Chapter 6 Judgy CEO

Meanwhile, in the Patterson Group, Evan suddenly rushed into the CEO's office and handed Conrad his iPad. He pointed at the screen and said, "Have a look, sir. Isn't that Mr. Xavier Patterson?"

Conrad looked at the iPad screen and saw a screaming headline over a video.

"Young beauty takes advantage of a young man who fainted by the roadside!"

"What? That's definitely Xavier!"

Just as Conrad's eyes widened in surprise, he caught glimpse of the well-dressed woman's face.

Wasn't she the pretty pickpocket who stole a phone at the airport yesterday?

She was not only a thief, but also an exploitative bum. How many bad identities did she have?

And why did she choose Xavier as her target now? What was her purpose? Conrad tapped his chin as several questions swirled in his mind.

After a while, he piped up, "Find out where Xavier is and how he's doing now. Also, get someone to investigate this woman. I want to know everything about her.

"Yes, sir!"

Evan bowed and walked out, intending to carry out his boss's orders immediately. He took an elevator to the sixth floor. Just as he got out of the elevator, he bumped into a woman.

"Sorry about that. I'm in a hurry for an interview." Yvonne bowed and apologized. When she raised her head, Evan was stunned to see her beautiful face.

Wasn't she the woman who he just saw taking advantage of Xavier in the video online? She came here for an interview?

Evan texted Conrad once he got his thoughts together, "Sir, I just bumped into the woman who took advantage of Mr. Xavier Patterson. She came here for an interview. What do I do?"

"Send her to my office now!"

The interview had already ended by the time Yvonne arrived at the venue. She was just about to leave when a young man came and told her that the CEO of the company wanted to see her urgently.

She went in hopes that she would be able to get another shot at the interview. Once she walked into the office, her jaw dropped at the sight of how huge it was. The office was located on the top floor of the skyscraper. There were French windows here, so she could see the sky and a sea of tall buildings outside.

The interior of the office was simple yet so breathtaking. Only gray, white, and black colors were used. It appeared the CEO loved minimalist designs.

Suddenly, Yvonne felt that someone was staring at her.

She turned her head to the direction where the stare came from, only to receive a mild shock.

A man was sitting at a big desk. He tapped the desk with his slender fingers as he stared at her with deep eyes. He looked as if he was cut out from a painting; his handsome face had a pair of sharp eyes, a straight nose, and thin lips. His shoulders were broad.

The majestic aura he exuded made Yvonne shiver. There was something familiar about him.

Suddenly, she perceived a faint sandalwood fragrance.

"Have a seat, Ms. Tate," commanded Conrad, bringing Yvonne back to her senses. She quickly sat opposite him with her back straight.

She figured that this must be Conrad Patterson, the CEO of this company.

He was a big shot in Egoford and also one of the most eligible bachelors. It was said that almost all the girls in the elite social class wanted to be with him. He looked stunning, after all.

Still tapping the desk with his long fingers, Conrad said in a calm tone, "You applied for the perfume designer position, right? Why did you choose us? And how much do you know about this company?"

Yvonne had done her homework on Patterson Group beforehand. She knew a lot about this company's structure and the concepts that were used. As a result, it was a piece of cake to answer this question. The answer she gave was so excellent that she would have gotten a round of applause if other people were present.

Strangely, Conrad snorted and asked, "Do you know what is required of employees here?"

"I don't. Tell me, if you please," Yvonne uttered politely.

"Well, skills and educational background don't mean a thing here. The most important thing to us is the employee's morals. We don't recruit those who don't abide by good moral principles." Conrad leaned back and added, "So you are not qualified to work here."

The smile on Yvonne's face froze.

A spark of fury leaped into her eyes as her face darkened. "Mr. Patterson, if my memory serves me right, this is the first time we are meeting. How are you so sure that I'm not morally upright? You don't even know me!"

"Actually, I do!" Conrad sat up and said sarcastically, "However, I don't owe you an explanation, nor have to tell you what exactly you did!"

What was he talking about? How did he know her? And what did she ever do to offend him?

Yvonne's blood boiled as she wondered what was this man's deal. She couldn't remember meeting him before.

She never wanted to come here for the interview. It was Aiden who convinced her. She did it just so he could stop pestering her about it.

Unfortunately, she happened to meet this arrogant CEO after missing the interview. He could go to hell with the job. Hundreds of people would kill to have her working for them. Good riddance!
