Chapter 8 I Don't Want to See Your Face Again

Ronin pulled a long face and headed to the ward. When he walked past Jeffrey, his face turned livid.

He just feared exposing Ellie's identity. Or else, he would have fought Jeffrey with his life.

Though he was no match for Jeffrey...

He had protected this girl since they were little. This man, however, hurt her repeatedly and almost got her killed.

"Miss Massey's condition is not good?" Jeffrey noticed Ronin's sullen face and laid his eyes on the doctor behind him.

"What has it got to do with you? Jeffrey, go away as far as you can. I don't want to see your face again, Ellie either."

Jeffrey ignored him, cocked his brow, and continued to gaze at Dr. Flynn.

Dr. Flynn adjusted his glasses, noticed Ronin's warning gaze, looked at the expressionless Jeffrey, and replied in a low voice, "Mr. Hodges, it's complicated. Miss Massey's head was seriously injured before..."

"Hey, Ellie's condition has nothing to do with him." Ronin's stern voice cut the doctor short.

He glared at the doctor and then looked at Jeffrey. His eyes were wide open and his face flushed.

Jeffrey took an indifferent glance at Ronin and then the ward through the glass door. In the end, he fished out the vibrating phone in his pocket and walked towards the exit.

"I don't care about the situation. I need a good result. Since I'm responsible for her accident, I'll come another day. Contact me if anything happens." Jeffrey concluded and went off.

"Damn, don't you get it? As I said, it has nothing to do with you. Don't show up in front of Ellie again." Ronin yelled at the leaving figure.

"What's wrong? Easy." Ronin pushed the door open and saw Ellie right in front of him. Their eyes met.

"Jeffrey, that jerk, you have..." Knowing what he was going to say, Ellie hurriedly pulled him inside, opened the door, and signaled to the nurse to go.

Ronin realized his imprudence and awkwardly shut up his mouth.

"What are you doing?" Ronin's face fell as soon as he saw the removed syringe and her packed luggage.

Before the doctor's words sank in, Ellie gave him another headache. In his view, he would be angered to death by her one day.

Ellie glanced at him and replied nonchalantly, "Getting discharged, of course. I'm really fine. In fact, his car didn't hit me that hard. I passed out because of hypoglycemia. I didn't eat anything all day."

She paused and showed an aggrieved face, "I'm starving. This is our first meeting after five years. Wouldn't you treat me to dinner?"

Ronin stiffened to see her like that. His heart felt like being pricked by a needle. He tasted bitterness and pain inside.

Back when they were little, Scarlett was like this, girlish, mischievous, and talkative. When she was unhappy, she would pout and look at him with an aggrieved face.

Five years apart, he feared that she might have changed dramatically. When he just came in and saw her tenacious, calm face, he felt depressed.

He wanted to ask her how she had lived in the past five years but did not dare. He dared not ask and listen because he knew one thing too well. Even if he asked her, she would not tell him her real experience.

She was once injured so badly, and he knew that she would not say a word about it.

When he listened to the doctor's explanation in the office, the rims of his eyes reddened uncontrollably.

From her current behavior, he realized that she hadn't changed a bit. She was still that girl who liked to pout and trusted him unconditionally.

So, her happiness was what mattered.

As for other things, he would help her shoulder them!

"Ellie, don't look down on me. Come on, I'll treat you to a feast. Even if you want tons of diamonds, I'll buy them for you."

Ronin grabbed her hand and led her out of the ward.

"Who wants diamonds? I'd like to have a gourmet meal." Ellie didn't draw her hand back. Although they hadn't met for years, he was still like a brother to her.

In her mind, no matter what happened, he would be the closest person to her. He would always be there for her and give her power.

"What's so special about a gourmet meal? You'll have the world's delicacies."

"Ronin the blowhard is bragging again." When Ronin was little, he liked to brag and earned the nickname of Ronin the blowhard

Both of them laughed.

"Scarlett, how dare you call me by my nickname. I could hit a patient."
