Chapter 4 That Was Interesting

He slapped her so hard that Joanna could not stay balance and fell on the ground. She had a blackout for a while. Her face was burning out of pain and her mouth was bleeding,

"Owen? ..."

She gnashed and could not believe what happened.

It was true that she was released from prison until yesterday. However, it was Owen who ordered his follower to drive her to the hotel directly. And it was Owen who covered the ground with roses, lighted the room with candles, and went down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

She had believed that there was someone in the world waiting for her and giving her a new way of life and that her terrible past was just history. But she did not expect that she would fall into the trap of others again and became a ridiculous pawn!

She was still too naïve.

Owen raised his hand and put his tie in the right place. Again, he was a gentleman as usual. Yet he disdainfully looked at Joanna.

"Joanna, you don't know what happened outside because you were in prison these years. Let me tell you. The Howards Group is in the ascendant. Besides City S, it owns business all over the Country S as well as in the whole world. Then look at you, a woman released from prison! The Browns have declared that they have no relations with you. And now you have neither family to support you nor the ability to support yourself. If it weren't me who gave you a chance because of our relationship, you would end in the gutter and even have no food or clothes."

He peeped at her with coldness and pitilessness in his eyes. "So, you'd better follow my order. And I can let you stay by my side as a secret lover for our relationship's sake. Or I am sure you are clear about your result."

As he was talking, a warning and coldness emerged in his eyes which disappeared quickly.

"You are threatening me?" Joanna stood up with all her strength. She clenched her fists tightly and the pain reminded her that what happened now was true.

Owen was not what he used to be. He had changed.

And she was not Joanna three years ago.

"You want me to do what?" she squinted, "Do you mean that I should be your lover while seducing your uncle and defame him, or steal something you need from him? Then you will be the only person who gets the whole property of the Howards?"

A smile of appreciation and coldness appeared in Owen's face, which meant he agreed with her words.

He did plan as so.

"Stop daydreaming!"

Joanna put on a serious expression, "Owen, it was my fault not realizing that you are such a mercenary and despicable villain. You know what? I feel ashamed for you! Let me tell you, even I am starved to death and end my life in the gutter, I won't cooperate with a man like you without principles. Damn you! You will never have a chance to make me hurt others anymore!"

"Joanna! Did you know what you are saying?"

Owen was infuriated and his expression turned to be horrible.

How dare Joanna say all this to him!

"I am in such a condition now. if I am still muddled, then no one could save me."

Joanna glared at the man in front of her and said with a resolution, "Owen, that's an end between us."

And she turned around to walk towards the outside after finishing her words.

When she arrived at the door and opened it, she paused as if she remembered something.

Seeing that she didn't leave immediately, Owen sneered, "What? Do you regret..."?

Before he finished his words, Joanna took off the ring and threw it at his face with strength.

"It is you who should regret! Bastard!"

Joanna cursed loudly, turned around to leave the room, and walked directly towards the elevator without giving a glance at Owen's reaction.

And in the exit near the elevator, a slender and tall figure leaned against the wall while putting on sunglasses and smiling, "That's interesting."
