Chapter 8 Suspicion

"I was wondering who you are. So, you're the useless son-in-law of the Tang family, huh?" The bald man burst into laughter.

Then, his gaze shifted to Nancy.

"You have offended our young master for this loser. How could you be so ignorant, girl?"

The bald man didn't know Nancy. However, Gerald had instructed him not to be rude to her in any way before sending him to assault Murray.

The bald man winked at his men.

Two of them stepped forward and walked toward her.

Nancy's body stiffened. Although she tried to be strong, she was still a young girl. Fear consumed her-she was frightened to see the burly men waiting to take her away.

"Sean, think of a way to escape. Hurry up!" Nancy nudged Murray's arm nervously.

However, he remained calm. He smiled at the men with his arms over his chest.

His attitude irked Nancy.

The bald man frowned. He didn't expect such a reaction from Murray.

'He doesn't look like a loser from any angle, ' thought the bald man.

"Are you sure you want to fight me?" Murray asked as two men walked toward him.

The men stopped in their tracks and glanced at each other.

The bald man knitted his brows and sized Murray up. "What? Do you think we can't fight you? It doesn't matter if you are the son-in-law of the Tang family. I am not afraid of you. Have you forgotten that you've offended Mr. Lin? Even if Ms. Janice Tang were here, we wouldn't have let her go unless she gave us an explanation," the bald man answered confidently.

Murray understood that the people wouldn't leave him unless he accounted for his actions.

"Well, you want an explanation? I'll explain everything clearly. One moment please." Murray quickly pulled out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

The men exchanged glances again, for Murray's every move seemed to surprise them.

They wondered if their opponent had powerful connections that they weren't aware of.

Nancy was equally confused. Murray's confidence and courage surprised her. She had never seen him like this before.

Her brother-in-law had always run away from a fight, but this time he was facing all his opponents like a warrior.

The phone connected after a few rings. "Felix," said Murray.

"B...Boss?" stammered a surprised voice.

"Yes. It's me. You are in H City, aren't you? Ask some of our friends to come to the Platinum Palace. A few people here claim that they are from the Heaven Aqua. They apparently want an explanation from me."

"What? Don't worry, boss. My men will be there soon."

The goons panicked as soon as Murray hung up the phone.

They felt that the man in front of them indeed had powerful people to support him. That was why he remained calm despite their threats.

Nancy's eyes widened in shock.

'Has Sean changed?' she thought surprisingly.

However, before she could fully enjoy the moment, a strong hand grabbed her wrist and dragged her away.

Nancy looked up and saw her brother-in-law.

She didn't understand what was going on, neither did the people who had come to attack them.

A couple of minutes later, the bald man snapped out of his trance.

"Damn it!" He stomped his foot angrily.

"He tricked us. Chase him!"

Nancy and Murray soon arrived at the first floor. Murray pushed her into a private room and began gasping for breath.

"Sean, why...why did you run away? What are we doing here?"

"Nancy, they outnumbered us. I can't defeat them all."

Nancy was at a loss for words when she saw the frightened look on Murray's face.

"But... didn't you call someone for help?"

She had admired his courage a while ago. But the man was back to his old self now.

"Call someone? No, I just deceived them!" Murray grinned.

"You deceived them?" Nancy's jaw dropped-she couldn't process his words.

"Yes. I had no choice." Murray shrugged nonchalantly.

Nancy eyed the man with suspicion as a thought flashed in her mind.

'Sean is acting strange today.

He has not only challenged Gerald, but also deceived the people from the Heaven Aqua, ' she thought.

The sudden change in his behavior only seemed to increase her suspicions.

An idea popped in Nancy's mind. She quickly grabbed Murray's arm and cried, "I'm afraid, Sean. What if they catch up with us?"

Nancy leaned closer to him, feigning panic and fear.

For a moment, Murray thought that he had misheard her.

However, when he turned around, Nancy's big, innocent eyes caught his attention. He could see the tears gradually well up. She put her arm on his shoulder and inched closer to him.

Murray wondered if the girl was scared.

It was indeed a good time for her to be afraid when they were alone.

"Don't worry. I'm here with you." Murray patted Nancy's back, feeling pleased.

'Everything is happening so fast. Am I going to have both the two sisters soon?' Murray thought.

Nancy's jaw tightened as she felt Murray's hand stroking her back.

'Sean has become bolder. How dare he covet his sister-in-law!' she wondered in her heart.

"Sean, who do you think is more beautiful? My sister or me?" Nancy asked sweetly.

Murray frowned as he sensed something fishy.

Nancy wasn't like this before. Moreover, the question seemed inappropriate during the current situation.

But he decided to answer her anyway. "You both are equally beautiful."

Nancy cast a knowing look at him. She had expected such an answer from him.

"But didn't you say that my sister is the most beautiful woman in the world before?"

Murray blinked.

'Before?

I have no clue what Sean told her before!'

"Nancy, it was in the past. I feel that both of you are beautiful now."

"Really?" Nancy cocked her head.

Murray nodded. Just as he was about to emphasize his answer, Nancy spoke again, "Did you cheat on my sister?"

Nancy couldn't help but think, 'Sean lived in fear before. He looked like he would die any moment. But this man has become a totally different person-he is full of life and energy.'

Murray was speechless. He couldn't understand where this was going.

"Are you kidding me?"

Seeing the girl's reaction, he finally understood that she was testing him.

"Do you have any ulterior motive? Tell me!" Nancy asked.

The woman was overanalyzing the situation.

Murray was stunned for a moment. However, the way her brain worked amused him. He chuckled and stepped closer to her.

"Nancy, do you really want to know?"

Seeing her sullen face, Murray had the urge to tease her.

"Well, I never gave much thought to it before, but suddenly, I came to realize that we only live once. I don't want to waste my time in vain. So... well... My wife is beautiful. But I think I should start seeing more beautiful women like you."

That was what Murray felt anyway.

However, his every word irked Nancy.

"See other women? You... If you even think of hurting my sister, I swear, I will turn your life to hell."

She was seething with anger.

'Sean has always been a coward who ran away from his life and the truth. I didn't think that he would have such ideas in mind, ' Nancy thought.

Murray looked at her with an evil grin.

Nancy gulped. Although she claimed to be fearless, the intensity of his gaze frightened her.

"What? What are you going to do? I'm not eighteen yet, so stop having such ideas!"
