Chapter 5 A Shame

Judging from Caspar's appearance, it was undeniable that he was Esteban's child. Monique only said those words to vent her dissatisfaction and anger on Margaret deliberately.

She was so angry not because of Margaret's attitude but because of the fact that Margaret gave birth to Esteban's son. If she had known it back then that it was Esteban who made Margaret pregnant, she would have forced Margaret to have an abortion before kicking her out of the family.

For her, she was the only woman qualified to give birth to Esteban's child and no one else.

Monique had loved Esteban for so many years. As a matter of fact, she planned to find a way to destroy his engagement to Janiya. She didn't expect that Margaret, who had disappeared for a long time, would suddenly appear at the engagement party with her son.

"Monique, watch your language,"

Morris reminded her. Now that Margaret had given birth to Esteban's child, he would naturally pretend to be a caring father and stop Monique from going too far. He had to do it for the sake of the An family's future. f this were in the past, no matter who was at fault, in the end it would always be Margaret who would suffer.

Margaret just shook off Monique's hand, stood there, bit her lower lip, and said nothing.

"Dad, look at her. Can't you see her attitude towards us? Why do we still have to take her back in? We'd better to just let her die outside. Anyway, she has been outside for so many years. And we don't know if that child is really her son. Even if that child is her son, it doesn't necessarily mean Esteban is the father."

"Shut up!" Morris snapped. He noticed that Margaret's expression had darkened, and he didn't want to anger her, so he had to stop Monique. He then turned around to face her and said in a gentle tone, "Margaret, come back with me. You haven't been home for so many years. Do you know how much I've missed you? You silly girl. You have been away for such a long time. Why haven't you come home?"

Margaret found Morris' words hilarious. He was the one who drove her out of the family. Why was he saying these words now?

She still clearly remembered how he kicked her out of their house when she was two months pregnant. She almost died outside. She didn't want to recall this miserable memory of her life anymore. But these people always forced her to remember it.

For so many years, she did not take revenge because she still cared about family affection a little.

However, these people who had hurt her kept reminding her how pitiful and pathetic she was in the past.

Margaret was so angry that she wanted to turn around and leave. But she stopped and sneered, "Mr. An, you must be mistaken. I was kicked out of the An family seven years ago by you. It was you who said that you wanted to sever your relationship with me. You said that I was not your daughter at all. By the way, you also said that I was the illegitimate child of your classmate. Now, you are begging me to go back. Mr. An, don't you think it's funny? I have nothing to do with the An family anymore. Don't say that I am a member of your family; I won't admit it."

"You..." Morris flushed with anger. He couldn't say a word because he knew that everything she said was true. He could not refute her statements at all.

However, he thought that Margaret was still the same obedient pushover before. He believed that as long as he lowered his voice, she would obediently go back home with him. But he did not expect that in the past seven years, she had completely transformed. From being a rabbit, she was now a fierce tigress.

Upon seeing that Morris was so pissed off, Monique, who was standing next to him, also got enraged. She pulled Margaret and slapped her across the face.

Instinctively, Margaret wanted to raise her hand to block the slap. But when she saw from the corner of her eye that Esteban and others were walking out of the hotel, she didn't make a move.

Margaret cried inwardly. The corner of her mouth twitched. Monique was really ruthless.

"Margaret, if you didn't get pregnant shamelessly, would Dad have kicked you out? You little bitch! You ruined the An family's reputation! You deserved it. Ouch!"

Monique suddenly cried in pain.

Margaret was stunned for a moment. Then she saw Caspar biting Monique's hand fiercely. The corner of her mouth raised imperceptibly.

"You wicked woman! How dare you bully my mommy! I'll bite you to death!"

Caspar bit Monique's hand once again.

Monique was in so much pain that her face got distorted. She shook her hand hard, but she couldn't get rid of Caspar's teeth.

"Ahhh! It hurts!"

She recognized that the child was the one brought by Margaret. Looking at the little face that exactly looked like Esteban's, she was so angry that she gritted her teeth.

"You little bastard! Don't you want to live anymore? I will beat you to death!"

Monique then raised her other hand and waved it at Caspar.

"Stop it!"

But her hand froze in mid-air when she heard a cold voice behind her. She couldn't move at all.

She couldn't be mistaken. That voice belonged to Esteban, the man she had loved for many years.

Monique turned around and looked at Esteban. Upon seeing that he was staring at her coldly just like the usual, she put down her hand stiffly.

"My dear grandson, are you all right?"

Melody asked as she rushed over and hugged Caspar. She checked on him and felt relieved when she found that he was fine. She then turned and looked at Monique with a darkened expression. She knew that Monique had always wanted to marry her son. Now, Monique even tried to abuse her grandson.

After giving Monique a fierce glare, she turned to Margaret and complained, "You are Caspar's mother, and he was about to be beaten. Why were you just standing there and..." When she saw the red mark on Margaret's face, the rest of the words that she wanted to say stuck in her throat.

"Mom, take the boy to the car first," Esteban said to Melody coldly.

Melody didn't want to leave so easily because she was afraid that Monique would play some tricks. But she thought that if she continued to stay there, there was also nothing she could do. Hence she took Caspar to their car.

As soon as Melody left with Caspar, Esteban turned to look at Margaret, whose head had been lowered all the time.

"You were kicked out of your family because you were pregnant with my child, weren't you?" he asked. He had heard it clearly just now.

Margaret didn't say anything and continued to look to the ground.

Esteban was confused. She was bold enough to ruin his engagement party just now, so he expected her to be brave.

However, she looked so timid now. Was she still the same woman who made a scene at the engagement party a few moments ago? Esteban was in doubt. But still, he turned to Monique

and asked, "Do you think it's a shame for the An family that she got pregnant with my child?" The tone of his voice was as cold as ice.
