Chapter 7 Work for the inspector.

The inspector went by the name, Dōng méi. Inspector dong méi was the person in charge of the operation alongside two colonels. The tent was filled up with police department, everyone of them try to make a contribution to ensure that the culprit didn't get away with the robbery. Colonel Chūn huà and Chàn juān were the ones that helped the inspector in solving the crises. Things were already getting out of hand because the ministry were already demanding for an intervention but yet, they were all tied up because of the words dropped by the gang leader.

The press needed to be updated on the issue at hand, the present condition of the bank and also to ascertain that the lives of the hostages were safe. Since the detective convinced him that the hostages were doing fine and from their discussion, he promised him that after he was done addressing the press, some of them would be released instantly.

He probably wanted him to make the announcement because he just didn't want people to start placing them as the bad one, he wanted to start changing their conception and to make them understand the reason for the heist. The inspector answered lots of questions from the press but he didn't forget to use the words of the detective, of course he was watching the press conference from his hideout. Méi played along and just then, half of the hostages that stayed downstairs were released including the security personnel. At that moment, people started to believe in what they said and the inspector too, just had to calm down and sort things out using dialogue as the detective had instructed. Immediately the inspector came back to the tent, he had a phone call waiting for him, it was Mr Anonymous.

All the exit doors in the bank were heavily secured with explosives and that made the police to keep their distance. It was already ten hours into the robbery and they were yet to start work from the inside. They were waiting for the Detective's order but just as they waited, the hostages needed to eat and change clothes to what they brought. After they made the hostages to wear the same outfit and mask, it became very difficult to differentiate between them and the hostages, that was put in check incase if any forceful intervention to break into the bank was initiated. They took turns to guard the hostages, as Lorenzo and Yan stayed with the governor of the bank, Miguel and two other members of the gang stayed with the hostages whereas, the remaining were on patrol to make sure everywhere was safe.

" I would award you for a job well done, you did as I expected", the detective told the inspector over the phone.

" What do you want again this time?"

" Tell me inspector, when last did your wife scream your name in bed, when last did you both make out and you felt the ecstasy?"

The phone was on speak out and everyone around was getting to be part of the discussion, they heard everything loud and clear. He felt somehow embarrassed but yet, that was a conversation he needed to carry on with to avoid the slightest provocation.

" Are you being serious, you expect me to answer this, with all ears waiting to hear?" he responded.

" You are smarter than this, you shouldn't be embarrassed with whatever you do with your wife unless your work has been a pain in the ass for you that you don't even have time for your wife at all?"

" You know you are right somehow, home has been calling but work has been insistent. Even when I gotta go home and rest, you pulled me out again, and now you care to know how my wife feels?"

" Since you continue to be an obedience boy to those assholes, I guess it would be a good thing if your wife divorces you, don't you think so? At least you will have enough time to think less about home and become a full instrument", Mr Wang suggested.

The entire tent became very hot for him, it seemed as if what the detective said was actually true. He couldn't even raise his face that moment because all eyes were on him to know his response and reactions, whether he would make use of harsh words or abusive statements but seemed he maintained his cool.

" So, what do you plan to gain from all these?" Méi asked him.

" Well, I'm glad you asked. I just wanted to let you realize that you'd better be home and attend to the need of your family and not to abandon your family affairs over the selfish interest of the government..., you don't even know the last time you spoke with your son all in the name of being an inspector. Anyways, it seemed am talking too much, I will call you soon but before then, don't mess around..... over and out", that was how the conversation ended.

Alicia just admired the way the detective was handling his conversation with the inspector, it was as if he wrote everything down in a book but that wasn't the case. Listening to the detective speak, one wouldn't even notice his Chinese accent unlike the inspector who even went as far as using Chinese language to communicate. Inside the tent, it was as if everyone felt the guilt in Méi's heart and no one talked to him, they all minded their different business as since the place was very hot for him, he forced himself outside of the tent. That was approximately sixteen hours since the bank was hijacked. He stood outside and observed the whole area starting from the bank structures to the number of policeman standing by and the vehicles as well. He was terrified how they all got outsmarted and even helpless at the current situation, he was beginning to get tired of the whole stuff even without knowing that the real robbery was yet to get started.

