Chapter 5 A whole lot of mess

His Revenge

By Vicky Amy

Chapter 5

California.

10:45 pm.

In the dark hour, when all lights in the neighborhood were out. Light emitted from a tiny window, indicating people were still awake.

"Has she called yet?" Mr. Derrick asked the caller for the one-thousandth time that day as he hurriedly gulped down his coffee in the mug.

"No, I've checked her friend's place and contacted the cops but we have no trace of her."

"God damn it!" He cursed as he hit his fist on the counter.

"Where could she have gone to?" He questioned no one.

"I once suggested putting guards there, but you said she had your mother and now she's gone without any notice," Barbara cried.

Instead, Mr. Rossi paced around the well-lit living room, trying to mark out his next step.

He'd ordered a search team in the countryside. Put up posters of rewards if she was found. Contacted the town's cops.

"She couldn't have gone far, she knows nowhere," He kept on muttering to himself.

"Sir, you have a call," a guard said.

"I said no calls. I'm busy!" Mr. Derrick retorted.

"But it's a private number."

It was nearly midnight and a call from a private number.

"Put it on loudspeaker," he said gesturing for one of the guards to come over.

The call was answered and the other side was silent for a while as they waited patiently for the caller to speak up.

"This is Mr. Rossi speaking from the Rossi residence," The caller finally said.

Mr. Derrick's eye widened as he grabbed the phone from the guard and stood up, "Rossi."

Mr. Rossi's voice was as calm as ever, as if nothing happened, "I heard the news that your daughter is missing."

"Where's my daughter?" Mr. Derrick asked, as his pacing increased.

"In good hands."

"You are going too far, Rossi."

"That's Mr. Rossi to you. But don't you worry. I wouldn't harm your little girl physically but other ways wouldn't be promising."

"What other ways?"

"Let's leave that aside for the moment. I am inviting you and your family for a dinner, tomorrow."

"Where have you kept my daughter?!"

"You know what I can do, Mr. Derrick. And I'd do about anything to get what I want."

"You want money, I'd give you a huge amount," Mr. Derrick said as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"That was years ago. And now I want something else."

"What do you want, Mr. Rossi?" Mr. Derrick finally asked.

"You'll have to find it out yourself, good night to you." Mr. Rossi said and then hung up.

"He is with my daughter, right?" Barbara asked as she tugged his shirt.

"Boys, get ready, we're going to New York." Mr. Derrick said as he sat on his sofa, totally ignoring the distressed woman that lay on the carpeted floor.

"Oh my goodness!" Barbara exclaimed.

"We're getting our daughter, alright. I just hope she doesn't know anything yet."

"I'll call Kevin right away," Barbara said as she placed her hand over her mouth to prevent herself from crying.

"Tell him to come home as soon as possible, or rather head to New York," Mr. Rossi said as he picked a cigar.

"I wonder how my baby is doing right now!"

New York.

Rossi Residence.

"So she's the daughter of that man?" Bianca asked as she folded her arms under her breast.

"Bianca, we'd talk about this tomorrow," Mr. Rossi said as he opened the door of his room.

"Stefano-"

"Bed, Bianca."

"Can please just see her?"

"No, and no more excuses," he said before he slammed the door behind him.

He cocked a grin as he recalled what happened earlier that day.

Everything was going as planned and nothing can stop him from achieving his goal.

Skylar, the poor girl was put in a room, more like a cellar. She couldn't remember how or when she got in here.

For sure, she was drugged somehow.

After hours of hitting the huge iron gate and yelling and crying for help, her stomach rumbled violently and she hugged her knees to her chest, laying on the cold floor.

Everything was going to be okay.

Her father wouldn't easily back down. Because that man kept on saying rubbish to her.

"It must have been one of dad's competitors who want to blackmail his son," she thought to herself.

The cellar door bolted open and she spoke up, looking keenly into the darkness.

The heavy stomping of feet was heard and one of the huge guards came into view. He had a low cut for the hair and a scar on one of his eyes.

"Here, eat that."

A portion of food was placed in front of her. She cringed her face as she stared at the plate of corn smeared in butter and mushrooms beside it with a bottle of water.

