye.

But before leaving Daniel's room entirely, Virgo gave Bella a message. "By the way, if you two have problems, it's better to resolve them sooner. I feel sorry for Daniel; he's been rambling about you since we were at the club, asking for forgiveness."

After Virgo's departure, Bella pondered upon her friend's words about her relationship with Daniel. She looked at Daniel with a difficult-to-interpret expression.

"Are you really that upset that you got drunk because of me? You're not usually like this, Daniel," Bella said softly, sitting down next to Daniel, who now seemed to be asleep.

Bella gently stroked Daniel's furrowed brow and tousled hair, which was also slightly sweaty. "I'm sorry," Bella whispered so softly it was barely audible.

Only that one word did Bella say before she stood up and proceeded to remove Daniel's shoes, which were still on his feet, and carefully took off his jacket.

"Sorry," Bella repeated the same word again before she tucked Daniel in and adjusted the AC temperature in the room.

Bella left Daniel's room and headed to the kitchen, casually grabbing some snacks and drinks from there to bring back to the living room in Daniel's apartment. Bella decided to stay there temporarily, afraid that Daniel might wake up and still be under the influence of alcohol.

Perhaps Bella would also stay overnight there and ask her mother for permission first. Surely, her mother wouldn't mind since Daniel was already close to Bella's family, and vice versa. So, it wasn't surprising that Bella often stayed overnight at Daniel's apartment, but they only slept together and nothing more.

Drrttt

Bella furrowed her brows when she felt her phone vibrating in her pants pocket. She immediately checked it, pausing briefly when she saw the caller's name displayed on her phone.

"Edward," Bella murmured softly before she cleared her throat briefly and answered the call from her lover.

"Yes? Hello, Edward, what's up?"

Bella was momentarily silent as she listened to what Edward said on the other end. 'Oh no, what should I do? I can't just leave Daniel like this; there's no one else in this apartment besides me and Daniel. If I leave, I'm afraid Daniel might wake up and do something reckless because he's probably still under the influence of alcohol,' she thought for a moment before responding to Edward.

"I'm sorry, Edward, I can't go there," Bella replied guiltily.

Bella was taken aback when her call was abruptly ended by Edward, leaving her to sigh heavily, torn between feeling guilty towards Edward and being unable to do anything.

"Huffhh!" Bella sighed heavily. In her current situation, she felt exhausted dealing with two men at once.

"Shit! Why can't Bella come here? Doesn't she know that I'm feeling unwell here?" Edward cursed, lying on his bed in his bedroom.

For some reason, Edward's body suddenly started to feel warm since late afternoon, and he felt unwell after his encounter with Bella earlier in the morning. Whether it was just a coincidence or some sort of karma, Edward was really annoyed.

Edward was really upset; he had complained to Bella about his current condition and asked her to come to his house, but unfortunately, Bella couldn't come over. As a result, Edward was angry and immediately ended their phone call, especially since he didn't get any reason why Bella couldn't come to his house.

"It's not like her to refuse my request like this. Is she now with Daniel?" Edward muttered again, sounding irritated. He felt unacceptable that Bella seemed to prioritize being with Daniel over visiting him at home, even though it was clear that Edward was the second man in Bella's life.

Suspecting that his thoughts might be true, Edward sighed angrily and kicked the pillows and bolster indiscriminately until both items fell scattered on the floor of his room.

Edward didn't pay attention to the person who had just opened his bedroom door; he was now just staring at his unanswered messages from Bella after he unilaterally ended their phone call.

"Oh my, Edward! What are you doing? Why are all the pillows and bolster scattered?"

The voice came from a woman who looked about the same age as Bella, who had just entered Edward's room carrying a tray containing a bowl of porridge, a glass of water, and some medicine.

Edward ignored the woman as if what she said was just a passing breeze, and he didn't acknowledge her presence.

"What's wrong with you, Edward?" the short-haired woman asked, picking up the scattered pillows and bolster from the floor after placing the tray on the nightstand.

"Don't act like a child when you're sick," the woman continued before sitting on the edge of the bed while holding the bowl of porridge.

"Come on, eat first. After this, you have to take your medicine," she said again while picking up the drink for Edward to drink first.

However, Edward himself remained motionless and just remained silent, even though his ears could hear what the woman beside him was saying. Edward truly considered her as if she wasn't there.

"Edward," the woman called out, sighing patiently as she didn't get any response from the man she addressed.
