Chapter 4 Is Reid Gay

Looking frustrated, Kira let out a helpless sigh. "Connie, there are thousands of people in the world who don't want to get married. Why can't I bump into one of those people?"

When Connie saw her like that, she said jokingly, "Kira, there's no reason for you to feel disheartened. I believe a suitable person who would live up to your standard exists out there."

"You think so? And who could that person be?" Kira asked with incredulity while raising her head.

She mulled over the guys who belonged to her male friends, and then she realized that all of them were straight men.

Connie smiled, saying, "Come on. I'm talking about Reid Shen! He'd never had a girlfriend for four years in university. There used to be rumors circulating about you two having an affair before, but we all know there was no truth to it."

She went on to say in a low voice, "Reid is now twenty-eight years old. He has a good family background and a stable financial position. But he's never dated any woman. So, I'm suspecting that he doesn't want to get married."

As soon as she was done speaking, Lyle, who sat not far away, burst into fits of laughter.

But when he saw Reid giving him the death stare, Lyle tried his best to hold back his amusement.

However, Lyle's face turned red after resisting the urge to be in hysterics. He even sought to stop himself by folding his arms around his trembling shoulders in a bear hug position.

It didn't come as a surprise for others to entertain such assumptions. After all, Reid had never had a relationship with any woman.

Meanwhile, Kira's face darkened after Connie mentioned Reid's name. With a dismissive wave, she said perfunctorily, "Connie, quit talking nonsense. You never know. He might have gotten married already without disclosing it to the public."

"Is that so? But I don't think that's possible. Come to think of it. He is now the Shen Group's CEO, and he also happens to be A City's most sought-after bachelor. If he has tied the knot, I don't think there won't be any news and reports about it, right?" Connie reasoned.

"Well, that's his private matter. It does not involve us, okay?" Kira replied with a slight frown.

Whenever Reid's name came up in the conversation, memories of him would start flooding Kira's mind, highlighting his deceitful nature and the nonsensical kiss they had shared.

She struggled to let go of any thought of him since it seemed like she was stirring up bad memories. She felt there was no good thing from it, so she would rather not discuss the past.

Connie picked up the cappuccino placed by the server before her and sipped slowly. She nodded and responded in approval, "I couldn't agree more. He is one of A City's big shots. Although we used to go to the same university, he's not acquainted with us in any way."

Kira didn't react and kept mum on purpose.

However, she overlooked one crucial point: there was no absolute certainty in the world.

As the two girls chatted idly, they were completely unaware that their conversation's main character had overheard their gossip.

With raised eyebrows, Lyle squinted at the glum-looking Reid. He taunted, "Reid, I never thought Kira would have such a negative notion on you. What a shocking eye-opener."

Reid pursed his thin lips, and his expression dimmed again.

Lyle hardly saw Reid look so defeated, so he found it hard to suppress his delight. He proceeded to tease him, "Wait. Didn't Kira kiss you when we were still in college? Oh, well..."

Lyle didn't go on with his statement. Instead, he flashed Reid a meaningful smirk.

Kira had left behind a significant impact on Lyle because of her relationship with Vernon Tong and the kiss between her and Reid. It was an experience that made it hard for people to forget.

It was Reid's first actual kiss!

Reid raised his head and coldly glared at Lyle, which was an obvious warning for his friend to shut up.

If not for fear that he would create a commotion and attract Kira's attention, he would have already landed a heavy blow on Lyle's face without having second thoughts.

After picking up the meaning of Reid's stare, Lyle kept his teasing under control. But he still had an impish smile and kept staring at Reid knowingly.

After talking for some time with Connie, Kira settled the bill and got up to leave.

At the cafe's door, they bid each other goodbye before heading to the parking lot.

After they walked out of the coffee shop, Reid tidied up his clothes and said to Lyle, "I want Kira's information on my desk first thing tomorrow."

His request stunned Lyle, who then asked, "Why are you showing interest in Kira?"

Reid stood up, and with cold eyes, he looked down at Lyle and said flatly, "The more questions you ask, the more trouble you will have. Do you want to get in trouble?"

Even though he spoke coolly, an air of absolute oppression exuded between his words.

Lyle panicked as he felt his heart quiver with alarm. He immediately made an "okay" sign before adding, "Don't worry. I will have Kira's full details on your desk tomorrow morning. I'll take care of it, so you can ease your mind."

Reid smiled with satisfaction and left the cafe with a haughty look.

As he looked at Reid's back, Lyle cursed himself inwardly.

'What the hell just happened, Lyle? You've promised yourself that you would never fear Reid again.

How come you were so quick to strike him a deal the moment he pressured you? Is it the effect of all his oppressive years dragging you down?'

With such thoughts bugging him, Lyle could only shake his head. He then shrugged it off and thought, 'Next time, I swear, I won't allow Reid to sway me again!'

Meantime, when Reid got in his ride, he closely followed Kira's car.

He slightly narrowed his dark eyes and fixed his gaze at the ordinary white car in front of him. The look on his handsome face was so relaxed it seemed expressionless.

It was utterly impossible to know what was running through his mind that instant.

Kira's car pulled over in front of a shopping mall, and Reid followed suit.

He watched as she stepped out of the car and walked toward the mall's entrance.

Instead of getting out of the car, he took out a packet of cigarettes. After pulling out a white cigarette, he put it between his lips.

It wasn't until her slender figure entered the mall that he withdrew his sight. He reached for a lighter and played with it a few times before lighting his cigarette.

After sucking in a heavy puff, he exhaled a beautiful smoke ring.

Reid rubbed his forehead, feeling a bit frustrated. He couldn't understand why he drove all the way there without knowing the purpose.

He furiously raised his hand and loosened his shirt's top two buttons, revealing a sturdy chest.

If someone could only see what was going on inside the car, they would be enthralled by the scene.

The guy smoking behind the wheel was so good-looking and prominent, the sight of his bare chest alone would leave one open-mouthed.

With only a small part of his cigarette left, Reid rolled down the car window to get some fresh air. Then he flicked the cigarette butt on the curb. Meanwhile, Kira also came out of the shopping mall.

Judging from the paper bag in her hand, Reid could quickly tell that she had bought some groceries.

She pulled open the car's trunk and carefully placed the items. She then hopped in the driver's seat and started the vehicle slowly, and left the mall.

Somehow, Reid stealthily followed Kira's car to her home.

It was slowly getting dark, and the late afternoon sun cast long shadows on the ground.

Sitting in the car, Reid cussed nonstop in a low voice. "What the fuck, Reid? Are you out of your mind? What the hell are you doing?"

Up to this point, he still couldn't figure out why he followed Kira and came to her home.