For all she knew, it could be poisoned. But it was worth risking it than starving for the whole day.

The moment the guard slammed the door behind him and bolted the door, she grabbed the plate and began chowing down the entire food.

She drank a little liquid before she laid down again. Tomorrow is another day after all.

The next day,

Skylar was roused by the noisy opening of the cellar gate. Rubbing her eyes that ached from all yesterday's crying, she yawned and then stretched out her limbs.

"Sleeping beauty's finally up!" One of the guards roared and the others chuckled.

She gave them a dull expression as she slowly stood up. Her back ached a lot and so did her neck.

"If you need a toilet, there's one down the hall. Wear this and don't take time in there!"

She glared at them as she snatched the stupid dress from him and walked towards the gate.

The guards didn't stop trailing behind her till she got to the bathroom.

She looked around the bathroom, it was so dirty and reeked of dead rats. The floors were even sticky and disgusting. How the hell would she even take a bath in here?!

She shrugged and then slipped out of her previous clothes and put on the blue dress given to her and splashed some water on her face.

She stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her long brown hair was looking unkempt and her lips dry.

If there was anything she cared at all for in her body was her brown hair and blue eyes.

A loud bang was heard on the door and she jerked and then placed her hand on her chest.

On getting out, she gave the guards a good stare and they stared back.

Skylar walked behind one of the guards who took the lead and the others walked behind her.

The doors they passed all looked the same but had tags that differentiated each of them from one another.

They walked into a hall and Skylar looked around her. It was elegant and was high-class people shit.

She glanced at the staircase that was carpeted with a fancy red rug. The last person she wanted to see was there, calmly pressing his phone like she was invincible or something.

She couldn't just wait for her father to come so that they could straighten things out between themselves and she'd get the hell out of here...maybe even the city.

That's when it hit her. Her pieces of stuff were gone...probably. Everything in her darn bag.

"So you're the girl, huh?!" A young lady asked.

Skylar looked at her. She had elegant curls at the end of her jet black hair. Her pale skin tone was the same as Mr. Rossi and she was the same height as her.

"Pathetic," She said as she took a swing of the purple liquid in her glass cup.

Skylar held herself from lashing out in the spoilt brat in front of her.

"By the way, I love your eyes," she whispered to Skylar which made Skylar raise a brow at her.

"OMG, a thank you would do," she blurted out, "Country people and their shits."

If anyone was annoying other than Mr. Rossi it would be this girl here. Here she is, been abducted and this shit!

The doors slowly opened and two guards walked in, straight towards Mr. Rossi who smirked.

At that moment, her mother and father walked in. Her father was dressed in a blue traveling suit he usually wore whenever he visited. And her mother was dressed in one of those Sassy Jen's red carpet outfits.

"Breath, breath," she told herself as she beamed for joy.

She wasn't the less worried if she was going to be scolded, after going home. Anything was better than being held in here like a prisoner.

"Ahh, Mr. Smith," Mr. Rossi said as he briskly walked down the stairs towards her parents.

Her eyes met her father's, whose expression wasn't very promising.

Skylar walked up to her mother, who embraced her in a tight hug, "Oh my baby!" She whisper-cried.

Mr. Rossi gave them a smug look and slipped his hands into his pockets.

As everywhere was silent, been a cry baby, Skylar saw it as a cue to strike. After all her dad was also powerful and for sure, she was going to be free from here.

"Dad, he's making me marry him!"

"I approve of the marriage," Mr. Derrick said to Skylar who had a horrified look.

The person she'd put her hope it was the one saying this.

"Dad?" Her voice shook as she rubbed her cold arm.

"Yes, Skylar."

"Why?"

Her father looked at Mr. Rossi who still had his smug look on.

"Mom, Dad's insane, you don't expect me to marry someone I don't know, he's trying to frame Kevin! Mom?!" She sniffed as she tugged her mother's arm.

Her mother bit her lower lip to prevent herself from crying. She placed her hand on Skylar's arm and nodded.

Her world was crashing right in front of her and nothing could be done to save it.

Looking at her right, she saw the charming but devious smirk on Mr. Rossi's face.
