Chapter 7 Embarrassment

Cody snorted inwardly.

He thought Noah was being ridiculous and must be out of his mind.

Did Noah think he could use this as an opportunity to get acquainted with Trenton and then make friends with the Reynolds family?

Cody believed the only one in this room who was qualified to talk to Trenton was him.

The Nixon family and Reynolds family were doing business together.

At the thought of this, Cody became prouder than ever.

All the embarrassment and uneasiness he just felt vanished.

People always revered him because he was a Nixon. Today wasn't going to be any different.

Armed with nothing but arrogance, Cody took two steps forward with a warm smile. He soon stretched his hand forward.

"Hello, Trenton. Fancy meeting you here. I'm Cody Nixon. My father, Lloyd Nixon, is the chairman of Nixon Group."

Cody was on cloud nine.

He began to imagine what next would happen.

As long as Trenton was polite to him, people would be in awe to learn that his family actually had ties with the Reynolds family.

How could Noah compete with him after that happened?

Much to his surprise, Trenton just sneered and glared at Cody, wondering what gave this man the audacity to speak to Noah that way.

The fact that Noah didn't want to expose his identity didn't mean Trenton would just stand back and watch someone disrespect him.

Seeing that Cody wanted to shake hands with him, Trenton sneered.

Afterward, he said in a plain tone, "Oh, that surname sounds somewhat familiar. Can you tell me what line of business your family is into?"

Blinded by his urge to brag, Cody didn't take note of the slight contempt in Trenton's tone.

In fact, he became more complacent.

He thought Trenton was being polite to him.

With this thought in mind, Cody nodded slightly and went on to speak about his family's business.

"My family owns Nixon Group. Its headquarters is located in the eastern suburb. We have several construction teams. In the past, we cooperated with Paysine Group to execute several projects."

Trenton nodded his head as if he was deep in thought.

Seeing this, Cody flashed Noah a complacent glance and was about to mock him to no end.

Just then, Trenton's voice silenced them again.

"Huh? Do you think you are a big shot? Thousands of people cooperate with Paysine Group monthly. Do you think executing projects with us makes you special?"

Cody could hardly believe his ears. He tilted his head to the side and froze just to be sure this was happening for real. He was short of words.

A gloom fell on his face as anger made his blood boil and his heart burn.

Although he wanted to fire back, he couldn't afford to offend this man. Trenton was the Reynolds family's trusted butler, so he sure wasn't to be messed with.

Cody gritted his teeth hard. As his temples throbbed, he reluctantly stepped aside.

Trenton rolled his eyes and then looked at Noah with a kind smile. He nodded respectfully.

He couldn't interfere in the issue between Noah and Charlotte even though he badly wanted to set things straight.

Now that he was done here, he left with the bodyguards.

It wasn't until they left that Hazel remembered Cody, who was licking his wounds in a corner.

She hurriedly went to fawn over him again.

She felt that it was a good thing that Caroline received gifts from the Reynolds family, and it would be a double fortune if Cody didn't get angry today and was still interested in marrying Charlotte.

"Don't take what happened just now to heart, Cody. It's time for lunch. Please come and have a seat."

Cody's embarrassment faded a little. He stopped frowning and took a seat at the dining table.

Everyone else sat down.

But when Noah was about to do the same, Hazel stopped him.

"What the hell do you think you are doing? Have you forgotten your job? Go to the kitchen and serve the dishes!"
