"Where did I have it last?" she asked herself and went up to the roof. That's was the last time she had touched her necklace. She jumped on the roof to look, but it was not there.
"No. It can't be ...." She immediately thought of the fight she had earlier. Could it be....what am I thinking? No...no," she sat down, looking at the flying figures moving from one residence to the other with worry.
'If they find the necklace, then I will be linked.'
Awinja woke to the sound voices at a distance. She sensed her master on the roof and joined her. She did not jump but used a ladder.
"What's happening?"
"I don't know?" Lin answered her with an awkward smile on her face. Of course, she knew what was happening.
"Let's go inside. It may not be safe for us here. We will find out what's happening tomorrow," she said to Awinja, absent-minded. She didn't know what would happen. If the necklace was among the bodies. She will be done for.
She walked in, contemplating back inside, and entered her room.
She intended to sit on the bed but saw something shining with a bit of silver glint. She stood up abruptly and looked at it closely.
"What!?" she asked, surprised. She had looked for the necklace all over the room. It was not there.
She held the necklace and looked at it. It was the same necklace
She turned to look around, not seeing anyone
"Could I have mistaken?" She asked herself, looking at the messed up room
What she didn't know what someone was hiding outside the residence looking at her
It was the man in the dark. He tracked the elders and stole the necklace.
She sighed deeply and went back to sleep. Whatever was happening was none of her business.
Early the next, all over 300 students at the outer sect assembly area.
Lin and Awinja dragged their bodies to the meeting area.
Her changed demeanor really kept people off. Even those that bullied her found it hard to find fault with her. In her white gown, she looked elegant and cold. The only problem was the sharp scar across her face.
The students were standing, some seated on the ground, at the waiting bay, at the stone seat, and literary everywhere in the assembly area. She found a good spot at the back of the assembly and sat down.
Soon, she could hear murmuring about what could have happened among the crowd.
"I heard there was an assassin last night, and six disciples were killed."
"I have heard that too."
"Are we in danger? From what the elders were discussing, it seemed to be an expert."
The disciples discussed among themselves.
All this time, the culprit was quite sitting down behind everyone. She parted the concrete space and laid down, waiting for whatever was going to happen.
Soon the elders came, and the Barraza quieted down. Lin and Awinja stood as required to pay their respect and waited for them to speak.
"Martial arts decides your fate and your life and death as well. Here in the Kong sect, the strong are considered the kings, and the weak are the slave. Many of you have neglected your cultivation and gone astray.
You have forgotten that in the Zen continent, the weak are humiliated, and the strong worshiped. If you don't practice, then you will only shame the sect and yourself." Said the vice sect, Master Mike Young.
He continued, "There was an incident yesterday. Six of your fellow disciples were killed by an unknown assailant. From the investigation, this was an inside job. We know some of you hold grudges, but the sect rule is the same. Don't fight among yourself. If you want to fight, issue a challenge on the arena. Life and death can be determined there. Even so, it would not be good to kill each other on something you can resolve.
We found a necklace that we believe belongs to one of you." Elder Young said, looking at the hundreds of eyes looking at him
"Who can tell whose necklace is this?"
He flipped his hand, and the necklace turned into a huge image that everyone could see in close proximity.
'So this is the power of an advanced cultivator at the peak?'
'I will be strong to take care of the people around me.'
Lin Morong said to herself before looking at the piercing gaze she felt from her side.
She turned to find Njeri young-looking deeply at her.
She had an evil smile plastered on her face.
With a small gesture, she signaled a girl at the front. Though no one noticed, John Ekai, who was standing next to her, noticed, and so did she
She frowned and wondered what their plan was.
John was embarrassed each time he threw a gaze at her. He seemed to want to talk to her.
"I saw that necklace with Lin Morong, vice sect Master. She never gets it off," The female disciple at the front shouted. Everyone in the assembly turned to look at her. Those that did not know her were asking the question
All of the action fell on a certain someone in the shadows. He had a smirk at the corner of his mouth.
"Is that so?" The elder asked. He turned and shouted to Lin Morong to go over to the podium.
She walked in a majestic posture, a step at a time forward. They made way for her unconsciously. She didn't look panicked at all. It was all within her expectation.
