Chapter 8 -8

The journey back home was more quiet than it was earlier Elliot was just sited with his eyes closed not receiving calls this time. Soon it was time for Alexia to get down as Harry packed the car in front of her apartment. She turned to her side and saw the god-like figure sited with eyes closed, she knew he wasn't sleeping -or maybe he was . She climbed down from the car said goodnight to Harry and left

Elliot was still quiet and lost in thought as the car drove away from peace estate. The words Alexia said about having a low tolerance for alcohol kept ringing like a hall bell in his head, her tolerance for alcohol was sky-rocketly high, at least he had a chance of witnessing it first hand but she actually said she has low tolerance. Why in heavens name would she say that he thought. He sighed rubbing his fingers in his temple frustratedly. He's a very successful business man, and since he began running the company, he has never experience a situation as difficult and confusing as this -just what is this woman

"Sir should I drive to the manor?" Harry suddenly asked interrupting his train of thought. The manor Harry was referring to was the Cobb's family house.

"No Harry, I'll go over at the weekend" Elliot responded

Alexia got home tired, she freshened up, changed into her pj brought out a bottle of wine from the cabinet and started to drink. It was late into the night and she couldn't sleep -more like she was afraid of sleeping. After drinking to her satisfaction, she opened one of the drawers at her bedside table and took out a bottle containing pills and swallowed two of it.

It was 7:30am in the morning and Alexia just got to the office. She knocked on Mr Cobb's door and entered after receiving permission to "Good morning Mr Cobb" she greeted "good morning Miss Brooke" Elliot responded without taking his eyes off his computer

It so early and he's already so engrossed in work Alexia said silently "should I get you coffee or tea" she asked

"Coffee will do" Elliot responded and Alexia left

After a while she came back with the coffee and dropped it on the desk. Elliot stopped typing, picked up the cup of coffee and took a sip

"miss Brooke.." he snapped spitting out the coffee in his mouth back to the cup "what did you put in here, are you trying to poison me". He said furiously.

Oh God! what have you done ..Alexia subconscious spoke, this was the first time she was making coffee, personally she prefers tea and has never had coffee so she had no idea how to make one or how it tastes even "Err..am.. sorry" Alexia said

Elliot raised his head up and stared at Alexia she had an apologetic look on her face for the first time. he also didn't fail to notice that unlike the other few times he had seen her she was wearing a little too much makeup today and he wondered why

"did you suffer from a nightmare yesterday?" Elliot aske

"....." For a moment Alexia didn't how to respond, she couldn't understand why Elliot was suddenly asking her such a question, did he perhaps discover something already? she knew it was only a matter of time before her real identity gets exposed, she was aware of how smart this man sited here can be, of course she had already made her research before applying for an internship program, but even though she knew there's a tendency that he would have looked into her, she also knew he wouldn't outrightly expose her at least not yet

-we have to prepare ahead of that time her subconscious said cautiously

Sensing her questioning gaze Elliot said further as if trying to explain "you're wearing a little too much makeup today which is unlike you"

"Oh.." she said relieved

"I was.. a little.. busy yesterday and couldn't sleep but it was certainly not a NIGHTMARE" Alexia spoke coherently placing more emphasis on the nightmare

"Get ready we'll be attending a meeting with the the representatives of the Hutton company after work today" Elliot said

"The Hutton company huh..?" Alexia said almost in a whisper Elliot wasn't sure if he was supposed to hear that but he did anyway, he was sure he also heard the hostility coming from her voice -why wasn't he surprised

Obviously cause he had read from the information he has that she was initially a member of the Hutton family but some where along the line after returning to the city she decided to take on her mother's last name 'Brooke'

Curiosity kicks in big time.

He knew they have to be a reason why she suddenly did that and he couldn't wait to find out why

"Is there a problem miss Brooke?" Elliot asked

"No... not at all Mr Cobb" she responded and excused herself

Alexia stood in her office lost in thought she had a smirk on her face "seems like we're meeting a little earlhan planned" she said . Alexia picked her phone and placed a call to a strange number

"I want a detailed report about everything happening in the buttons company"
