Chapter 7 A Gift Of A Five-Star Hotel

In the VIP ward

Laura was lying in a bed with a respirator. She had fallen asleep.

Patrick knew she was exhausted, so he didn't try to disturb her. He wanted her to have a good rest.

After one last glance, Patrick quietly turned off the lights and closed the door behind him.

The old man in the tuxedo was standing outside the ward. He had been following Patrick around ever since he first showed up.

Patrick looked at him in confusion and asked, "Who are you?"

He was still reeling from what had just happened.

The old man smiled at Patrick and introduced himself. "I'm Elvin Griffin, your father's butler."

Patrick's eyes widened in disbelief. "You mean that that phone call wasn't a scam?"

"No, it wasn't. Your father is Walter Nelson, the richest man in the country."

Patrick's mind went completely blank. For a moment, he wondered if he had heard the old man correctly.

Walter Nelson was the chairman of Nelson Group and the wealthiest man in the country. He had the economy of Asopool, the capital of this country, in the palm of his hand.

Elvin was saying that Walter Nelson was Patrick's biological father.

Everything seemed so unreal. Patrick was even tempted to pinch himself to see if he was dreaming.

But then he thought about his mother and her illness. She could be saved.

Patrick looked to the ward and his expression softened.

Elvin observed his every movement. Seeing the worried look in his eyes, he tried to reassure him. "Don't worry. Your foster mother's condition has stabilized..."

"What? That's my mother! Don't call her my foster mother ever again!" Patrick immediately flew into a fit of rage.

It was true that Laura was his foster mother, not his biological mother.

Patrick had known this since the beginning. When he was a child, his biological mother died in a big fire-a horror he witnessed with his own eyes.

It was Laura who risked her life to save him from the fire.

He had been living with Laura since then. She raised him all by herself.

Yes, she wasn't his biological mother, but she had sacrificed her life to look after him. He could never repay her for her kindness.

Elvin lowered his head apologetically. "Please forgive me, sir. As for your biological mother... I have to tell you the truth. The fire was no accident. Somebody deliberately started the fire and killed her!"

Memories of the fire resurfaced in Patrick's mind. His head began to throb.

This was the last thing he wanted to think about.

Elvin continued gravely, "And the culprit is still alive. Even your father can't get rid of them."

Patrick clenched his fists. He felt an indescribable hostility towards Walter Nelson.

If he really was his father, why didn't he protect his mother? And why didn't he help Laura raise him?

"If he can't do it, I'll do it myself."

Elvin looked at Patrick in surprise, startled by his commanding air.

Suddenly, Patrick's phone started to ring.

Patrick glanced at the caller ID and then answered the call. Immediately, he was greeted by Elissa's arrogant voice.

"Patrick Nelson! You don't deserve me! We should break up! The money you gave me before should be counted as compensation for all the time I wasted on you over the years. Don't call me again, got it? My new boyfriend might get mad."

A poor man like Patrick was of little use to Elissa, so she broke up with him without a second thought.

Patrick didn't say a word until Elissa hung up.

He smiled wryly. This vicious woman wasn't worth his time.

Now, he could clearly see through this woman's vanity.

Elvin overheard it all and got very angry. He tried to comfort Patrick.

"Such a woman doesn't deserve you at all. Don't worry. There are plenty of girls in the world. I'm sure she'll regret breaking up with you after knowing your real identity."

Unexpectedly, Patrick asked, "Elvin, can you help me investigate this woman?"

"Of course. Just give me five minutes and I'll have everything you want to know about her!" With that, Elvin left.

Five minutes later, Elvin returned.

He reported everything to Patrick in detail.

Patrick took note of one thing: Elissa's new boyfriend was Judson Cohen, the manager of Skiyton Hotel.

Skiyton Hotel was the sole five-star hotel in the city.

"Sir, I bought this hotel for you with my own money," Elvin said with a smile.

"What?" Patrick looked at Elvin in shock.

Even when grocery shopping, people would check the price first. How could Elvin buy a five-star hotel like it was nothing?

It was one of the top groups in Asopool, and consequently, the whole country.

Just what kind of power did it hold?
