Chapter 9 The King's strange decision

"What did you say? Because, I think I'm hearing things" he said looking startled.

"You are not hearing things, you heard what I said and I mean it" King Cecil said bluntly and Prince Cedric scoffed and got up from the bed

"Mom! Seriously?" he said because yesterday she acted like she loved the girl. She got up and headed to Cedric and held his arm to calm the angry looking prince

"I love Aurora, I want her to be the princess, I tried to convince your dad but he doesn't want to listen, he said his word is final" she said remorsefully and he pushed her hands away.

"Just because she's not a princess" he scoffed.

"Well, I'm not getting married to your princess either, I'm going to get married to Aurora even if it means I'll break your rule" he declared unruffled and got into the bathroom.

"What's wrong with you, you liked Aurora yesterday, why the hell did you change your mind! " Queen Rodney hurled at king Cecil but he just ignored her and left the room.

She shook her head in disbelief.

At the dinning, the king and queen with their guest sat down together enjoying the nice meal quietly as usual without the prince, then the king broke the silence

"Oh, Queen Elizabeth, my son has finally returned from his quest, I'd like you to see him right now but I think he's busy resting from the long journey" he lied tenderly

"That's wonderful, so... you'll prepare for the engagement party, right ?" she asked

"Yes, and princess Elaina will get married to Cedric since she's the only beautiful princess here" he complimented while smiling at Elaina.

Queen Rodney couldn't sit down and listen to all what the king is saying, so she got up and left the dinning hall

"Queen Rodney are..." Queen Elizabeth was saying but stopped.

"Don't worry, she's fine" he assumed.

"Don't worry everything will go well"

"I wouldn't want it not to" she smirked.

At the guest room - Elaina brushed her hair for the 50th time, the prince is finally back she has to make her first impression with the prince to go well.

Her mom applied a pink lipstick on her lips and gave her the finishing touches, a peck.

"Thanks mom" she greeted and smiled.

Elaina decided to go to the prince's room to make her first move, she approached the door then sighed despondently.

"Here goes nothing"

She gently knocked at the door, she fiddled with her hands waiting for the prince to open. Then immediately the door opened, she was staring right into the eyes of this handsome man he was standing inbetween the door

"How can I help you beauty" he said and she blushed. First impression and the Prince is already calling her beauty, she thought.

"Diego, who's there" she heard someone say from inside the room

"It's a damsel" he said and winked at her, she almost fainted, she thinks things are going well

"So, you are prince Diego? I'm princess Elaina of Urtwood" she said and he chuckled

"Well Princess Elaina, it's my pleasure having you here" he said and bowed slightly then continued

"But you are mistaken, I'm not the prince" he blurted and her countenance Changed. She became confused and pissed at the same time, just when she felt everything was going well, he's not the prince!

If he's not the prince then who is he? she wondered because the so-called Diego just wasted her time.

"What do you want" she heard someone say icily from behind. She turned around and bumped into the person, because he was too close, she almost fell but regained her stamina.

She looked at him, he's so handsome with his deep brown hair and light blue eyes, could he be the prince? She wondered narrowing her eyes and looking closely at him.

He has a familiar face but she can't remember where she saw him.

"Oh yeah, prince Cedric this..." Diego said pointing at Elaina and she smiled

"...Princess Elaina was looking for you" Diego said and Cedric scoffed and passed by her hitting her shoulder and she staggered.

"Ouch" she grimaced.

"It hurts" she told him but Cedric didn't even flinch, Diego went to help her

"At least apologize to her" he said and Cedric chuckled remembering how she shouted at him when he was pretending to be a commoner, has she forgotten or she's acting like she doesn't remember.

Cedric went to her

"Are you alright?" he asked clenching his teeth and she nodded

"Oh where are my manners" he said then smirked.

"Hello princess Elaina, I'm Prince Cedric, the commoner you insulted" he grinned then left.

Diego heard what he said then shook his head in disappointment. Tears rolled down her cheeks

"What have I done" she mouthed. As they entered the room, she cleaned her face

"It doesn't matter if you hate me, you'll still marry me" she said and left the place.

She went back to her room and plonk herself on the bed

"Elaina, what happened? How did it go?" her mom asked with excitement flushing through her.

"It was terrible" Elaina answered and she frowned

"Why terrible? The prince didn't like you?" she inquired

Elaina sat down on the bed and explain everything to her mom, how she made the prince hate her because she insulted him when he was pretending to be a commoner.

"Elaina darling, why are you stressing yourself, King Cecil promised that you'll get married to Cedric, so no need to worry. Besides, Prince Cedric has to get engaged tomorrow and he has no one but you" she gave her daughter a reason to smile ignorant of what is going on.

After Elaina left, Cedric prepared to visit Aurora. Just then his mom entered

"Good morning your highness" Sanjay and Diego greeted in unison and she nodded, Cedric still continued with what he was doing

"Cedric I know you are mad right now, but I figured out a way you can marry Aurora legally at the party" Cedric being interested paused and looked at his mom

"I realize your father doesn't want you to marry her because she's a commoner, well..." she handed over a key to him

"That's the key to the safe of money, get as much money as you want and make Aurora a princess" she directed and they all beamed

"Whoa Cedric, this is so thrilling" Sanjay said happily.

Cedric hugged his Mom

"Thank you, I'm glad you are the smart one" he flattered

"Let's get started" he ordered and headed to the door with his friends.
