Chapter 9 You Are Alive

"Do you have any plans for your trip back?" In a private restaurant, they ordered dishes. Ronin asked her, unable to hold back anymore.

He sounded casual but cared.

He had a feeling that Ellie didn't come back purely for work. The one thing he was most worried about was her entanglement with Jeffrey.

He was afraid that Jeffrey would recognize her.

Though living a new identity, she was still Scarlett.

Ronin felt Jeffrey's dramatic reaction when he met her. It was not that easy to fool the man.

He could only try his best to prevent them from crossing paths.

When she heard Ronin's hoarse voice, her hand holding a cup of water paused, but she soon regained her composure.

Plans?

There wasn't anything specific yet. Her priority was to consolidate her footing in showbiz and become an actress.

She liked singing, but it was not her entire world.

In fact, her major was acting. She studied it for her mother.

And she came back for her mother and grandfather.

Ellie didn't tell Ronin about this because she wanted to be an independent woman.

She would take everything back on her own.

Most importantly, she didn't want to drag him down.

At that, she put down the cup and smiled, "Not really, I think I'll record a new album. I received a contract for a mini-movie. The shooting will start sometime later."

She paused and added, "There may be a concert. The specifics haven't been nailed yet."

Ronin's eyes went dim, but he followed the topic instead of pressing her, "You won't take a vacation or anything?"

He was worried about her health. Although the doctor wasn't 100 percent sure, there was indeed a problem.

"Take it easy, I'm really fine. Since I'm just back, there isn't much work yet." Ellie remained composed and gave him a reassuring look.

"What about you? Continue your romantic journey?" Ellie steered the topic to him.

As soon as her voice died away, Ronin gave her a depressed look. He was reluctant to talk about his family. Though years apart, he still couldn't forgive his cold-blooded father.

He had been blaming himself for that matter. In his mind, if his father helped Scarlett back then, the Park Family might not have ended up like this, and Scarlett wouldn't have left town for so many years.

From his silence, Ellie learned that the knot between his father and him still hadn't been undone. Therefore, she stopped pressing.

Before leaving the restaurant, Ellie went to the bathroom and happened to see Jada Sandoval coming out.

"S... Scarlett? You are alive?" An appalled Jada looked at Ellie, and her voice trembled uncontrollably.

Ellie frowned, snapped back to her senses, glanced at the woman indifferently, and responded, "Wrong person, I'm not Scarlett."

Jada was Luna's younger sister. Many years ago, the three of them were close friends. Since Jada was the youngest one, Luna and Scarlett often looked after her.

Later, Jada began to hate Ellie because of Callan Perez while Luna liked Jeffrey. In the end, the three became the worst enemies.

To be precise, she became the two sisters' enemy. All day long, the two racked their brains to embarrass her.

Ellie looked at Jada, who hadn't changed much, and had a headache. On the first day of her return, she met people she wanted to see the least.

She heard that Jada fell in love with Callan. Was she having dinner here with the man?

As soon as Callan crossed Ellie's mind, the gentle voice of a man came from behind, "Jada, you ready?"
