Chapter 5 The interview.

Hazel was busy in making her report again. First she read her previous report and the markings done by Rowen. She didn't understand most of the things written by him.

So she referred some other books from her father's room to know about the things written by him. To her disbelief, some of the points are in the books but still some has no evidence. She read the new points and prepared a note on them. Though she searched other books, she didn't understand few points mentioned by him.

She busied herself in making the report by adding the new points which she got in the new books. When it was 10 pm, the door bell rang. She opened the door to see her father. They had their dinner. Then her father asked about her preparation for her tomorrow's interview.

The interview to hire interns in the laboratory is on tomorrow morning. Then she said about the report status. She also explained about the incident in which the report was spoiled. Her father was shocked to hear everything. He offered his help in making the report again.

But she didn't agree as she wants to acquire job on her own efforts. Her father knows that no one can change her decision if she is determined. So her father didn't say anything further. She clarified some of her doubts on the facts marked by Rowen from her father.

Even after discussing with her father, who is a famous scientist dealing with different species, their genetic compositions and other details, they found that some principles in genetic engineering mentioned by Rowen are reasonable but many of them mentioned in any of the books. Most of the principles are heard for the first time. They looked like the discoveries made by Rowen in this field. They found them interesting but decided to discuss about them later as the time to prepare the report is very less.

Her father left for his room, while Hazel stayed in the study. She made a report by staying overnight. It was 4 am when she slept. Her father woke her up and wished her good luck for the interview and left for laboratory.

She tidied herself and revised the report prepared and kept it on her study. She had her breakfast and checked the time. It was half past 9 am. She took her report from study in a hurry and went to the laboratory for interview in a hurry.

In the laboratory, when she was called inside, the officials asked few questions and asked her to hand over the report prepared by her. She gave the report to them.

After opening the report, they glared at her with an angry look and said, "Is this your interest in achieving the job. Don't force yourself to work here. We are looking for the people who keep their heart and soul on research but not like you."

She was shocked to listen those words as the report made by her is quite impressive in her view.

When they showed her the report, she apologised them and came out of the room with teary eyes as they asked her to leave without giving a chance to explain.

She blamed herself for being careless. It was the report which was spoiled by Kensing.The report which she made by staying overnight was in her study itself. In the hurry, she picked the wrong one.

When she was about to leave to her house after rejection, her phone rang. It was her father. She explained everything to her father by sobbing in between. Her father is one of the scientists of the same laboratory.

So he came to her and consoled her. Suddenly, he remembered something and said, "Hazel, once you meet that man, who marked on your report, know about the facts written in it which we are unsure about. If there is any other choice of joining here, I will inform you. Don't loose your confidence. Go home and rest."

After staying quiet for a while, he said, "Can I ask the interviewers to give an another opportunity to you. You can bring your report and submit it. I am sure they will appoint you. You are worth it." But Hazel said, "No dad. Don't do that. I will try again later. Don't worry about me. I will be fine." By saying that, she left the laboratory.

Instead of going home, she went to an orphanage and spent time with the children there. She is very close to the children and they treat her as their close sister. It is the place which she visits in her extreme joy and grief. She relaxed herself by playing and spending time with the children and left for her home.

As she will always stay alone at her home, when her father is busy in his research in the laboratory, she made a habit of visiting the orphanage and spending her time with the children there. She can have company of someone in that orphanage instead of being alone at home. So they became quiet close. It became a place where she can find relaxation and happiness.
