Chapter 9 Suspected

They were out to get her

"Do you have a necklace like this?" The elder asked looking at her his brow tightened and furrowed

'This is girl is not frightened. She is a good sidling' the vice sect master thought to himself

She looked calm.

That alone was a cultivated value. Not everybody could be calm in face of crisis

"Yes." She answered unbothered

"Then you confess the necklace is yours."

"I didn't say it's mine."

"But you said you have one like this one. From other disciples, you don't take off your own."

"That's true. I don't get mine off, but sometimes I have to take it off. Especially when I take a bath."

"Were you involved with the murder of the disciples?"

"Why should I. I am just a trash with little spirit energy. Besides, you just said they were killed by an expert"

"Then where is your necklace" He was amused by her. She really was something else. He liked her attitude

"She inserted her hand inside her gown and got the necklace out. She then showed it to him indifferently. She looked over at Njeri young among the crown with a smirk.

Njeri Young was disappointed. The result was not what she expected. She did not want to push it any further or it would have come back to her. She didn't understand. How did she survive? She had used all of her savings to get those people to kill her. She gritted her teeth looking at her in hatred

John who was beside looked at her meaningfully. He was not involved but he knew she was. Her weird expression when Lin got her necklace out fell on his sight. He knew the reason why he didn't want to marry Lin but that did not mean he hated her

She had seen his humiliation and he felt very angry and ashamed. He lost face before her. He didn't know what to do to redeem his image. He could never bring himself to hurt her more than he had done. He thought she would spread rumors about his situation but no one has discussed anything about it. His respect for her had gone a little higher. He pulled Njeri Young aside and asked her curiously

'" Did you have anything to do with what happened yesterday." He asked with a stern voice

"I don't know what you are talking about." She answered looking aside. He knew her and knew her capability

"Why would you do something of a sort?" He asked with her gritting his teeth in anger. He had never thought of her killing Lin no matter how much he loathed her appearance.

"This is the reason why I have been mean to her. Yes I sent them to kill her. Because you have not given your heart to me completely. You are still thinking of her." Njeri young shouted in anger shoving Him out of her way taking a step back.

Your mind is still on her. I have seen the way you look at her since she woke up. If it continues then you are going to leave me. The best way is to kill her. But no, she had to survive and they men I spend so much to hire died. "She didn't even realized she was in the assembly with all those people looking at them. Silence enveloped the whole assembly. By the time she came to her senses, she was stunned. The vice sect master had arrived before them.

"Do you mind repeating what you have just said?" She panicked looking him blankly. She didn't know what to say. She was caught red handed.

Lin didn't not say anything and walk down the stage. She placed her necklace inside her sleeves and joined them for a show.

"Every dog has its day they say." She said with a mocking smile plastered on her face.

"I...I...I." She didn't need to explain. Everyone heard what she had said. Being a cultivator, the elders at the end heard the conversation clearly.

Njeri turned and saw Lin looking at her behind the vice sect master and ran crazy

"It's all your fault. You should've stayed away from Ekai. He didn't love you and yet you could not let him go. I wish you were dead from the last beating you got."

"That's it young girls. You will have to come with me." The vice sent roared at her angrily.

"Guards, take her away."

"Everyone. We are sorry for the commotion. Go back to your cultivation" He said and led the elders back to their different factions

Each of the elders in the sect had their faction. The herbal, fist, sword, security and others including medical which was the most important. They were just the outer sect elders but they had power to help disciples enter the inner sect

When Lina and Awinja turned to leave to their respective class for lessons, the vice set master suddenly turned and called out for Lin. That caused the other disciples to turn to them in interest

"I am sorry about today." He apologized which stunned both Lin and the rest of the students. He gave an awkward smile which made Lin more embarrassed than he was.

"Don't apologize master, it was only a misunderstanding". She wanted to ease the situation but it seemed it made it even worse

"I would like to invite you for tea." He asked again. This time all smiles than he was few minutes ago scolding Njeri and asking her questions

"Sure." She wanted to know what he wanted. From the way he spoke he wanted something from her

"Great. This way." He said and led the way for her. Awinja excused herself and headed back to the residence. She followed the vice sect master to his faction

He led her to his office and sat down cross legged.

"Did you kill those people yesterday?" he asked as if asking his child.

"No. I was in my chamber sleeping. I didn't t even know what happened." She said a matter of fact looking straight into his eyes. Her character really impressed him He wanted to take her as his disciple. He saw potential in her. She really something.

"I see. I have not called you here to ask so many things. It does not concern you as it has been proven." He said trying to find the right words to express his thoughts

"Go ahead and ask whatever you want. Please." He was stunned by her bold attitude. He smiled at her and asked.

"Would you like to be my disciple?" Even he himself found it hard to believe he asked that question.
