Chapter 4 The Engagement Party Was Ruined

Pretending to be innocent and naive, Margaret lowered her head and fiddled with the hem of her T-shirt when she noticed Esteban's angry gaze.

The pitiful look on her face showed that she seemed to feel greatly aggrieved.

Upon seeing Esteban's reaction, Melody felt that she had to do something. So she let go of Caspar and walked over to Margaret. She put her hand on Margaret's shoulder to turn her around. She was about to ask Margaret what was going on.

But much to Melody's surprise, Margaret got startled with her touch. Perhaps Margaret didn't expect that someone would touch her, so she staggered and tilted her body.

At this time, Janiya had already broken free from the host's grip. She rushed over and raised her hand to slap Margaret.

But who would expect that the slap would fell on Melody's face instead of Margaret's? Melody, a well-known noble and rich lady of the Pei family, was slapped by her future daughter-in-law.

From the five fingerprints on Melody's swollen face, everyone could tell how ruthless Janiya's slap was.

Everyone was stunned to witness such a scene. What happened was beyond their imagination. Esteban's mother was just hit. How would a man who was known in the business circle for his quick, cruel, and accurate actions react?

Before they could have the time to mourn for her fate, Esteban raised his foot and gave Janiya a beautiful roundabout kick. She was thrown out of the stage.

Janiya landed on the floor, covering her belly with her hands. She was in so much pain. Her face was pale as a sheet and blood oozed out from the corners of her mouth.

After what he did, Esteban didn't even look at Janiya. He just held his mother, who had been startled and was only standing still.

"Mom, are you okay?" he asked.

Before Melody got married, she was the daughter of an affluent family. After she got married, she became the lady of a wealthy family as well. In her life, she had already experienced a lot of things. But she had never suffered any hardships or been slapped like this. That was why she was so startled when Janiya slapped her that she couldn't react at all.

Caspar pulled Melody's sleeve and said childishly, "Grandma, let me blow the pain away, so it won't hurt anymore."

As he spoke, he pouted his lips and was about to blow air on Melody's face.

Melody looked down and stared at the little boy's chubby face. The stiff expression on her face instantly vanished. She held Caspar tightly, bursting into tears. Such a dramatic scene frightened the people on and off the stage.

All the reporters present didn't dare to make a move. Even the live broadcast was stopped. The ruthlessness on Esteban's face made them too frightened to do anything.

Esteban's cold aura had been shrouding them all the time, making them tremble with fear. It seemed like a warning that if they dared to make a move, they would be banned and thrown into the sea to be fed to sharks.

Of course, they all knew that what Janiya did had completely ended her relationship with Esteban from now on.

Someone must have called the ambulance because a few minutes later, some paramedics came in with a stretcher. While she was being taken away, Janiya still crazily cursed, "Bitch, just wait and see! I swear, I won't let you off that easily! I will kill you. I will kill you! You hear me!"

The engagement party was completely ruined, and the reporters went home fully loaded with information. Although they were afraid that Esteban might be angry at them if the wrote news about what happened to Melody, the news of him having an illegitimate child could still be a headline for several days. After all, everyone would definitely be interested to know everything about the CEO of TJ Group. They had actually gained more than they had expected.

Melody held Caspar in her arms. The corner of Esteban's mouth twitched upon seeing the scene. Everything happened too suddenly. He didn't feel comfortable to know that he had a son of this age.

Anyway, now that almost everyone was gone, he should deal with the problem about the child.

Taking a cold glance at the mini version of himself, he said in a low voice, "Mom, I've already sent our hair strands for a paternity test. We will know the result in five days."

Just now, in the middle of the chaos, Esteban had asked someone to take Caspar's hair. And now, their hair strands were on the way to the lab for the test.

If the results proved that Caspar was his son, he would definitely take Caspar back to the Pei family. If not, the woman standing in front of him right now would bear the consequences.

"A paternity test?" Margaret subconsciously repeated. She was a little surprised.

Her fair fingers were intertwined together as she bit her lower lip. Obviously, she didn't expect that Esteban would be this quick to do such a thing.

She was one hundred percent sure that Caspar was his son. Why did he have to do such a test to prove it? If it weren't for her mission, she would have slapped Esteban in the face and walked away.

He could hurt her, but he couldn't insult her son.

Upon noticing the expression on her face, Esteban looked at her coldly and asked, "What's wrong? Are you scared?"

"Scared? Daddy, I am your child. Why should Mommy be scared?" Caspar asked innocently, pulling Esteban's trouser leg. He looked so adorable.

With a cold face, Esteban shook off Caspar's hand. He then looked into Margaret's eyes and snapped, "You'd better pray that this boy is really my son."

Melody had intended to remind Esteban not to be so fierce because Caspar might be frightened. But after thinking for a while, she realized that he was right. If Caspar was not her grandson, wouldn't it be a waste of time to rejoice?

Eventually, she chose not to say anything. She just nodded slightly to show that she had no objection to the paternity test.

Although Margaret was a bit reluctant, she compromised when she saw Esteban's darkened expression. She knew that as long as he didn't have real and solid evidence, he wouldn't believe that he really had a son.

When she turned her gaze to Caspar, he blinked at her happily. It was only then that she felt relieved.

She couldn't help but sigh in her heart, 'My son actually knows everything.'

In the end, Melody insisted that her grandson couldn't live outside. So Esteban had to compromise and agreed to let Caspar stay in the Pei family's house before the result came out. But he disagreed that Margaret would stay in the Pei family's house as well. Because of this, Caspar made a fuss for a long time. All his life, he had been with Margaret. He would never leave her. He didn't stop sobbing and kept on refusing to stay in the Pei family's house until Margaret comforted and finally convinced him.

Half an hour later, Margaret walked out of the hotel, only to see her father, Morris An, and her elder sister, Monique An, standing outside. They were not invited to the engagement party, so they only stayed at the hotel entrance and waited. The complacent smile on her face stiffened at the sight of them.

'Wow, they are fast. I haven't even left the hotel yet, and they've already shown up, ' she thought with disdain.

"Margaret, come to Dad. Let's go home,"

Morris immediately said. He waved and smiled at Margaret. The flattering look on his face made Margaret feel sick.

He personally drove her out of their family before. But now, he was asking her to go back home with him. She knew that if it weren't for the fact that Esteban was Caspar's father, her so-called father would never come to pick her up in person.

Margaret planned to go past Morris and ignore him. But as soon as she passed by them, Monique grabbed her arm.

"Hey, Margaret, what is wrong with you? Dad is asking you to go home with us. Didn't you hear him? Or have you forgotten where your home is after all these years? Have you also mistaken your child's father for someone else?" There was an apparent trace of jealousy in her sarcastic tone.
