Chapter 2 The match

The referee blew his whitsle twice and the players got ready for the match. The rest of the students that were not interested in the match went to do their laundry.

Robert pulled his socks and walked to his wing in the field and got ready for the whistle. Finally the familiar sound echoed and all the players began to run around the field. Grade 12 class's Nicki swooped the ball from Jackson and made for the post. He was careless enough to loose the ball to the defender who crossed the ball to mickey a grade 11 student.

Mickey made for the post of the grade 12 but he was unfortunately tackled by a grade 11 student.

The whistle blew and the act was surmised as a foul.

The whistle blew loudly again and the grade 12 Nicki went beserk and he ran with the ball while he manoeuvred the ball under Jackson's feet and finally Nickii kicked the ball with all his might and the ball was sent flying over the keeper's head but surprisingly it deflected from the post and fell on the grass as if an invisible force had hit it away.

While everyone looked at themselves in confusion, Robert was at one side of the field panting heavily. He clearly remembered what happened In the past few seconds when he felt some vibrations and suddenly he was at the post and an unknown force caused his hand to hit the ball away. He also noticed that everyone was still, as if time had frozen.

That second the grade 12 spectators had the cheerful looks for they knew that the keeper had no hope to catch the ball. The grade 11's had given up all hopes.Then he flashed back to his previous position.

"Hmm", The grade 12 hostel master noticed Robert's sudden disappearance and reappearance but he couldn't explain it and it was too fast for him to understand. He turned around and left for his lodge.

The match continued and Robert played like never before and he did some manoeuvres before scoring a goal, and another. Jackson stared at Robert with awe and jealousy as he saw him playing like a star on the field.

"Damned guy after stealing my girlfriend you came over to steal my spot light!", He loathed Robert. He then received the ball that was passed to him and bolted for the post of the grade 12.

Tom shouted at him to pass the ball but he paid deaf ears and was about to score a desperate goal when the ball was taken from him. He frantically chased after the ball. On the other hand Robert rushed and manoeuvred it from the grade 12 student. He rushed for the post went through the defenders and kicked furiously. Almost at the same time Robert was tackled by no other than Jackson. The ball went through the post and tore the net!. All the grade 11 kids and supporting fans cheered loudly.

Jackson looked at Robert in anger and jealously as he thanked his God that no one noticed his dubious act. Robert held his legs and saw blood gushing out of a deep scratch. He winced in pain but almost immediately the wound sealed and healed completely not even leaving a scar behind. He marveled and stood up as his fans raised him up cheerful. Clearly they didn't notice his wound and the freakish healing.

"I'm The man of today's match thanks to the strange force that buffed me with those incredible speed and healing", he mumbled to himself smiling.

He waved at Vanessa who was waving from a distance but almost immediately the voice blared. "I'm the one the one who granted you those powers!", Robert screamed before falling to the ground although many hands were holding him high in the air.

He spat away the dust that was on his lips before looking up to see everyone looking at him in amazement.
