Chapter 8 Relationship

Roland is wondering if Jane's friends knew who she was. it has come to his notice that they talk to her casually and he couldn't help but ask.

" Jane, do your friends know who you are??

" nope". she answered him plainly.

" why?

" I don't want to repeat the past " I want them to treat me like a normal human being, not some competition. I want a fair life"

" is this about Charlotte's challenge?? he asked knowing what Charlotte said to her was like a dare

" yes yes and yes. I'm not some daddy's girl. my talent was hereditary not bought. my knowledge I studied hard for it and she thinks I flourished because my parents helped me ?? I'm going to prove to her that I don't need anyone's support" she answered

" Okay okay. it's all my fault. but you have a house and a wonderful job. isn't that enough??

" no, it's not. I'm not going back there. "

" suit yourself. what about a second chance. you're the only girl that I know" he pleaded

" Roland, you and Charlotte are meant for each other. count me out of it. I paid you for the years you waited for me while I studied abroad but you ruined everything. so don't blame me. I tried my best but you let Charlotte use you to get to me. she took everything that I was so proud of from me that will never change" I'm sorry.

" But you haven't found anyone yet. so I'm not too late maybe you still love me.

" my heart is as dead as a stone. there's no ounce of love in it for anyone again. you living with me is proof. haven't you noticed?? she asked

Roland thought of it for a while and concluded she was still hurt.

In Nina's house>>>

Thea hasn't seen Nina for a month now and was worried about her

" so Thea have you heard from Nina yet? asked Jane

" I tried calling but she's not picking. why don't you try? said, Thea

" she's not picking it's like she's on a honeymoon," said Jane who can't seem to understand her reasons.

" Love makes you do things, Jane. you should try it" said Thea

" been there, done that. what kind of love is that? I should be heading home. said, Jane

'"I guess. your boyfriend awaits" Thea teased

" who Roland? he's more than that. he's my childhood friend. someone I can't be mad at. someone that is like family. " said Jane.

" I can see that." you won't be seeing me for the time being. I have a very important private patient in the ward. said, Thea

" Doctors are always busy. I know I get it. good luck" said Jane

Nina has been at Arthur's for some time now. his friend Jason came for a visit.

" Hello, beautiful," said Jason

Nina who was surprised to see a visitor stood up

" hello. who are you?? are you his brother? asked Nina?

" I wish but no. Is Arthur in?

" No. should I call him? asked Nina

"No. he knows I'm here. "

"Okay. have a seat," she said

minutes later

Arthur walks in and met Jason and Nina in the living room

"let's talk please said Nina as she drags him to the study

" who is he? asked Nina

" are you alright? asked Arthur who couldn't understand why she was asking him such a lame question

" who is he?

" A Friend of mine. what's the matter you don't like him? asked Arthur

" And you didn't tell me he was coming?? just look at what I'm wearing? he might think the worst of me "

" well. I'm sorry about that. I told you to stop dressing like that. anyway, he'll be staying for some time. I advise you to get along with him. " he said plainly

" then I've to go home. I hope he enjoys his stay. she said

" what! how can you disapprove of someone you don't even know. Jason is a wonderful person. you should be close to him if you want to remain my girlfriend"

" is that a threat ? are you seriously giving me conditions?

" no. I'm giving you some advice. I'm tired, Nina. I need some rest. can we talk about this later? asked Arthur

Nina was dumbfounded. she thought she has gotten to him but how could he choose his friend over her thereby misunderstanding his words . he meant to say she should be friendly towards Jason because he's the only one that knows him so well.

" I can't believe this. I'm leaving

" suit yourself. you just ruined my mood. said, Arthur

Nina noticed he was upset and quickly changed her statement

" Thea called, I haven't seen her for some time now. I'll call you later," said Nina

" Don't bother. my aunt is sick. I'll be visiting her by then"

" your aunt? that's bad. call me when you're done then. okay, babe love you " she kisses him then leaves.

" bro. she's cute. fine . " said Jason

" you're here for a case, right? asked Arthur

" not really. aren't you bored? I hate living alone. my girlfriend traveled. she won't be coming over for a long time" smirked Jason

" God. that's long. aunt Margaret is sick. I'll see you later

" no. I'm going to enjoy my loneliness at the club. see you later"

" don't bring b*** hes to my house please," said Arthur who didn't like the idea of him saying so.

" okay. say hi to Marg for me "

" you should change at least," said Arthur who was worried about him

" tag along if you're scared I might screw up," said Jason

" don't ruin my peaceful, quiet life please," said Arthur

" never. c'mon man. it's just a club. nothing more. besides, you don't seem to be in a good mood either. smirked Jason

" let me freshen up ok. "

They changed and drove to the nearest clubhouse, on getting there they both were shocked

"Artie, isn't that your babe? is she a stripper? asked a curious Jason

Although Arthur was surprised to see her dancing in a club almost stripping. he thought it was because of what happened in the house and ignored it.

'" it's not her. they look alike. my girlfriend isn't a stripper but a personnel Manager . he corrected him.

" It sure looks like her. maybe I should say hello to find out" he replied.

" no need. "

" okay. let's have fun ".
