Chapter 5 Agnes Cloude Committed Suicide

Adam Matthew's facial expression instantly darkened and became grim and murderous.

"Thalia Cloude!"

His voice was as cold as icicles, and the air around him became oppressively chilling.

"What did you do to Agnes? Why did she try to take her own life?"

Adam's words were as sharp as swords. They pierced into Thalia's fragile heart without mercy.

Her lips upturned as she looked at the man in front of her with a bitter smile. "If I say it has nothing to do with me, will you believe me?"

Adam gave her a dark look and quickly walked toward the door.

"Adam!" Thalia called out to him and blocked his path. "Do you really believe that Agnes Cloude will commit suicide? It was perhaps just an act!"

Adam replied without looking back, "Do you think she is as sly and wicked as you?"

Thalia froze. She seemed startled.

Sly and wicked...

Was it how he thought of her, his wife, for the past three years?

Adam did not want to waste time dealing with her. He took a step forward and was about to leave. But Thalia refused to give up on her last chance.

She gritted her teeth and held onto his arm stubbornly. "Adam, don't go..."

She saw that he was only a few steps away from the dining table. All she could say was, "Adam, no matter what happens, can you at least finish the noodles before you go?"

It was so close. Adam almost tasted the noodles she made.

Once he ate the noodles, he would recall the memories that he had lost...

However-

"Crash!"

There was a loud noise. Adam picked up the bowl full of noodles and threw it onto the floor.

"Thalia Cloude, you're such a wicked woman!" Adam glared at her and shoved her onto the floor. "Agnes is your younger sister, and she has committed suicide. She is dying. How could you be so indifferent to her suffering?"

After he said that furiously, he slammed the door and left.

Thalia slumped to the ground weakly. The porcelain shards from the bowl pierced her palm, but she seemed numb to the pain. She stared at the man who rushed out of the house.

Suddenly, blood gushed up her throat and she couldn't help but vomit onto the floor. The blood turned the carpet red.

Adam left her for Agnes, again...

Thalia thought, what was I trying to do just now?

She actually expected Adam to believe her and doubt Agnes... It was very silly of her to have high hopes of winning him back.

Thalia sat in the living room for the whole night. As time passed, the sky gradually brightened and sunlight shone into the house.

"Thalia, are you in there? Open the door!"

There was a loud and abrupt knock on the door. She heard her mother's voice.

Thalia was surprised. She hurried over to open the door.

After she married Adam, she had moved into this mansion. She had lived here for three years, but not once had her mother come to visit.

"Thalia, something bad happened to Agnes!"

As soon as Mrs. Cloude came in, she grabbed Thalia's hand anxiously. Her gaze was filled with worry. "Yesterday, once Adam left, Agnes seemed emotionally unstable. She smashed everything she could find in her room and chased me out. She said she wanted to be left alone... then she stayed in there for a long time. When I started getting worried and opened the door, I found that... she had cut her wrist..."

"Cut her wrist?" Thalia said with a faint smile on her face. "Is the wound deep? Did she bleed a lot?"

Mrs. Cloude's eyes widened. "Thalia, Agnes is your younger sister. She had tried to take her own life. How could you say something like that?"

Thalia looked away and said, "Mom, if you have anything else to say, just say it. Don't beat around the bush."

Agnes was her younger sister. No one knew better than her that Agnes was innately selfish and cowardly.

She would rather believe that pigs could fly than believe that Agnes would commit suicide.

"Thalia, since you've said so, I'll get straight to the point."

Mrs. Cloude sighed. "In the past three years, as Agnes was receiving treatment abroad, the doctor said that she had been traumatized, so she was emotionally unstable. When she came home, she saw you and Adam as a married couple. She couldn't deal with it and tried to take her life... I have lost Agnes once when she was a child. She was as important to me as my life! After she survived the fall three years ago, she had spent years to recover. I don't want to lose her again...

"Thalia, you are my dear daughter. Please take pity on me and save Agnes for my sake, okay?"

Thalia looked at her mother incredulously. If she and Mrs. Cloude didn't look as if they were made from the same mold, she would have suspected that she was adopted. But she was indeed Mrs. Cloude's biological daughter.

Yet, her mother had treated her like she was nothing, breaking her heart again and again.

Thalia looked down slowly. "How do I save Agnes? What do you want me to do?"

"Divorce Adam." Mrs. Cloude grabbed her hand. "If Agnes can be together with Adam, she will be alright."

Thalia was utterly astounded.

It turned out that Agnes's act was not just for Adam. It was also meant for their mother, just so she would convince Thalia to divorce Adam.

"Mom, don't you worry that after I divorce Adam, I will be devastated and trying to take my own life too?"

"Thalia, I believe that you can deal with the heartbreak. You're a strong woman. Divorce is just a minor setback to you, right?"

Mrs. Cloude grasped her by the hand. "You've had a successful career, and you're able-bodied, unlike Agnes. She doesn't have a career, and her legs are paralyzed... Thalia, all Agnes wants is to be with Adam. You can fulfill their wish..."

Thalia looked at her mother, who was staring at her expectantly. She felt blood gushed up her throat again.

Agnes' legs were paralyzed, but did her mother know that her other daughter was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had only three months to live?

Thalia couldn't hold it in any longer. She covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom.

She spat a mouthful of blood into the bathtub. The sight of the red blood was glaring.

Meanwhile, she received a text message on her mobile phone.

It read, "Miss Cloude, your test report is out. The cancer cells in your stomach have spread. I suggest that you immediately check yourself into the hospital for the operation."
