Chapter 7 Weighty Threats

Yvonne sprang up to her feet. There was no way in hell she was going to stay polite to this man who was so impolite. "Mr. Patterson, the fact that you are the CEO of this company doesn't give you the right to insult me as you wish. You should have just said that you don't want me to work here. I have never met you before. It's preposterous that you are making assumptions about me. How can a respected person like you make unfounded accusations about an applicant? For your information, Patterson Group is not the only company in this city. I'll apply elsewhere!"

Evan, who had been standing by the door, was shocked to the bones when he heard this. This woman was so bold! Didn't she know who she was talking to?

No one in their right mind dared to offend him in Egoford. Anyone who did had to flee for their lives.

Never had anyone dared to speak Conrad in this manner.

Conrad was too stunned to speak for many seconds. After finding his tongue, he uttered coldly, "What makes you think you will get hired elsewhere after I rejected you? Haven't you heard that I have great connections here?"

He was resorting to threatening her now? The nerve of him!

Yvonne wanted to cuss him out, but she said, "I'm not afraid of you, Conrad! If you think you can spoil my chances of getting a job here, you are in for a big surprise. Just wait and see. No one knows tomorrow. Just pray that you don't need my help one day. I'm one to hold a grudge. If you ever need my help, I won't hesitate to humiliate you!"

With her bag in her hand, she opened the door and walked out angrily.

Conrad was insane as far as she was concerned!

After the door was banged shut, Evan studied his boss's face before saying cautiously, "Boss, do you need me to deal with that-"

"No need."

Conrad felt that she wasn't worth the trouble and she was only fibbing. How could an ordinary woman pose a threat to him?

Evan went on to report other things. "Well, Fox is yet to agree to the cooperation. However, I heard that the formula for some magical medicine would be auctioned in Egoford tonight. Once we get our hands on it, it can be used on your grandfather."

Hearing this, Conrad sighed deeply. He had to employ other means to prolong his grandfather's life since he couldn't find Doctor Y.

He hoped the medicine would give his grandfather more strength to hold on, pending the time Doctor Y was found.

"I'll be attending the auction myself," he said, reclining in his chair.

Anger was steaming out of Yvonne's ears as she went all the way home. Walking down the corridor, she cursed, "Damn it! Damn it! I must get back at that wicked man! He mustn't go scot-free!"

The moment she opened the door and walked in, she fell into a tight embrace.

"Oh, Yvonne! You're finally back!"

Isabella Walsh squeezed her so much that Yvonne coughed and said, "You are squishing me. Do you want to strangle me to death just because we haven't seen each other in ages?"

Isabella, a cool young woman on a buzz cut, finally let go of her. She gave her a playful slap on the shoulder and said, "You can't blame me. I can't control myself because I missed you to death. I'm so glad you are back!"

"Aww!" Yvonne held her chest, looking at her best friend with shiny eyes.

She was indebted to her friend. Six years ago, Natalia had sent some people after her. Isabella was the one who helped her escape and made it possible for her to begin a new life in another country.

They had missed each other for the entire six years. Now that they met again, they had a lot of catching up to do. Isabella pulled her to the sofa and asked, "Aiden told me you went for an interview in Patterson Group. How did it go?"

Fury surged through Yvonne now that this was mentioned. She clenched her fists tightly.

"The CEO is insane!"

The complacent expression Conrad had a while back flashed through Yvonne's mind. She uttered through gritted teeth, "Conrad should be in a psychiatric home. I wonder why they made him CEO. He's so dumb and condescending. I pity the woman who would be unfortunate enough to marry him!"

Isabella was a little surprised by the way her friend described Conrad. She sat up with interest. "Is he that bad? The word on the street is that he's a handsome, capable, and rich young man. Every girl in Egoford wants to be with him. I never heard that he was terrible."

"Trust me, girl. He might be good-looking, but he's not all right in the head. He needs to have his brain checked. He spoiled my day!"

Yvonne's eyes turned red as she intoned with determination, "I must have my revenge. He will soon know that I'm not a woman he can trifle with!"

"Mommy, did Conrad bully you?" Aiden, who listened to their conversation from a corner, suddenly showed up and asked.

Yvonne's anger flew out the window. She pulled her son into her arms and patted his head affectionately.

"Yes, he did."

"Don't be angry. I can help you teach him an unforgettable lesson!" Aiden offered immediately, raising his head to look at her face.

He then turned back to his laptop screen. His eyes looked indignant as he typed away on the keyboard.

How could his daddy treat his mommy so badly? He had to fix this right away!

When they were abroad, Yvonne had told him that his father had died, but he never believed her. He had felt it in his guts that his father was alive and well.

Using his connections and resources of the hacking underworld, it wasn't long before Aiden soon found out that his father was actually the CEO of Patterson Group, Conrad.
