Chapter 4 At Jane's

she walked in after a long day at work and saw her childhood friend in her house.

' what's this about Roland?

" I wanted to apologize for ditching our date back in Canada" Although she was surprised he followed her from Canada to UK. she didn't show it.

" Roland, do you think I'm a fool? I entrusted my mall to you and you told Charlotte about it. not only did you sell my property. You dated Charlotte knowing she was my friend because you thought I'm a spoilt, overpampered wench. Take a close look at me. I'm not naive anymore. so there's no way I'm forgiven you. if that's what you're here for then you must be mistaken."

finding out that her best friend was sleeping with her childhood sweetheart Jane Anderson Miles

confronted her friend Charlotte Davies. she recalled what she told her as an excuse for dating her man behind her back.

" Why did you do it?? she asked

" Do what?? took something from you? c'mon you have plenty. you're a spoilt daddy's girl " Said Charlotte her best friend with no ounce of remorse.

" How long have you been together?? how long have you thought of me that way? how did you sell my mall?? how! how? was the only thing she could say because she was dumbfounded.

"Longer than you think. I wanted to prove to you that not everyone loves you. Do you know how much you disgust me? Making me feel inferior to you? even my parents compare me to you. Gosh Jane you have everything, the best boyfriend, best parents, best job what do I have?? I just took a little love from you and a little mall. What's the matter? you can't share?? she retorted

Jane was surprised as her words were like a sword piercing through her heart. There was never a day she imagined Charlotte talking to her like this. she had always shared things with her. encouraged her and she thought they were best friends. how could she do this to her?

" what's the matter, Jane? you were always so naive. can't take a little heartbreak? crying already? such a shame. you're nothing without your parents. they're the pillar behind you" said Charlotte defensively.

Jane was still crying when her mother Daisy came in.

" what's the matter, dear? why Are you crying? Charlotte what did you do to her?

" she sold my exclusive mall" sniffles Jane then continued "And she has been sleeping with Roland my boyfriend for God knows when and she's not sorry because she thinks I'm a spoilt dependent and naive wench who deserves it" she chuckled

" I'm not complaining mom, I don't blame her, I blame myself for being such a fool. I shouldn't have come here. I shouldn't"

She left crying as no one has ever spoken to her like that before. she thought maybe Charlotte was right maybe everything she had had always come easy because her parents spoiled her. she decided to go far away to find herself again maybe this time life will let her prove to Charlotte and herself that she achieved everything by herself.

That was how she left Canada and moved to the UK to do things her way. luckily for her, she met her friends Thea and Nina and they became close. now she's working in a software company as an artist and marketer

so far she has a house of her own which she receives rent and she is contented with her recent life. now Roland shows up reminding her of something she has worked so hard to forget.
