Chapter 5 Philips visit

" Jane, Charlotte deceived me. I swear I never wanted to hurt you because I love you. I regret what I did five years ago. I'll return the mall to you. I hope by then you'll take me back" said Roland bringing her back from her thoughts.

She sighs " we shall see about that. are you leaving today? asked Jane.

Although she was angry then she has forgotten how much hatred she felt then but not anymore. he's history to her .so it doesn't affect her anymore

" not really. can I stay for some time? he asked.

" no problem".said Jane

"thank you. I owe you one" said Roland she didn't mind him living with her because she's not smitten by him anymore.

"yes you do," said Jane

" I hope in the future I won't disappoint you anymore," said Roland hoping to be forgiven by her and given a second chance.

" I hope so. our friendship has been from childhood and I thought we were meant to live together as married couples. "

" I'm sorry I failed you. I promise we will"

" I guess this is our fate. how is my family? asked a curious Jane.

It's been five years and she hasn't heard from her family since the incident with Charlotte

" they're fine and of course they miss you. come back home Jane" said a concerned Roland.

Silent for a while Jane thought of her family and smiled but Charlotte was there so the smile faded.

" no, I can't. not until I get what I want. To succeed on my own" said Jane.

" But you have done enough already and you're successful. your parents are wealthy. everything they have is yours " said Roland who couldn't understand why she was reluctant to return home to her family after so many years. he felt aggrieved.

" they're not mine until my parents pass on. I want to stand on my own" replied Jane in a commanding tone.

" if you say so but at least visit them," said Roland letting go of the idea as she finds it upsetting not wanting to open a closed wound

" I'll try to do that," said Jane

At the Salvatore's.

Arthur is sitting in the living room reading a newspaper with white shorts and a yellow polo shirt when Philip walks to him.

" How is your paperwork coming up," asked Phil. trying to start a conversation as he knew that Arthur always ignore him anytime he comes home.

" what are you talking about?? asked Arthur surprised at his unrealistic question

" Mom told me you were into some paperwork" answered Phil

" mom! oh, you mean my mother or your mother?? He asked sarcastically.

" your mother," said Phil not surprised at his sarcasm

" don't ever make that mistake again. my mom isn't your mother and I'm not into any paperwork" he answered as if intimidated.

" okay. let's be friends Arthur. this bickering between us is not right" said Phil who wants to be his friend despite his attitude towards him.

" bickering? are we kids? fine then stop annoying me instead impress me," said an annoyed Arthur, who can't stand the sight of him as he irritates him.

" you know I have your best interest at heart," phil says hopeful.
