Chapter 10 Distress

"Well, I don't mind kneeling in front of you, Mom. But it feels as if I'm visiting a grave. If that doesn't bother you, I'll do as you say." Murray shrugged nonchalantly and leaned against the sofa.

"What do you mean?" Ingrid's face darkened.

'How could he say that? Is he cursing me to die soon?'

Janice frowned, but her body seemed to visibly relax.

"Well, doesn't kneeling in front of someone remind you of visiting a grave to honor the dead? You are still young, and you ought to live for many more years. I think it's better if I sit and talk to you. Otherwise, it feels like a bad omen. What do you think?"

Murray smiled sweetly.

He always respected the people who treated him right.

But his mother-in-law didn't deserve his respect.

Janice bit her lip and looked at Murray with wide eyes.

She felt that Sean had changed after the accident. Perhaps crashing into the sea had affected his brain and transformed his personality altogether.

"I didn't expect you to be eloquent. You have become quite smart!"

Ingrid was fuming with rage.

"I'm flattered," Murray smiled.

"Shame on you! If you have a bit of sense in that stupid brain of yours, better divorce Janice as soon as possible. Don't drag her down along with you. Our Tang family..."

"Enough!" Janice interrupted before her mother could complete her sentence.

"That's enough, Mom. It's none of your business. Sean and I will solve the problem between the two of us. You stay out of this!"

"It's none of my business?" Ingrid sprang to her feet angrily, her face distorted with anger.

"Okay, it's none of my business. I won't interfere! But let me remind you something. We are having a general body meeting with the shareholders of the Tang Group on the day after tomorrow. I'm sure you know how important this meeting is.

I want you to acquire the project of the Song family before that. You should be the successor of the Tang Group!"

Janice scowled at Ingrid.

She still couldn't figure out why her mother wanted her to be the successor of the Tang Group.

Even though her grandfather adored her, he wasn't the only one who had the final say in choosing the successor of the Tang Group. Others had to agree to his decision.

"I will strive for the position of the successor, but I want you to remember that I am doing this only for the Tang Group and for Grandpa!" Janice said firmly.

The Tang Group was the fruit of her grandfather's painstaking efforts. She agreed to take over the business only to improve the efficiency of the company and expand its operations.

"Besides, no one has the right to interfere between me and Sean regardless of whether I take over the Tang Group or not!"

Her grandfather's persuasion and threat were the major reasons why Janice married Sean. However, she too believed that marriage would be a shield that would protect her in the business world.

She had compromised once, but that didn't mean she would compromise again.

"You..." Ingrid glared at Janice. "You will regret it later."

"Mom, don't worry. I will treat Janice so well that she will have no regrets." Murray chuckled and pulled Janice into his arms.

"Janice and I need to develop our relationship. How about you please..." Murray stretched out his arm and pointed at the door, gesturing for his mother-in-law to leave.

Ingrid gritted her teeth as anger coursed through her veins. "How dare you, Sean?!"

She grabbed her bag and left in a huff.

Janice tried withdrawing her hand as soon as Ingrid was out of her sight.

"Let me go."

"No." Murray pulled her closer.

He felt that he wanted to hold her hands forever.

Murray had been to H City in the past, but he had never met Janice before. Everything would have been different if he did. The woman would never have married Sean.

Hearing the muffled noise, Ingrid turned around and looked at the couple. Bile rose in her throat when she saw the two hug and flirt.

She felt that all her plans would be in vain if they consummated their wedding like normal couples.

"You, bitch!" Ingrid stomped her foot angrily and left.

Murray's eyes narrowed when he saw the woman walk out of the door.

Janice didn't hear Ingrid's words.

However, due to his good listening ability, Murray had heard what she said.

He couldn't help but wonder if Ingrid was Janice's biological mother.

"Sean, let go of me!" Janice slapped his chest in annoyance.

Murray finally let go of her hand and smiled.

"Honey, what do you think of my performance?"

Janice rolled her eyes. "You have offended your mother-in-law. What's so great about that?" She stood up and looked across the room.

"Clean the house. I don't want to see any dust." With that, Janice walked out of the house.

She had abandoned her work and rushed home after receiving her mother's call. Therefore, Janice had to go back to the company and finish all her tasks before calling it a day.

For a moment, she almost believed that her mother was here because she cared about her but didn't think that she would ask her to divorce Sean.

After seeing Janice off, Murray slumped on the sofa and had a hearty laugh.

He liked his new life-it was more interesting and worthwhile than his previous life that involved fighting and killing.

The man hummed happily, feeling content for the first time in many years. However, he soon remembered what Janice asked him to do before leaving and dialed a number.

Fifteen minutes later, a limited edition Maybach stopped outside the villa.

Murray strutted out in flip-flops.

A handsome young man walked out of the car.

He was wearing a customized Givenchy suit and a sparkling Vacheron-Constantin watch. The limited-edition Prada shoes completed his look. The price of everything he wore today, put together, was the monthly income of most people in the city.

The young man exuded a majestic aura that made him look like royalty.

Behind the young man stood another vehicle with the words "Royal Service Team" printed in bold letters.

Anyone who had ever attended an important political meeting knew what the words meant.

The Royal Service Team usually provided service in places where national leaders received foreign guests or held meetings. They had a strict policy of only attending to the needs of important people on their list. The team didn't work for common people regardless of how much they paid.

The young man saw Murray lazily walk out of the house in a casual T-shirt, beach pants, and flip-flops.

After a moment's hesitation, the man ran up to him. "B...Boss?"

The young man was a little confused. He wondered if he had arrived at the wrong venue.

"Yeah." Leaning against the door frame, Murray nodded absentmindedly.

The young man was Felix Lu, one of the main members of the Dragon Flame. Murray had called him when he was at the Platinum Palace.

"God, it's really you! I'm glad that you are fine."

Seeing Murray's shrewd eyes, Felix was sure that the man in front of him was his boss.

He was surprised to receive the phone call, for he didn't think that his boss was alive.

Felix had sent all their men to look for Murray after he went missing on the beach. They had searched for him in every corner but couldn't find him anywhere. Therefore, the members of the organization concluded that Murray had died.

It had only been a few days since Murray went missing, but Felix felt that the man had transformed into a completely different person.

He felt that his boss was distressed.
