Chapter 10 Madelyn

Aron rushed into the living room, eyes wide with fear. "Bad news! Madelyn had a car accident and was taken to the hospital."

Shirley stood up and asked worriedly, "A car accident? When? How is my sister now? Is she..."

Before Shirley could even finish her sentence, Isaac had already rushed out of the door. Shirley tried to follow him. She knew that Isaac was going to see Madelyn at the hospital.

However, Alannah grabbed her hand and stopped her just in time. Confused, Shirley turned around to face her.

"Shirley, I know that you're worried about Madelyn, but you can't go there now."

"But why?" Shirley's heart raced fast as she felt a desperate urge to go see her sister.

Alannah took her hand and made her sit down again. "I don't think this is the best time for you to go out now because there might be reporters waiting for you outside. For now, I want you to stay put and let Isaac deal with it first."

"But, my sister..." Shirley was really worried about her sister.

Aron sensed her perturbation and tried to comfort her. "Miss Su, please try not to get too worked up. From what I've heard, your sister accidentally hit a street lamp last night. She only has a minor bruise on her forehead, nothing serious."

Aron's words managed to calm Shirley down.

Alannah looked at Shirley dotingly; she was pleased to have a granddaughter-in-law like her. "I'll have someone take you to the guess room. Get some rest and wait for Isaac to come back."

Having no other choice but to agree, Shirley nodded and followed a servant to the guest room. She decided to see her sister and beg for her forgiveness after the reporters were gone. The panic in her heart was like a deluge of water surrounding her, creeping higher until she couldn't breathe. How would she ever face her sister after what had happened?

Aron waited until Shirley had left before he looked at Alannah. "Mrs. Su, why do you want Isaac to marry Shirley when you know that he likes Madelyn? I'm afraid that's only going to anger him."

Alannah snorted; she was like a different person now. "Madelyn isn't good enough for my grandson. She won't be able to marry into the family."

On the previous night, after having dinner her with friends, Madelyn decided to go home early. She wanted to be well-rested for the wedding on the next day. After all, she had to look beautiful for her future husband, the man she loved with all her heart-Isaac.

As soon as she got home, she received a phone call from Zachary, which came as a surprise because she was expecting a call from Isaac. Zachary told her on the phone that Isaac was drunk. She said that she would be right there, and hung up the phone. In fact, she had drunk a lot. She got in the BMW that was sent to her by Isaac and drove out of her house skillfully.

Just after she drove out of the villa, Madelyn received another phone call. Keeping her eyes on the road, she steered the wheel with one hand and answered the call with the other, without even looking who the caller was.

"Zac, I'm almost there. Please don't..."

"Madelyn, it's me. Are you really going to get married tomorrow?" Panic grew stronger in her heart as her mental faculties gave way to emotions the moment she heard the caller's voice.

Madelyn had no doubts as to the identity of the person on the other end of the line, and almost immediately, the smile froze on her face.

"Howard Gu, why are you calling me? Didn't I tell you to not call me again? Are you crazy?"

A bitter smile appeared on Howard's lips. "What's wrong? Are you afraid that your fiance will find out about us?"

"Shut up! Don't ever say that again. We've never been together! Never!" Madelyn's voice rose and her hands kept trembling. She couldn't let this man destroy her life, not on the night before her wedding.

"Don't worry. I won't tell him anything. I just wanted you to know that I've prepared a big gift for you. I wish you happiness forever. By the way, Madelyn, I love you very much."

"Love? You must be out of your mind! Go to hell! And I hope I don't ever see you again." However, before Madelyn could hang up, Howard's words shocked her to the point where she couldn't process her thoughts fast enough to respond.

"I'm going to hell now, Madelyn." Madelyn's breathing became ragged and her eyes were wide with incredulity. Bang! The deafening sound of a car crashing came from the other end of the line. Madelyn broke out in a cold sweat and her heart felt like it was going to explode. She accidentally dropped the phone, hands trembling violently. She lost control of her car,

which swerved and collided with a street lamp. As her consciousness slowly faded after the crash, she gradually slipped into darkness.
