Chapter 7 VII

This method of selection just showed the pride of the Gods, the way Lucid saw things. Anybody they picked will basically become their masters and they, their disciples but despite this fact, the gods didn't bother to pick the one suitable to their path instead just allowed the people to choose.

Looking at the detailed description on the holographic screen of every God he tapped on, Lucid just guessed that the gods didn't care that other gods knew of their powers and just like the ball were invincible enough not to care about these things.

"Ok Lucid focus" Lucid said to himself as he looked through the list of recommended gods, he guessed that for them to recommend them to him then he must be suited to follow the paths that these gods follow.

Looking through the list, Lucid was surprised that most of the gods he saw were ones whose whole divinity revolves around knowledge or wisdom but Lucid had never heard of any of them.

They were all unknown to him in fact Lucid could swear that none of them were known to Earthlings. They were all alien gods or goddesses worshiped by other planets so as a sensible human, Lucid directly ignored them all after all there was no guarantee that they would know what's best for humans.

"Old gods then" Lucid thought then immediately started scrolling through the list of old gods after all it was common knowledge that the older a god, the more powerful and knowledgeable they were.

Take for example the Greek Pantheon, the Titanmarchy or whatever it was called, No matter how powerful Zeus and his brothers were, they needed extra weapons just to go toe to toe with their father, Kronos and it's the same should any of Zeus' kids want to dethrone him or in the Norse Mythology, Thor may be powerful but Odin will still beat him to the ground.

Scrolling through the Old Gods list, Lucid kept an eye out for any familiar name that was related to knowledge or wisdom. Lucid may not exactly be the brightest in education terms or the likes but he strongly believed that with knowledge, strength can be gained easily so Lucid spent the next two(2) or so hours scrolling through several names until he found a name he had seen multiple times in the many fantasy mangas and novels he had read. A name he never even expected to be here

"I thought the Akashic Records was like a library so why is it on the list of gods" Lucid asked himself.

Lucid may not know exactly what the Akashic Records were but he had heard and read about it in many mangas, novels and anime he had seen. Though the main focus of those medias wasn't the Akashic Records, they still showed how powerful it was but despite that The Akashic records was always introduced as some kind of artifact that came into existence before Time began and had been recording everything that happened since then.

In simple terms, it was the Universe's library but this still doesn't explain why its name appeared in the list after all Gods were sentient beings of supernatural origin and phenomenal power but the Akashic records achieved only one of those things, it was of supernatural origin as for power, Lucid wasn't so sure.

"Well Akashic Records it is then '' Lucid said then tapped on it and immediately a tab showing a detailed explanation of the Akashic records was shown but Lucid immediately noticed something wrong with it.

The tab only showed things that even Lucid knew and this was considering the fact that he wasn't a mythology fan, he just read what he saw. It was as though even the Gods didn't know much about it, They used it but they didn't really understand how it works. This was kind of like how the New Gods in the DC Universe used the Mother Boxes but didn't understand how they worked. It wasn't that the Gods were ignorant, it was more of the fact that the Akashic Records offered its services to everybody. If Lucid guessed right then even the holographic screen he was seeing was the work of the Records.

Without thinking much about it, Lucid immediately chose Akashic Records as his Patron God. He did this for two reasons. One was the fact that amongst all knowledge based Gods, who would hold more knowledge than the keeper of Records itself and second was because if fictional stories had thought Lucid anything, it was that powerful artifacts gained sentience after existing for a long time and the Akashic Records has existed from the beginning of Time itself so it would have gained sentience long ago and even if it hadn't, it would at least have some level of intelligence backing it up.

[Selection Complete, Please wait as the Selected God appraises your proposal] a message appeared on the screen

"That explains a lot" Lucid thought as this explained why the Gods would allow the beings here to choose on their own, it was all because at the end of the day, the choice was in the hands of the Gods.

[Your Proposal had been accepted, Please wait for transportation] a second message appeared, much to Lucid's surprise.

After the message appeared, the screen disappeared so Lucid turned to check out the other two who came with him, the ball and the tiger-like creature. Looking over to the ball's location, Lucid could see a holographic screen directly before it but as for the creature, Lucid saw nothing in front of it, this could either mean that whatever system was working here was considerate enough to change the creature's method of choosing or that it was already done

[Hmm you're done already] The ball asked surprised as the screen in front of it disappeared

"Yes, it isn't exactly hard to choose when you already know what type of God you want as your patron" Lucid replied
