Chapter 6 The Divorce Settlement Agreement

Thalia thought, 'I have less than three months to live. What else can I do?'

There was a trace of bitterness on the tip of her tongue.

She had loved Adam for ten years, and they had been married for three years. But she had lost spectacularly in her battle for love.

Still, Thalia refused to give in. Her journey for love was long and full of obstacles. She had given everything she had. She refused to surrender without putting up a fight.

At least...

She must get the wedding dress that she deserved!

Even if she had paid a painful price for the wedding dress, she wouldn't complain!

Thalia gathered the divorce paper and went to Matthews Corp. Tower. Just as she was about to walk into the president's office, she was stopped by the secretary.

"Miss, do you have an appointment?"

Thalia's gaze fell on the secretary. "Head in and tell Adam that a woman named Thalia Cloude wants to meet him."

Thalia Cloude?!

The secretary paled slightly.

Thalia was the eldest daughter of the Cloude family, a woman once famous for her beauty in Marino City. Three years ago, she married Adam Matthews, the heir of Mathews Corporation, and became Mrs. Matthews.

Rumor had it that President Matthews didn't want to marry her at that time. But she did something that made Old Master Matthews favour her, and so he forced President Matthews to marry her.

However, rumor had it that after President Matthews got married, he never went home again.

As it seemed, President Matthews really disliked his wife...

The secretary ushered Thalia into the office with a conflicted look on her face.

Adam put down the document in his hand and stared coldly at the woman who entered his office.

In the past three years, since they got married, this woman rarely showed her face around him because she knew that he abhorred her.

But in the past few days, she had appeared before him too frequently.

She either seduced him or begged him to go home to eat some noodles. Now, she even came to his company.

Did she assume that he didn't dare to rough her up just because she was Mrs. Matthews?

"Adam."

He heard the woman's clear and emotionless voice. Then she handed him a document.

He cast a glance at it. When he saw the title of the document, the look in his eyes instantly became astonished.

"This is a divorce settlement agreement. I have put down my signature," Thalia said flatly. "Please keep your promise and design a wedding dress for me."

"Pfft."

Adam chuckled with a look of mockery in his eyes.

"Thalia Cloude, I never promise to design a wedding dress for you."

"If you want a divorce, you must design a wedding dress for me."

Thalia bit her lip and looked at the man's grim expression. She begged, "Adam, I know you're busy and don't have much time to spare... I don't ask for much. You just have to draw me a draft. I can find someone else to make the wedding dress... I know that Agnes Cloude has been waiting for this day for a long time. Don't you want to marry her sooner?

"If you agree to my term, from now on, you will be freed from the shackles of our marriage..."

Her voice was very soft and sounded as if she was pleading.

Adam listened as he stared at the divorce settlement agreement with her signature on it.

Her name, Thalia Cloude, was neatly written on the paper. It was undoubtedly her handwriting.

Once he added his signature, the divorce settlement agreement would be finalized, and the marriage that he had abhorred for the past three years would immediately come to an end!

However...

Didn't she always refuse to get a divorce? Why... was she suddenly willing to sign the divorce paper?"

Adam tried his best to ignore the strange feelings in his heart. He frowned and looked at Thalia, whose face was pale. "What tricks are you playing?"

Thalia felt an ache in her heart.

To him, everything she did was part of a scheme...

Thalia held back her sadness and smiled. "Adam, since you are not turning down my request, it means that you have agreed."

"So, it's a deal. Don't go back on your word!"

After she said that, before Adam even responded, she immediately turned and walked out of the office. She seemed like she was fleeing from Adam, as if she was afraid that he would regret his decision.

Perhaps it was because she left in a hurry. As soon as Thalia stepped into the elevator, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach.

She walked out of the elevator slowly, holding onto the wall for support. Once the pain in her stomach eased a little, she called Mrs. Cloude on the phone.

"Mom, as you wish, I have signed the divorce settlement agreement."

"Good gal, Thalia, my sensible daughter. Mom and dad will make it up to you..."

Listening to her mother's excited voice, Thalia hung up with indifference.

She had less than three months to live. In the next three months, she must live for herself...

Thalia stepped out of the Matthews Corp. Tower. The sunlight shone on her and slowly dispelled the gloomy feelings within her.

However, as soon as she exited the tower, she saw Agnes heading toward her in her wheelchair.
