Chapter 4 Time For Revenge

The girl whose phone was stolen couldn't thank Yvonne enough after she got it back. She offered to treat her to a meal, but the offer was politely turned down. Yvonne walked out to look for Waylon and Aiden.

At the same time, Waylon was leaning against the car and chatting with Aiden.

"Aiden, did your mommy ever mention when she will be treating my great-grandfather?" Waylon asked curiously.

Aiden was fiddling with the watch on his wrist at this time. It looked like an ordinary children's watch, but it was actually extraordinary. The screen showed the map of Egoford with just a few clicks.

This was a micro-computer that could connect to the satellite-the latest technology in Strauze.

"No, she didn't. Even if she has plans to do so, I don't think it will be anytime soon. She has an interview to attend soonest."

"An interview?"

Waylon's eyes widened in surprise. "Why is she going for an interview? Your mommy is a medical expert. I don't know of anyone better than her. I bet the top medical schools and organizations would fight to have her under their employment."

Countless rich people had also made their intentions known to Yvonne. They wanted her to be their personal or family doctor. After all, she had the ability to bring the dead back to life.

"My mommy isn't going for an interview at a medical organization or school. She's going to Patterson Group, your family's company. I advised her to apply for a job there," said Aiden, his voice a little firm.

"What? She's going to Patterson Group?"

Waylon couldn't believe his ears. His face turned red with worry.

"You shouldn't have given her such advice. Haven't you heard that the CEO of Patterson Group is a mean man? He gets angry easily and gives the employees a tough time. Everyone in Egoford is afraid of him. What if your mother accidentally steps on his toes and he bullies her? You know what? Tell her to go for an interview elsewhere, okay?"

Aiden finally raised his head and looked up at Waylon with his eyebrows knitted in confusion. "You of all people should know that my mother is a strong and intelligent woman. Why would she be afraid of anyone? Besides, the CEO of Patterson Group is your relative, isn't he? I heard that he's a young man who is taking the business world by storm. It seems he's better than what you describe about him."

Aiden folded his arms and squinted at Waylon. Then he asked suspiciously, "Why do you dislike him? Have you ever stepped on his toes? Is that why you hid in Strauze and refused to return? Were you afraid that he would catch you and teach you a lesson?"

Waylon's heart skipped a beat. His face turned pale when he remembered that horrible past.

He lost his tongue as fear surged inside him.

"Tell me!" After Aiden didn't get any response, he shrugged and said, "Fine. Even if you don't tell me, I will find out myself!"

"Little boy, don't threaten me just because you are a top hacker. Well, here's the thing. The CEO of Patterson Group is my uncle. We are not particularly on good terms," Waylon immediately said with lingering fear.

"What?"

Aiden rubbed his chin, his eyes narrowing again. "So, Conrad is your uncle? I didn't know that! Tell me, what transpired between you two? Why aren't you on good terms?"

Waylon sighed and muttered pitifully, "I really don't want to talk about that. If I tell you what happened, I won't be able to hide anywhere. My uncle will hunt me to the ends of the earth! Stop pestering me. I'll buy you ten cones of ice cream later. Do we have a deal?"

Actually, what he did at that time was out of kindness. He didn't expect things to turn out that way.

"Hmm!" Aiden rubbed his chin again as if he was giving it a thought. He then wagged his finger at Waylon and said, "I'll let you go for now. You mustn't go back on your word. If you don't buy me the ice cream, I will-"

"That's not a problem. I'll surely buy it," Waylon interrupted, looking at the little boy in awe.

As soon as Yvonne walked out of the airport, Waylon ran to her and said in a flattering tone, "I know you haven't settled down yet, but I need to know when you will do me the honor of treating my great-grandfather? You are the only one that can make him better."

After thinking for a while, Yvonne responded, "Well, I have an interview at Patterson Group tomorrow. I'm free afterward, so arrange for treatment then."

"Okay, thank you so much! Let's go. I'll take you to the apartment."

Waylon happily opened the car door for them.

On the way, Yvonne stared at the scenery outside. She couldn't help but notice that there were more skyscrapers and electronic billboards than she remembered. She was in a daze.

"Yvonne, you left Egoford six years ago. It has changed a lot, hasn't it?" Waylon, who was behind the wheel, suddenly asked.

"Yes, it has."

Memories flooded Yvonne's mind. She wound down the window and took in the air of the city she once lived in while staring at the buildings.

All of a sudden, the car passed by a tall commercial building. The sign on it read, "Tate Group". Yvonne straightened up and looked back.

Tate Group developed so much within a few years? How surprising!

For a moment, Yvonne was transported to that unfortunate day when she was disowned by her father and left home. She remembered the cruel words her father said to her and how Natalia smiled complacently. She suppressed her sadness and clenched her fists with determination.

She was back now.

It was time for her to take back everything that was hers!
