Chapter 3 Pregnant

Nyla's POV:

My eyes lit up at once. I didn't know where my strength came from, but I managed to break free from the werewolves. Then I rushed to stop the car. The driver didn't slow down at all. I was scared, but I was determined not to retreat. I closed my eyes in fear and waited for the car to hit my body.

This was my last hope; I was willing to accept whatever might happen to me.

Then I heard the screeching of tires. I opened my eyes tremblingly and saw that the nose of the car was only a few inches from me.

At this moment, Killian got out of the car. He slowly walked to me while looking at me indifferently.

If we were driven out of the pack, my mother and I would become rogues. Killian was my only hope. He was the only one who could save us.

At the thought of this, I gritted my teeth and knelt down in front of him.

Mr. Cohen, I beg you. Please don't drive me out of the pack. I am willing to do anything. Just please spare me.

The ground was so hard that I felt pain in my knees. But I couldn't care less.

However, my begging was futile. It seemed I irritated Killian even more. He looked at me with anger in his eyes.

Nyla, before you set me up, you should have prepared yourself to bear my anger.

I wanted to retort. I never did such a thing. I was innocent.

I wanted to tell him all this. But how could I? Everyone thought I really did it. No one would believe me. And if I refuted, I would only annoy Killian more. I might lose my chance of being saved.

I held back my tears and continued to beg him, "Mr. Cohen, please. I really can't leave. My mother is seriously ill. She is in a critical condition in the hospital."

I hoped Killian would show mercy on me. But unfortunately, he didn't believe me at all.

Liar! he shouted. He looked at me disgustedly, turned around, and was about to leave. "You can kneel there all your life."

When I saw this, I was so anxious that I rushed forward and held his leg.

I grabbed his leg tightly. At this moment, I threw away my dignity.

Mr. Cohen, please! I beg you.

But no matter how hard I begged, Killian remained unmoved. He was really ruthless.

He bent down and pried my fingers away one by one. He looked very disgusted.

I was no match for him in terms of strength. After he successfully removed all my fingers, he pushed my shoulder hard.

Fuck off! he shouted.

He pushed me mercilessly, and I fell heavily on the ground.

Because of Killian's attitude toward me, the werewolves around despised me even more. They looked at me more ferociously and immediately ran over to throw me out. I watched Killian leave. My heart was filled with despair. Then I ran away as fast as I could.

I kept running until I reached the hospital. My mother had to know everything that happened.

As soon as I arrived at the hospital entrance, however, I saw a group of people pulling my mother out.

Mom!

I screamed hysterically, rushed to my mother crazily, and held her in my arms. Then, I raised my head and questioned the people of the hospital.

Why are you driving her out? Can't you see she's ill?

They looked at me disgustedly. One of them replied coldly, "This is the Black Moon Pack's hospital. We don't accept rogues here."

I seethed with anger upon hearing this. How could they do this to us?

My mother was a patient. Could they just abandon a patient because of identity?

I wanted to fight against them to defend my mother. But she gently pulled my sleeve and said in a low voice, "Nyla, forget it. Don't argue with them anymore."

I lowered my head and looked at my mother's pale and weak appearance. My tears streamed down my face uncontrollably.

Mom, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

I felt so weak that I collapsed to the ground with my mother in my arms. My tears couldn't stop from falling, blurring my vision. Endless regret and self-blame filled my heart. I was so overwhelmed by sorrow that I couldn't even complete a sentence.

Mom, this is all my fault. I'm too useless. I... I really don't know what to do... Mom...

I cried even harder, hoping I could pour out the heavy feeling in my heart.

My mother brought me up alone. Although we didn't live a good life, she gave me all the love and care every child could ever wish for. But now, I couldn't do anything to save her. I could only watch her dying in my arms.

Watching her slowly lose her breath was the most heartbreaking thing for me.

My mother comforted me in a weak voice, "It's all right. My illness is hard to cure, anyway. So, it's for the best..."

My heart ached even more. Despite her condition, she still managed to comfort me. I was too sad to say anything.

At this moment, my mother raised her hand with difficulty. I held it in a daze.

Then I saw her spread out her hand. On her palm was a ring, inlaid with a crescent-shaped diamond. Judging from its appearance, it looked very valuable.

She said in a much weaker voice, "Nyla, this ring was left by your ancestors. Keep it well. Live well..."

After saying this, she slowly closed her eyes.

Mom! Mom!

I called out desperately. But she was not responding anymore.

Her body gradually turned cold. I held her face tightly and pressed my forehead against hers while tears kept flowing down my face.

My mother was my only family in this world. But she already left me. I wouldn't be seeing her anymore.

The hospital didn't accept dead bodies of rouges as well. So, I had no choice but to take my mother away. I carried her on my back and walked for a long time until I finally found a quiet and remote place where I could bury her.

Now that I was a rogue, I could no longer live in the pack. I had no choice but to wander around. But I didn't have much money on me. Soon, I didn't have anything to support me.

But I didn't care at all. Now that my mother was gone, my life was meaningless. I didn't mind dying anywhere, either.

I didn't know how long I had been wandering until one day, I suddenly felt an irresistible nausea. My stomach churned so uncontrollably that I couldn't help but lean against the wall and vomit.

Such a strange feeling went on for several days. Then suddenly, I realized an incomparably absurd fact.

Could it be that... I was pregnant?
