Chapter 10 Getting Drugged And Trapped

The following day, when Sherry came back from school, she saw a silver Rolls-Royce parked in front of the villa.

As she had never seen such an extravagant car inside the Xia family's villa before, she guessed that it must have belonged to an important guest.

"Mr. Chen, would you like to sit for a while and have a cup of tea before you leave?"

Just as Sherry wondered whether she should stay outside and wait for the guest to leave, she heard Benson's voice from not too far away.

Sherry almost didn't recognize his voice because she had never heard him speak so humbly before.

Out of curiosity, she followed his voice and found Benson and Anne walking next to a man, who seemed to be in his fifties, accompanied by his two servants.

"Perhaps another time, as I should be heading back soon. I shouldn't keep my boss waiting." The man known as Mr. Chen, smiled at Benson before he looked at Anne with a gentler look on his face and said, "Miss Xia, if the evening dress doesn't fit you, please let me know as soon as possible. I will send someone to alter it for you right away."

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Chen." Anne smiled, tipping her head shyly.

Sherry was quite surprised by Anne's gentle disposition because she was acting quite differently to how she usually did.

"Mr. Xia and Miss Xia, at six o'clock in the afternoon, my boss will send someone to bring Miss Xia to the Case Hotel."

The evening dress? Case Hotel?!

The most influential media group in the country, XC Media Group, was throwing a charity dinner at the Case Hotel tonight. Everyone in the country wouldn't stop talking about it as it was a very popular event that took place once in every three years.

'Is Anne going to the XC Media Group's charity dinner tonight?'

Sherry was lost in thought, but when she saw Benson and Anne approaching her with Mr. Chen, she quickly stepped aside and lowered her head so she wouldn't get noticed.

However, just as Mr. Chen had walked past Sherry, he couldn't help but turn his head around to look at Sherry.

Perhaps, it was her beauty that stopped him in his tracks as he stood there staring at her blankly without saying a word.

"Mr. Chen, this way please!"

Having noticed that the old man was staring at Sherry with admiration, Anne quickly winked at her father, who then jumped in front of Mr. Chen to block his view. Benson tittered awkwardly and led him away.

Mr. Chen withdrew his eyes after taking one good look at Sherry and then proceeded to walk towards the silver Rolls-Royce.

Sherry stood there without raising her head until Mr. Chen got in the car and left. Finally, when Benson and Anne approached her, she smiled at them immediately and said, "Hello, uncle. Hello, Anne."

"How long have you been standing outside?" Anne asked, staring suspiciously at her.

"Not long. I just got back from school," Sherry answered honestly.

"Sherry, pack up your things and bid farewell to your mother before going to the airport." Benson spoke to Sherry with a mild tone, but he left no room for negotiation.

"Uncle, but my flight is at ten o'clock night-time..."

"This is an international flight. A plane ticket costs a lot of money. If you end up being late, do you expect my father to buy you another one?" Anne's eyebrows furrowed as she looked at Sherry with contemptuous glare.

Sherry nodded her head as she looked at Anne with a deadpan expression and said, "Okay, I'll pack my bags now."

As such, Sherry left for the airport at four o'clock in the afternoon even though her flight was still a few hours away.

Before getting inside the car, Madisyn secretly gave Sherry a bank card that had fifty thousand in it and she sternly told her to only use it during emergencies when she was abroad.

Looking at the bank card in her hand, Sherry felt a bit nervous at first, but afterwards her heart was full with joy.

Ever since her father had left them, Sherry felt like a burden on her mother because Madisyn wouldn't even smile at her for many years.

This proved that Madisyn still loved her and that thought made Sherry extremely happy.

"Mom, I promise I will do my best when I'm there and I won't let you down." As Sherry's eyes started to water, Madisyn quickly said, "All right, all right. Get in the car now. I don't want to give your uncle and sister any chance to talk nonsense anymore."

Madisyn pushed her into the taxi.

"Okay!" As soon as Sherry got in the car, she rolled down the window and waved at Madisyn.

Madisyn's eyes became watery as she waved at Sherry and then the driver.

Sherry couldn't keep herself from crying when she watched Madisyn at the driveway waving her good-bye.

Was she unwilling to leave? Or was she afraid of starting a completely new life?

The London Business School—the top graduate school for business in the whole world. Wasn't that her dream all along?

After graduation, she would be able to find a high-paying job which would allow her to repay Benson and then she would no longer have to live at the mercy of the Xia family.

How wonderful!

Everything was finally going according to her plans.

She had every reason to be happy!

After she wiped the tears from her face, Sherry smiled, thinking that good fortune was finally smiling upon her.

Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

About twenty minutes later, Sherry's phone vibrated inside her pocket.

It was a call from Sean.

After a moment's hesitation, Sherry hung up the call.

However, Sean called her again not long after she had hung up.

The thought of what Sean had said to her in the hospital yesterday infuriated her broken heart.

Besides, she was finally leaving the country to follow her dreams. There was no reason for her to put up with Sean anymore.

Just as she was about to hang up again, she accidentally pressed on the answer button and the call got connected.

"Sherry! Please, don't hang up! I'm sorry. I made a mistake! I made a big mistake! I didn't mean what I said to you yesterday. I just couldn't stand the thought of you being with another man. I love you more than anything in this world. Please, forgive me and forget about what happened yesterday, okay?"

Sherry's phone was so old that the model she was using went out of production many years ago.

As soon as the call was connected, Sean's voice came blaring in from the phone and she didn't even have to put him on loudspeaker.

"Sherry, my mother left and my father's in jail. If I lose you as well, what reason will I have in life to go on?"

Sean's mother left? Wasn't she rescued yesterday? Or...

The helplessness and desperation in Sean's voice made Sherry feel uneasy.

After all, they had been dating for a year and Sean had been nice to her for the most part. She couldn't just leave him just because of what happened yesterday.

Sherry simply couldn't do it!

She put the phone to her ear almost immediately and said, "Sean, please don't do anything stupid. I'm not ignoring you, nor do I hate you."

"Sherry, I just want to die right now. Please come and stay with me! Just stay with me for a while. I need to see you right now."

When Sean's voice broke into muffled sobs, Sherry felt a pang of pain inside her heart.

She checked the time. There were still six hours left before her flight. Just enough time for her to see Sean and comfort him.

"Okay. Where are you? I'll come to you now."

Sean then told her the address.

Bang! Bang! "Sean, are you there? It's me, Sherry."

When Sherry arrived at Sean's house, it looked like the whole place was falling apart.

Sherry swallowed a nervous lump in her throat as she was afraid that something bad had happened to Sean.

Crack! Soon, someone opened the door from the inside.

The moment Sherry saw Sean, she breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't look his best, but at least he was safe.

"Sherry! You're finally here!" Sean pulled her into his arms as soon as he saw her.

"Sean, you...Umm..."

Just as Sherry had opened her mouth to say something, Sean put a white cloth over her mouth and nose.

Sherry's eyes widened with shock as she struggled to break free.

Sean wrapped his muscular arms around her and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get rid of him.

"Hmm..."

Sean applied more force when Sherry tried to wiggle out of his arms.

Before long, Sherry closed her eyes as she fell unconscious.

"Are you sure that Kaiser likes her? " After Sherry passed out, a bald man walked in from the next room and looked at her up and down.

"Yes, I am." Sean passed Sherry over to the creepy man and said, "Stop talking and take her to the Case Hotel as soon as possible."

"Okay." The man grinned, picking up Sherry in his arms and said, "The fate of your father's company depends on what happens tonight..."
