Chapter 4 Visit From Father And Daughter

"Boss, I've found out that it was Mr. Shao who got you drugged. Later, the raid on the club was also a plan of Mr. Shao. He had arranged many reporters to wait at the exit of the top floor. Fortunately, you didn't go to the suite on the top floor."

At the CEO's office of the HP Group, on the top floor of the towering office building, Kaiser's assistant gave him a full report of the investigation.

Last night, Kaiser was drugged at a meeting in the night club, but fortunately, he was able to ask someone to reserve an ordinary room for him when he sensed that something was wrong.

"Really?" Kaiser, who was looking down at the document, sneered and ordered without raising his head, "Then give the one a dose of his own medicine. Let Mr. Shao's deeds get exposed and make him enjoy the feeling of being imprisoned."

"Yes, boss."

"Are you sure that the name of woman who came into my room is Anne Xia?"

"Well..." The assistant looked at Kaiser with some hesitation and then he added, "For some reason the monitoring equipment in the club was malfunctioning last night, so I wasn't able to get a clear picture of the person."

What a coincidence!

Kaiser frowned as he fell into a pensive mood.

"Rat-a-tat!" "Sir, the chairman of the Xia Group, Mr. Benson Xia and his daughter Anne Xia are waiting in the lobby. They are here to see you." The secretary stood outside the door and knocked.

'Anne Xia?'

Kaiser raised his head, eyes narrowing with suspicion and said, "Let them in."

"Yes, sir."

"You can leave now. Forget about the woman who was in my room, I want you to find out everything you can about Anne Xia first." Kaiser gave his assistant another task right after the secretary left.

"Yes, boss." The assistant nodded respectfully and then walked out of the office.

Soon after, Benson and Anne were brought to the door of Kaiser's office by the secretary and she knocked at the door again. "Sir, your guests are here."

Anne looked over the secretary's shoulder and saw a man sitting behind a large oaken table with his face down. In an instant, she felt attracted to him.

Kaiser, the most enigmatic successor to the biggest business empire in the city, who always kept a low-profile in public, was desired by every woman.

After he put down the documents on the table, Kaiser raised his head towards the direction of the door.

When he noticed a string of shining Buddhist prayer beads on Anne's wrist, his mind went blank for a second and soon anger filled his deep-set eyes.

Thirteen years ago, his grandma put the same string of beads in his hand before she passed away. How could he not recognize it?

Why was it on Anne's wrist?

"Come in." Kaiser stood up from the chair after a flash of confusion in his eyes.

With his permission, the secretary immediately gestured at Benson and Annie to take a seat.

After Benson introduced himself, the praises for Kaiser followed.

"Mr. Kaiser?" Anne, who was sitting next to her father, looked at Kaiser shyly.

With a nonchalant expression on his face, Kaiser stood with both hands inside his pockets, glancing first at Benson and then at Anne. He raised an eyebrow at Anne and said, "Have you made up your mind yet?"

"Mr. Kaiser, it was a great fortune that brought you and Anne together!" Benson spoke and giggled before Anne could say anything.

Anne bit her lip, hesitating to speak her mind at first and then said, "Mr. Kaiser, I haven't forgotten about you since I met you at the HP Group's 50th anniversary celebration two years ago."

"Oh, so what?" Kaiser looked at her and chuckled.

"Mr. Kaiser, you see, Anne is just an innocent girl, and as far as I know, you're still single..."

"Dad!" Before Benson could finish his words, Anne stopped him immediately. As her cheeks blushed red, she said, "Mr. Kaiser, I'm just here to tell you that I was honored to be with you last night. So, there's no need for you to worry about any compensation."

After Kaiser left the club last night, she immediately bribed one of the staff members to check the surveillance footage.

Indeed, Sherry was in the corridor holding a bag in her hand, but she accidentally knocked on the wrong door and ended up sleeping with Kaiser.

Although Sherry was very fortunate, Anne couldn't let her take Kaiser away from her.

"Anne, that's your virginity. You have to..."

"Dad!" Anne cast him an angry glare, gesturing at him with her eyes to keep quiet.

Kaiser watched the father and daughter with amusement as he shook his head and laughed. When he raised his head and looked at them, there was a meaningful look on his face. He scoffed contemptuously and said, "That's all? Is there anything else you'd like to say?"

"No, that's all!" Anne smiled and nodded firmly.

"Please, see the guests out," Kaiser said to his secretary, as he turned around and went back to his seat. He didn't even look at them a second time as he picked up some papers from the table and carried on reading.

"Mr. Xia, Ms. Xia, this way please!" The secretary came over and politely showed them the way out.

Glaring at Anne in anger, Benson wondered what was wrong with her. However, he held back his anger and smiled at Kaiser. "Mr. Kaiser, since my daughter seems to have a mind of her own, I won't interfere anymore. Goodbye."

Kaiser focused his attention on the documents in his hand without even raising his eyelids.

Anne pouted her lips at him in anger before she turned on her heel and walked out reluctantly.

Benson no longer had a reason to stay, so he followed his daughter.

"Ms. Xia."

Just as the two of them had reached the door, Kaiser's voice stopped them.

Suddenly, Anne's eyes widened in surprise, but she managed to keep calm on the outside. She turned around to look at Kaiser with a big smile on her face.

"How did you get that string of Buddhist prayer beads?" Kaiser couldn't help but ask.

'Prayer beads?' Of all things, Anne didn't expect him to ask her about that.

It was just out of coincidence that she was looking for some jewelry to match the long plain-white dress she was wearing.

As it turned out Sherry had a string of jade Buddhist prayer beads which complimented her outfit perfectly.

Anne would always treat Sherry's belongings with disdain, but today, just for the sake of being nice, she asked Sherry if she could borrow it.

Did this string of prayer beads have anything to do with Kaiser?

Why did he care so much for something so trivial? After all, someone of his status would have come across some of the rarest treasures in the world.

Although her mind was racing with questions, Anne kept a smile on her face.

She raised her hand to her face and looked at the Buddhist prayer beads before she said, "That is a secret! Perhaps I'll tell you in the future, if fate brings us together again."

Kaiser smiled enigmatically at her and waved his hand at his secretary. "See them downstairs for me."

"Yes, sir."
