Chapter 7 Ellie Was Not Scarlett

Ellie Massey.

Female, born 25 years ago in a remote mountain village in L.A., abandoned by her parents at the age of one, and brought up in an orphanage.

Sponsored to study in Zurich five years ago.

Three years ago, she was discovered on the street by a talent scout and featured in a beverage commercial. After that, she joined Starlight Entertainment and teamed up with another girl named Stella. ST Girls was the name of their group. She made her debut as a singer two years ago.

Two albums and several singles had been released. She registered a great performance and popularity. Today, she came back to their headquarters in L.A. for the first time. Signing sessions of her latest album were in embryo.

This was all the information Kian had collected about Ellie.

So, Ellie was not Scarlett.

It was reasonable. The plane fell off the cliff back then, and the wreckage was in terrible condition. Even those soldiers and officers on board didn't make it, not to mention a weak girl.

Besides, she was not the only one whose body was not found.

Disappointment rose from the bottom of his heart. He had predicted such a result. When he saw it with his own eyes, however, he still couldn't help feeling down.

He even thought of pulp dramas and imagined her memory loss.

In the end, those were just imaginations.

But if she were not Scarlett, why did he feel Scarlett in her?

If she were not Scarlett, why did she look like her so much? Even their voices were the same.

Jeffrey looked down at his phone and knitted his brows.

Was it possible that she didn't board the plane that day?

He immediately ruled it out. The airport staff had confirmed that every passenger was on board.

"Mr. Hodges, go ahead with your business. You don't have to stay here. Although your car ran me over, I broke the traffic rules in the first place. The medical fee you paid will be returned. If your car is damaged, I'll pay the necessary compensation."

When Ellie's voice came from behind, his brows twitched, but his usual coldness soon recovered.

She was lying on a stretcher when someone pushed her over to the ward. She glanced at him and looked away.

Her voice was calm and her pale face was expressionless.

If this were in the past, she would be overjoyed to have him at her sickbed, and now...

She didn't want any form of connection with him.

"I'll take care of the medical expenses. My car is fine. Don't worry about it, Miss Massey." Jeffrey put away his phone, dropped his eyes, and looked at her.

"It was Jeffrey. His car hit Ellie." A noise came from the end of the corridor, and then a swarm of reporters rushed over.

"Mr. Hodges, may I ask about your relationship with Ellie?"

"Mr. Hodges, could you tell us Ellie's current condition?"

"Mr. Hodges..."

"Push her inside and close the door." Jeffrey glanced at Ellie coldly and urged the nurse.

Then he laid his eyes on those bodyguards at the door, "Are you just standing here? Drive them away!" Jeffrey snapped. His face was sullen while his voice was icy.

The swarming reporters were awed by his chilling voice, but their professionalism forbad them to give up so easily.

"What's going on?" Ronin was upset after learning about Ellie's situation, and the noises outside pissed him up.

"You have one minute to get the hell out of the hospital, or you won't be reporters ever again." He yelled at them.

Most of the reporters backed off, but some bold ones pointed the cameras to him, "Mr. Gates, may I ask why you are here in the hospital? Are you here to visit Ellie?"

The question gave rise to an uproar in the crowd.

"Mr. Gates, may I ask if Ellie is your new girlfriend?"

"Mr. Gates, when did you start dating Ellie?"

...

"Get lost, all of you." Ronin flared up and yelled at them again.

Those reporters had to put down their cameras and zip their mouths.

Ronin was the sole heir to the Gates Family. They couldn't afford to offend him.

"Quiet, you're in a hospital. Media people, please leave the inpatient department." The head of the inpatient department came up with around 20 security guards, and those reporters were finally driven away.