" Inspector", one of the officers came outside to call his attention to what was happening inside.

" What's this, what's happening?" he asked.

" They are trying to stream something online and seems the transmitted it nationwide, tv stations are already playing it", the radio and computer analyst told him.

The inspector asked him to play the video for them to see and behold, it was one of the masked robbers that was on the tv, he probably had something to say. Funny enough, it was a lady's voice.

One of the things the detective taught them was how to draw the sympathy and support of the people. If they were able to do that, the justification of their act would be less assured. He always told them what to say, how to go about it and who to talk at the designated time. That time, it was Alicia that would speak up because of the fact that she would be with the detective on the outside. With her Spanish accent, they would definitely know that she wasn't of the Chinese origin.

" You will be in your best state of mind and with your uniform and mask on your face, you will address the mass and it would play live in all tv stations. The help will come from out team at Saint Petersburg would do the operation of streaming it live in all tv station".

" wait, another team at Saint Petersburg?" Miguel asked.

" Yes we have a team there and also in Bangladesh, but that's not the issue right now, you will still know more about that. Just know we aren't working alone, we've got back ups".

" So, what do I say to the public?" Alicia asked.

" Good, once the camera is on you, you start by stating what we came to the bank to do. Make them understand that we planned the heist just to punish the government for the bad fate they had brought to the citizens of country. Don't forget to assure them that the safety of the hostages is guaranteed and to that effect, video proof would be shown and that time, they would be with their meals. Be as compassionate as possible and your tone and choice of word should be able to attract the sympathy of the public. The video proof would be taken by Lorenzo and from Saint Petersburg, the video would be posted on tv stations as well", he concluded.

Just at the mercy of the life section on tv, the police department were rendered useless and played fools because they were working for the government authorities. They needed something to nab the robbers and be seen as the good guys instead. To worsen the situation, Alicia on behalf of the robbers, dropped a social media handle with the username, Mr Anonymous. That alone gave them millions of followers overnight and to the shock of the police, the robbers gained a lot of supporters because they were getting tired of the way the affairs of the country were being handled.

" You know, your Spanish accent made you smarter than you are, you really won the heart of the people", the detective commended Alicia for a work well done.

" I just have to put in my best to make it work, thank God it worked".

Twenty four hours into the robbery, that's exactly one day, the gang gained lots of followers which got into millions overnight and that made the government to be more careful in the way they handled the situation because everyone was watching. It was time for the main robbery to begin, since the detective was able to resolve the situation outside of the bank, he then bought himself plenty time to concentrate on the issue inside the bank. It was time for the governor of the bank to play his own role of which if he did, the heist would end that particular day.

" Kangaroo, bring the governor to the phone, the business is about getting real", he told him over the phone.

He dragged the governor over to a seat where the telephone connection was, and just then, the Detective's voice played. He did his normal informal communication before hitting his card. All he wanted to inquire was the total amount of money that the bank had presently and certain information he needed to gather about the country's accounting. Just like he expected, the governor wouldn't want to give out such information just like that and he blatantly refused to cooperate.

" What do we do when the governor refuses to say anything about the bank finance, he would probably not give any shit about it because at some point, he would know that we didn't come to the bank to kill and would definitely not kill him even if he refused to give out the information, what do we do next?" he asked as his eyes was gazing on all of them but yet, there wasn't any response.

" Ok, we will place before him what he would never expect. One of his son studies at the University of Saint Petersburg and since our team are there, a video proof would be shown to him and in that video, they will have his son under their captivity and that would be our last card. With that, he would easily give in to whatever we want him to do. I be he wouldn't see it coming, after then, when he must have given us what we wanted, Acacia and Aarul who would be on patrol will come up immediately for the main job to start. There would be nothing to worry about because the police wouldn't want to make any interference at that moment, I will have them engaged seriously".

The governor of the bank hand absolutely no other option than to dance to the tone of music they played. With his cooperation, the work load on them reduced and the robbery started at exactly the thirtieth hour since the commencement of the robbery. The detective needed to get some fresh air and also know what was going on in the street to help him in his work.
